I do not think “crunchy” when I think of french toast. These crunchy coatings of coconut or cereal are straight up blasphemous to me. 🤣🤣

It is. French toast batter, toppings (pb and j), and syrup. All elevated. The rock wins.
Yes, more like traditional French toast but thick as hell and the peanut butter and jelly was not what I would want when I think of French toast. I would try it if someone else cooked it before I would waste my time. I’m fine with good old syrup and butter on the top of mine but willing to branch out some if it’s the right recipe. 😊

First off, the bread is the most important part... so if you could tell us what type of bread is suggested in the recipes, that would be great. Also, who else thinks either Challah or Brioche for French Toast is best and nothing else will do?
i actually just use toast most of the time. turns our quite fine. just leave out any kind of coating. I like it soft and soggy, if I´m crazy with Nutella in between
use any old white bread.

It's more like American Toast.
They prepare the bread the same way they would prepare Chicken Fries and such.
That’s because they have little to no culinary experience when it comes to preparation, at least in most recipes that I see.

I've never made French Toast with a coating. Just use stale bread that gets properly soaked in the egg/milk/sugar/cinnamon mixture and then fry it in unsalted butter!!

You're supposed to use old, rock-hard bread and SOAK it in the custard. You fry it AND bake it.
I always make french toast but its a simple french toast only. And even simply its yummy my recipe
November 28th is National French Toast Day. Michael T's recipe IS the best! "I" use egg nog + some secret ingredients cinnamon & nutmeg topped with "spiked" Maple syrup. Can dust with more cinnamon & powdered sugar (If you like) Bacon, or sausage as well as mimosas.

My husband says I do the best French toast , I have a salty recipe with garlic, or a sweet recipe with cinnamon. But to me the best French toast recipe is from my nan with the traditional French toast combo: milk, sugar, vanilla.
