I appreciate it! It's surprising how many reviewers don't glance at the product's info page at the very least; let alone actually read the manual before reviewing something...
Great review, just found your channel. yeah warm tints are better for caving too. Eg the old but very useful carbide lamps throw a lovely warm color temp that's easy on the eyes for hour and hours underground. Several months on, do you still like this model? Any problems/issues with it?
Thank you! I've had a couple of other headlamps on the review bench, but the HM65R is still my go-to when I'm going out for some adventure. I can't say I've found out anything groundbreaking since I released the review, and it's still a fantastic headlamp! I really hope to see some warmer tinted LEDs in future versions!
Thanks for watching! I have yet to have any issues with the cover letting through any moisture, dirt, or grit. Thankfully it's rather well protected on the backside of the light and as long as make sure you wipe away any contamination, you shouldn't have any problems. I've confirmed with Fenix that the PD36R series has waterproofed internal circuitry, I'm sure its the same on this light too. That would make cleaning out the port if it did get dirty a little easier.
@@benhazell470 I think you should be fine! If you want to be extra careful, treat the gasket like any other waterproof seal and wipe both the gasket and the socket clean with a microfiber (or other non lint-producing cloth) before resealing.
Good review. Just watched another rev on this same headlamp and the reviewer said he noticed a high-pitched noise the highest setting. Did you? Anyway, I've just ordered one. Will meet any and all of my requirements.
Thanks for the comment! I would need to dig it out of my gear bag when I get off shift, but I haven't noticed any noise at any brightness settings. I'll let you know if I do notice any when I get back home.
Sorry, I inadvertently deleted your last comment! The usb C is nice, one less cable to carry around. I don't think strobe modes make any sense on almost every other kind of light "tactical" or otherwise.
Wow great light! I really don't like the orange though. Orange and brown are two of the least attractive colors consistently when polled by users. The more attractive your gear the more you sell. I hope Fenix fixes the color in the future.
Two days ago I bought Fenix hm65r. When I checked the battery level, one light was on which indicates that the battery level is %21-%40 according to the user manual. After a few try different combination of lighting the battery dropped below %20. I checked it and one light was flashing. So I began charging headlamp using my samsung phone charger. Later on immediately I saw that three lights were on constantly and the latter one was flashing as in this video: th-cam.com/video/Ff9xsMoKOcs/w-d-xo.html I use the same charger which is seen in this video. I'm not sure if it's suitable for charging it: th-cam.com/video/QbTRyO4ee8k/w-d-xo.html This situation didn't change for about 2 hours. Still waiting for it to see any change. Is this normal? As far as understand from user manual, after starting to charge, one indicator should flash first. Other indicators should be off till %21. After that one light should be on constantly and the second light should flash so on.. Is there anything wrong with my headlamp?
Can't say I've had that problem. Guess it's maybe a bad cell? I usually take my battery our of the light to charge it. I'd you've got an external charger, I'd try that. If that doesn't work, Fenix Lighting USA should be able to help you out!
Is it true that Fenix is lying about run time of this headlamp hm65r? You can read last threads here budgetlightforum.com/node/68966 and amazon.com reviews. If so I will return it.
@@ChinookOutdoors ok so doese yours last the 22 hours om 400 lumens spotlight mode as I'm not the only one on a Facebook fishing site others have got same problem only lasting 4 hours on spotlight mode
@@petefishrigsandtips I haven't done any timed tests with my HM65R and generally prefer to use the flood beam on this light. I'll keep this info in mind on an upcoming trip and will be mindful to use the high spot setting to see if it breaks that 4-hour mark.
@@ChinookOutdoors well I have contacted fenix and told me to send light back what everyone forgets re this headlight is ut doesnt actually stay on the settings it states ,the modes dim down Iver the time period loeeing the intensity of the light on each setting
You are one of the few who mentioned that it also runs on 123A batteries.....great job.

This was a great review: short, sweet with excellent video. Keep up the great work.
Thanks! I definitely need to get back in the swing of things and make some more videos!
Great review - thanks! I just ordered mine today, along with one of the cold-weather 18650's :)
Great review. Not often we Scandinavians get the better version of a product, so maybe I should look into the super raptor..

Awesome review and presentation!
Have you had any trouble with the charging point getting mud or sand in it preventing charging?

Really good and useful review. Cheers.
Thank you!
Can you use headlamp while charging?
Love the type C And the no strobe cause it doesn't make sense to have strobe on a headlamp

There is a black version

Varusteleka sell finnish version with red light
I ve got the HM65r Superraptor.....a better choice...Google it
Mine only lasts 4 hours on spotlight 400 lumens. Not 22 hours as stated it's going back
Sorry to hear, that's not awesome! I wonder if you got a faulty battery?

Fenix is a more reliable product.
I found it very difficult to understand what you were saying, I just could not make out your words clearly enough, so went to a different video
