You have found a really practical pace in this video. It's slow enough for beginners to understand, but at the same time fast enough to have a beautiful basic model of the Fiat 500 in less than 20 minutes. Also you got a pleasant voice. Keep it up
Awesome video! Love the hybrid approach. Really takes the what you love about Sub D's and combines it with what you already know about Alias. Also, love the side glass technique using the revolve tool. The question I have is once you use the "crease" tool on a surface, can you go back and radius the surfaces? Thanks again, I'm building the Fiat right now!!!
Glad you liked it! Answering your question: you can do a SurfaceFillet directly on a crease, I show this in Fiat500 -part2. Another option would be to uncrease it and do a bevel instead
Hi John, "usetex" and "boxmode" are two ways of displaying the SubD-model. There is surface at any time in Alias. That´s why you´re able to work with surface modeling tools like fillet surface. You can see this in -part2 !
Hi, Thanks a lot for your tutorials. I'm learning on ALias 2020 and I see that you put in description an add to instal. I'm trying to but it wont work. How can I do it? Thanks again, really great work.
Alias SubD Modeling always has a SubD Limit Surface. Polygon Modeling doesnot have that. The advantage is that you can do Hybrid Modeling using Subds and Nurbs together (see Fiat500 -part2)
Hi Mr.Strohm and thanks a lot for tutorials. may you have a recommendation about PC hardware configurations suitable for alias good performance in merely heavy projects? thanks a lot.
Hi Stephan. Thanks for your kind tutorial. I would like to ask you how do you select de intermediate cvs between to selected cvs of the same hull, as you do from sec 17'32" to 17'36"
@@TheSTROHM i got it sir 1 was not keeping the circles degree as 1 and hence thta was the problem, could u also tell me where can i download the manequin model of the drivers seat video you did, thanks🙂
Good question Alessandro! For experienced Alias CAS-Modellers SubD-Modelling is nice to have, but I would say, they don´t need it so much. The idea is to give Designers an easy-to-learn approach to enable them to create 3D-models on a realistic underlying packages. Using Alias-SubD, they can easily interact with their CAS-Modellers because they have the same software!
Due to modelling deadlines are very tight these days and to speed up the process all Sub D surfaces are curvature continues and once shape is finalized, delete unwanted patch and patch it with span 1 surfaces hence this work flow
Yes, It took too long to integrate this workflow into Alias, considering, that Alias and Maya are products from the same company (Autodesk) But luckily for Alias Users they used a smarter approach this time : Alias SubDs allow hybrid modeling, which means you can combine SubDs and Nurbs. If you watch my Fiat500 -part2 video, I show it in detail.

SO HONEY VOICE.. I ALMOST FELL ASLEEP ..
Sehr gutes Video von Stefan.Stefan begleitete damals meine ersten Alias Schritte!Ein absoluter Fachmann
Hey Stefan! Keep up the good Work and your fine teaching! Thanks for the Video. Finally hybrid modeling in Alias. That ROCKS!!!
Thank you for this very useful and entertaining video on Alias and Sub D's. I can hardly wait for the second part. My hat off to you sir.
Großartig Stefan, man kann sehr viel von dir lernen. Great Tutorial !
Finally am moving over to Alias😊
GREAT ONE! I found it very useful!. Would be great to have some rim modelling tutotorials etc :)
You are a good teacher👏
Stefan...Great Vid....thanks for posting!
max built into alias, terrific
Thanks men! Very useful!
Excellent - Subscribed!
Thank you so much!!! top teacher
great video man! thx.

Hi! Where can I find the function SYMMETRY that you used in the last minute of this video?
nice~~~~~keep on~~持续关注
So is this SubD toolkit only available in 2020, its not in my 2019? Great tutorial but can't do it without the SubD tools.
Yes you´re right. Autodesk released the Alias SubD Modling first in Version 2020.
nice.thank you.
Thanks!
The 'usetex' tool under Eval tab is converting a subD model to a surface model? Is it introduced in Alias 2020?
Hi John, "usetex" and "boxmode" are two ways of displaying the SubD-model. There is surface at any time in Alias. That´s why you´re able to work with surface modeling tools like fillet surface. You can see this in -part2 !

what is the difference between polygon modeling and subD modeling? please answer
Alias SubD Modeling always has a SubD Limit Surface. Polygon Modeling doesnot have that. The advantage is that you can do Hybrid Modeling using Subds and Nurbs together (see Fiat500 -part2)
Hello, Thank you for this tutorial!
might I ask you what kind of job could I find with knowledge of how to modelling a car?
I would say usually it´s called a "CAS-modeller" or a "CAS alias modeller"
@@TheSTROHM thanks for replying

hi,
your video is very informative , can u tell me to set the dimensions of the image canvas with respect to the dimensions of the vehicle?
hi sir ive download alias 2020 but i can see only default and a class surface where can i find sub division
Hi Stefan, Great job I was wondering if you could post the the canvas images of the Fiat500? That way we could follow right along. Thanks Greg
Hi Greg,, my intention was, that you can follow the workflow, even if you have canvases of another car like Opel Adam, Nissan Micra, Peugeot 108...
Hi Stephan. Thanks for your kind tutorial. I would like to ask you how do you select de intermediate cvs between to selected cvs of the same hull, as you do from sec 17'32" to 17'36"
Click first CV with LMB, then Shift MMB when you click on the last CV ->Alias selects all in-between CVs too
The preset links seems broken,i couldn't download it,pls help
ı want to ask question firstly thank you for tutorials and how to activate ribbons for sub d modeling
Excuse me.Now I can’ pick the curves when I use extrude. The curve I drew is 1 degree But I still failed. Iwould like to now why. Thanks
Where can I fine the canva image?
Ask Google :-)
@@TheSTROHM Idk why but I couldn't do wheel arch
Hi, i cant get those dots, those vertex...how can i activate or display them? thanks
Object Display -> Draw Style, there you can choose between 6 different displays for vertices
@@TheSTROHM top...thanks a lot
hey, When i change from box mode to Diagnostic shade , i could see pinch in the surface. Kindly help
That usually happens by incident, when you hit spacebar and you don´t move the Manipulator, then the width of the extrusion is 0
Hello sir i dont know why i m not able to select the curve of the circle to extrude in the fender
Probably "Tgl Model " ?

Why using a polygon-modeling workflow in Alias?

Can you leave a link for the reference images
my intention was that this is up to each user, because this workflow can be used for any car exterior.
Not sure why not call it polygonal modeling. Maya had this for 20 years. :)
