Well done John, Very important part of fishing. Feet & hands. Cold can make a day terrible. Wait till you are 70. Does not get better with age! Buying the gloves now. Many Thanks

Layered clothing and of course catching fish really keeps you warm 🎣🔥

Great information John! As a kayak fisherman I live by a rule of 120. If the combination of the wind temperature and the water temperature is below 120 I will be wearing some kind of a dry suit or immersion clothing of some sort. Because as a kayaker unlike a boater it's not a matter of if I am going to flip my kayak at some point in time ... it's just a matter of when. And in the front hold of my kayak is a dry bag with a change of clothes as you suggested plus a towel, a lighter and some strike anywhere water proof matches and fire starter.

Great advice. I've fished for over 50 years and enjoy winter fishing in E. TN and W. N.C. vey much. I've used a lot of the advice you shared in this video. The jersey gloves and awesome.

Years ago fishing BASS Invitationals I witnessed several anglers wearing heavy wool socks with sandals. Blast off air temperature in the low 20's. I had my insulated hunting boots on. Now the sandal wearing anglers are famous in the fishing world but I won't mention their names. They swore that it was comfortable and provided better footing in the boat. Now I agree with that because the hunting boots in the boat are cumbersome. I don't like the cold weather anymore. The older you get the cold makes you feel miserable.

Great advice. Cold weather fishing can be productive but miserable at the same time. I’ve been a fan of Stryker since I started trout fishing on the White River. Fished in single digit temps for hours comfortably. The right clothes and the right layers makes all the difference. Great video John, much needed information on a serious subject!!

Solid advice John..Back when I lived up in the cold we used to wear a pair of the Under Armor cold gear leggings and long sleeve shirts and a pair of insulated jeans and a hoody. That used to get me by unless it was raining.. which unless it was a tournament I kept my ass inside on those cold rainy days.

After years of hunting and fishing in the cold i have came up with a system that works for me. You are right about the cotton over the long johns,it just works. Cold hands is my only issue.

Kayak tip: fished in the 30’s in WI out of the hobie and no matter what I did my feet were getting cold first out of any body part and staying cold. Realized I was staying seated too long with my feet in the holsters of the pedals for extended periods of time. My elevated feet were causing less blood flow to them and making them colder. Next trip which was equally cold I made a habit of lower my feet and periodically and standing and the problem went away.
