I had already cancelled an ebay order for this as I wasn't sure if the different looking lift pump would work, wish I had seen this video first, doh! - Got one on order now so hopefully get it fitted tomorrow/thursday to accommodate the 150 turbbo I've just put in, my old pump lasted to 230k miles somehow! Cheers for the vid.
@@meatmanifesto Cheers bud, yeah checked the gauge level before fitting and made sure it was about the same, roughly a centimeter to the right of the hole/pointing straight back looked about righ,t although all I can hear is this pump when its running, does your one do the same? wondering if I need to drop/clean the tank next, probably the only thing I've not done to this car yet as I've done everything else lol.
I got the fuel pump out exactly as you described thank you. Unfortunately, my replacement pump has a different electrical connection socket so worth checking before you buying a replacement.
After changing my fuel pump the gauge reads correctly the problem is after fill up the tank it stays on empty and starts reading properly after 100kms of driving
@@meatmanifesto alright cool thankyou, didn't realise how easy the job was. My car won't start and the fuel pump isn't priming on ignition. Going to give it a go, thanks!
Thanks for this. I did the same test with my replacement. Works out of the tank. Inside the tank, doesnt work. It did once, then dropped to zero as I was about to move off. Maybe I installed the pump the wrong direction. However my Polo 1.2 TSI 2015 does not have any markings which line up with anything outside. There are only two arrows on the pump one points to one outlet R which I assume is return. The other 'V' which points at the side of the pump but what on earth does V mean. Vorne? Which is front in German. Could you offer any help please? Car starts and runs fine, just showing empty. Also I can get the float to work in the tank but so far from the pipes for a connection. Makes no sense.
Had to change the seal ring. That was the easy part my union nut will not tighten it just spins around. Thread is good and clean but boy is it frustrating.
You said your fuel gauge is reading lower than it was and that is because you didn’t position the pump right. The arrow has to point to the hole it doesn’t if genuine or aftermarket. Move the arrow to the hole and the fuel level will read correctly.
I just changed the pump and now I have high fuel readings , there is only 10 liters in the tank and the reading is more than the half of the tank ! plz help!
@@malikm.kraishan5362 did you sort it? I used a pd130 cordoba and mines the same just over half a tank when originally I had quarter. Doesn't matter which way I rotate it its the same
Great tutorial Rob! How to vids on TH-cam have been my go to for years. Thanks for putting out some helpful content to the masses.🙏🤘
Heck yeah all about spreading the love 😃

Easy enough to fit just make sure you get the orientation right for an accurate fuel reading

Yeah aftermarket pumps are noisy, at least you know it's working 🤣
excellent instructions Rob, well done mate and very concise 😀
Glad the video helped 💯

Ah dang that's a shame
Nice video. Quick and easy! Thank you
Thank you 😊
Hy does my golf 1.6 have an extra pipe in that exact place but it's a metal pipe?
I've no idea on the 1.6 petrol model, sorry.

Could be sticking
Can i re-use the old gasket?
Yes I mentioned in the video I put the old one on the new pump
@@meatmanifesto thanks, i did buy a new seal just to be sure
Better to be safe then sorry 🙂
@@meatmanifesto right!
Where did you get fuel pump from mate? Struggling to find one for my pd130 Bora
I got it off eBay last year

Awesome glad to help a fellow VW owner ☮️👌
Great video, but is bleeding an important step or is not need
Just prime the pump a few times before starting. You'll hear it when it's ready to fire up
I've changed my fule pump and it's got a noisy vibration come from the pump it's irritating?
Sounds like a faulty pump
Good job mate thank you.subbed
Thank you

Faulty unit?
Nice vid! From where did u got the information with the arrow position?? And what is the brand of the new pump?
I've changed a few over the years, I can't remember the brand I purchased it off ebay
I replaced my pump but now i have an alarm going off
@@tristenkaiserlik5085 that sounds like a problem
@meatmanifesto I dont know what the issue was but after 2 weeks the alarm went away and it started running better
Thanks my mk4 is cured lol
Ah awesome glad surgery was successful ☺️
What problems did ut have ? What fault codes inplied that it was fuel pump :)
Hey it's a spring moist day for me today 2 years later lmao. Im American though.
The moistness breaks the time barrier 🤣💦
@@meatmanifesto may the moist be with you.

That's a strange one? Maybe use some PTFE tape
@@meatmanifestowill for sure give it a go annoyingly used part dealers won’t sell the union nut/ tightening ring only the whole pump assembly.

Did you see my update at the end? Sounds like you have the pump positioned incorrectly
@@meatmanifesto I will check it out later this evening and try to put it the correct way! thanks for the fast replay

Which part?
