Man... It's like you are a mind-reader and make the exact videos that love to see! And this goes beyond me just subscribing to your channel. Like, literally, I fully ran through and beat Sonic 1 (the wide-screen version that you can now get from your phone to your computer without an emulator) for the first time just a week and one day before you uploaded this video. (And I beat wide-screen Sonic 2 one day before that.) Your content is always amazing! I know you might want to work on other stuff next, but I'd definitely like to see this done with Sonic 2 and Sonic CD one day. (Sonic...classic Sonic...specifically in Sonic 1, 2, CD, and Mania...is my favorite video game character of all time since his debut in 1991.) This video was perfect (except maybe in a future video, you can clean up Sonic's "back" eye a bit), and like a dream from 1991 come true. It only took 30 years for me to be able to witness this (along with the wide-screen mobile versions being available on PC). You are probably ahead of me on this, but just in case you don't know about how to get the mobile versions to PC, you can check this out: th-cam.com/video/QekdEBOWX7Y/w-d-xo.html And keep up the great work! You deserve so much more credit and fame. If the world were fair, making videos like this would be able to fully support you and could be your job. You'd have hundreds of thousands of views each video. But oh, well... We live in this world. Still, with my extremely small reach, I'll still share this with others.
It always makes my day when you stop by! Aww man, thanks so much for the support. What a lovely thing to wake up to. I love sonic for the same reasons, and his classic incarnations are the smartest approach to sonics design (1,2 cd, mania) in my opinion. You're always so gracious, even when you're watching videos that aren't sonic related you always leave thorough and detailed feedback. And comments like these are one of the reasons that I push through with this channel, despite it being swallowed in the hyper-saturated TH-cam market. Thanks again for keeping me motivated, and poised for my next project :)
@@Bitplex Thanks so much for the kind reply! We definitely like a lot of the same things, even down to our particular fondness for the Sonic 1, 2, CD, and Mania design approach! Whatever it is you work on next, I'm looking forward to it!

I would love to see a full game in this visual style. 🤤 A puzzle-platformer with Voxel art characters and environments masterfully designed to evoke classic pixel art when viewed dead-on, but with the freedom to manipulate the camera to a degree with the right stick/mouse. Have some sections transition the camera position for shifts in perspective - into an isometric view, or running towards/away from the camera
It is always a delight to see you've uploaded a new video and, of course, watch it. Thank you for such amazing pieces of art you give us the chance to be amazed watching. :)
No this is a custom animation, there's nothing automated about this. It's entirely manually designed. I haven't used any level maps or anything like that, just 2d screenshots, which I cut out every object and shape, then extruded them into 3d objects and environments. It's just very seamless so your brain is falling for the illusion. I created and have been refining the technique that produces this effect for 4 years.
@SegaMario thanks man, it's a shame my channel never took off. The algorithm was working against my random upload schedule and the last few years of video content nose dived views wise.
I'm glad you enjoyed. I guess it's because of the perspective shift, and just slotting perfectly into place, back in the realm of 2D. That's why I enjoyed creating it anyway.

I take it this only works on maps that have or can demonstrate a high level of symmetry?
