C5 owner here. Nice video. I would mostly agree with what you've said. I've tested the C5 on a broad range of sims and have been surprised how little tuning I had to do. I only had a problem with AMS1 not having feedback but I was able to resolve by changing the controller order in Joy2Key. As a first time DD owner I am super impressed with the step up in FFB from my previous gear and belt driven wheels.
@@mallardmalarky3112 Sorry no. I think iRacing is the only major sim I don't keep active. Too much commitment to a single game. I find most other Sims have loads of power apart from Raceroom where it seems just a little on the low side.
@JoeGaffey Can you confirm the paddles are metal or plastic ? Some videos are saying metal some plastic. Also, is it a leather or pleather rim? Have you got a brake mod fitted ? It would be good to hear an owners verdict. Thanks.
@@puremad1 Definitely plastic paddles. Some owners are reporting breakage on the Cammus Discord. Cammus seem to providing replacements though. No problem so far for me. Wheel cover material is a pretty decent faux leather. The stitching is a little loose on mine but it seems more decorative than functional anyway. I found the stitching a lttle harsh on my hands at first but got used to it. I use the T3PM pedal set from my previous T248 wheel via a USB adapter so I can't comment on the Cammus pedals.
C5 owner, updated wheel's fw (just the wheel, not the base, still at 1.6.3) last night to latest version.....now you can change LED schemes, mph/kmh for speed or gear number. Also there's setting for each rotary (12 position or +/-). Nice video, as it is my first DD wheel, really curious about its perfs.
Yes, it is 5 nm nominal and 7 nm peak. What seems shocking for owners of 8 nm fanatec (especially for the price)... there is also the low inertia of the wheel, given that the design of the motor eliminates the axle and other elements connected to the wheel. ... this one therefore becomes much more lively when used. I had always said it in the comments.... the enemy of the 8nm fanatec, is not the r9 from moza, but the c5 from camus
Everything I've seen on this wheel have been very possitive! Lets hope after sales are as good IF there is any problems going forward as this is quite a unique design and has not stood up to long-term abuse like the common motor design. Im yet to see a take-down video. Also all the 5% vouchers being promoted don't work as the site is promoting 25% off but want £66 for UK based shipping, giving it to you in one hand and taking out the other hahaha. Great Video....thanks 👍
Have been dailying an R5 for 10 months. Coming from gear driven.. It is more than enough! Will I upgrade further down.. Maybe because the idea is that higher nm even if you don't use it will provide sharper peak torque and improved feel.. But right now I can't still see myself justifying paying more for more nm. Just my opinion.
@@AyaxRo Contrary to popular belief, more power doesn't mean better FFB.... Even a 3nm motor can produce accurate and properly detailed FFB. It really comes down to the motor used and how it's tuned.
Hello, I have the steering wheel a few days ago and I have had a lot of problems configuring it in automotive 2 and Forza Horizon 5. Maybe you could help us with a video of the configuration? Regards
Hi@@SIMRROOKIE1994 , I think it depends of the warehouse where you order it from. In my case, I placed the purchase order in USA Warehouse on November 19, and it arrived on Nov/28, pretty fast. The problem is that on the cammus page the order status was always in "processing" so there is no good information about the shipping. I had to write to Cammus directly, and they sent me a photo with the UPS tracking number, where I could see in real time where the purchase was. Cammus needs to improve information for customers and also make it easier to configure the steering wheel with compatible games. That whole process has been complicated and frustrating for me. But the steering wheel is really good when you can use it in your favorite game.
@@cristianmartinezbocaz3767 thank you for answering, I wrote a message to cammus, they Said spain warehouse, and they are short of products now, yeah there site is pretty bad about information , thank you again I hope you enjoy your c5 ❤️😘😘
Yes, it's a common complaint..... personally, having bought it for the ultra compact form factor and the shape of the steering wheel, I'm not worried, but since the base and steering wheel are recognized as two peripherals, I would be curious to dismantle it to see if it is really possible to mod or upgrade the wheel
@@gufo2020 Yeah I heard it was recognized as two different devices, so technically it should be possible. If they make it interchangable it will be a direct drive (pun intended) to the store for me. Keep me posted if you're going to to it haha
I heard the pedals are not good. Both the throttle and brake feel the exact same being linear. I bought the C5 and table clamp and some fanatec csl pedals with a load cell upgrade kit. Highly recommend
@@giovani4517 I'm using the C5 with the SR-P pedals. I wouldn't say the pedals suck, but out of the box they leave a bit to be desired. The accessory kit is almost a necessity if you want a good experience with the SR-P pedals and even then they may not exactly be consistant...
Great impressions. I recently bought a cockpit, the GT Omega Prime lite and I really cant afford any more expensives upgrades for at least a year. Do you think it worth changing my Thrustmaster TX/T300 for this wheel until I can afford a 12 or 15Nm wheel like the Fanatec DD?
I'm between the 15nm bundle and the C5. Mostly considering the higher cost bundle because better pedals, fully round wheel, and potential for swapping the wheel in the future? Not sure what your thoughts would be on that.
I just don’t like that they don’t have a upgrade path like the other choices out there and I heard this wheel can get really warm that bothers me too I mean being new to sim racing I need a option that’s gone last a while and that I can grow with if it had a round wheel vs d shape would’ve helped my decision as well but for the price you can’t beat it 🫤

Have you used it on iRacing? the default NM peak setting on iracing is very low - curious what people have set it to

Is it possible for you to make a video for a direct comparison between the Cammus C5 and Moza R5
At some point, I will.
Just get the csd dd you’re gonna want more power or the moza r9

the C5 can now display gears instead of kph. felt like ishould let everyone know!
I have the impression if we combine C5 with LC100 pedals then we probably have the best value for money bundle.
