Best observation I’ve heard in a long time - “Arnold Schwarzenegger is the man. He’s what the Rock Dwane Johnson wants to be”. 100%!! I’ve always thought that. Arnold is the perfect muscle bound action hero with the corny one-liners and flat German delivery. He’s the GOAT
The X-Ray shots are early CGI and pretty impressive for the time. Me, watching the color changing nails: That's a pretty neat VFX. Female reactors: OMG, I want that to exist in real life.
I believe Arnie would've been a more heralded actor if he was in some Fritz Lang or Kurosawa movie where his physical presence and how he carries himself would've been seen as peak acting. I think he, Keanu Reeves, and William Shatner get slandered as bad actors, but they are so good embodying their roles.
Yeah - if he took a "real" vacation, he might have had to deal with lost luggage, lousy weather, crooked taxi drivers... In the special "Blue Skies On Mars"-package, he would have not just gotten the girl, he would have saved the whole planet ... and it would all have appeared totally real. You start to wonder... how might a company making a perfect memory-product write a transition from the real memory of going to their place to get a fake memory - to the fake memory they implant. Sure, you might just erase the memory, but in some cases you might not need or want to. Still - would have to be quite the scenario to make that congruent. If you're going to dive into Philip K. Dick's works, "A Scanner Darkly" and "Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep" are also pretty interesting reads.
This movie has the same director as "Robocop" (Paul Verhoeven), the same actor playing the Big Bad (Ronny Cox), and the same guy responsible for the special effects (Rob Bottin, of "The thing" fame, who received an Oscar for "Total recall"). In our times, these two movies are considered the first two parts of Verhoeven's sci fi-social commentary-satire trilogy, the third one being "Starship troopers". Sharon Stone, the actress playing Quaid's "wife", impressed Verhoeven so much that he made her the female lead of his next movie "Basic instinct" - another huge box office success. That one's more of a conventional thriller, with LOTS of nudity, sex and Michael Douglas playing a cop investigating/falling for Stone's character, who may or may not be a cold-blooded killer. "Jack Nicholson knock-off" is Michael Ironside, one of the greatest portrayers of villains and anti-heroes ever, so get used to him! You will see more of him.
Good call-out of Dwayne Johnson, which I used to appreciate. They both have huge egos but Schwarzy knew he had his flaws (acting, accent) and needed to work with the best directors to iconize him (John Milius, James Cameron, Paul Verhoeven). Johnson thinks his persona is enough. Say what you want about Arnold's last movies but his early career is impressive. Unlike Johnson's.
Arnie was smart enough to get into a position where he could dictate which movies he was going to do. He pushed Mario Kassar into purchasing the rights to the script, getting Verhoeven, pay the highest production costs for a movie (at the time), and, when public recognition was low, he pushed Kassar to drop more money on marketing. The Rock only takes anything that comes his way.
I like Dwayne, but it feels like all his movies are made for 9 year olds. I didn't like those type of movies even when I was 9. Well, some of them I did, but very few. I don't think anyone could seriously compare Dwayne with Arnold. Strictly about the quality of the movies they made.
First of all, very good reaction as always and fun editing. Well done. I do recommend the remake. It's not as good as the original. It took me 3 efforts to watch it without falling asleep, but it is not a bad movie. It's just that when you have seen the original it feels like a bad student project. The setting is not as cool, but then again I love space and Mars in particular. I think it is worth watching, but if the original is a 9 out of 10, the remake is for me a 5.5 out of 10. Mind you, I have yet to watch fully Bram Stoker's Dracula as 4 times I tried, all 4 I fell asleep from boredom. Three of which at the cinema when it was new. As for the original Total Recall, one of my all time favorite films. In my top 10 and never get bored watching it. Cinema, TV, VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, and still keep watching it. Goes great with Chinese food or Burger King.
Me and my best friend watched Total Recall in the theaters. What was so memorable about this movie was not the movie. We were standing in line on the sidewalk outside the movie theater, Allen theater. Then out of nowhere two girls from rival highschools started fighting. Right on the sidewalk. So before me and my friend watched the movie, we saw two girls fighting and a lot of beautiful boobies. The police came and took the two teenage girls away and we watched Total Recall.
Philip K. Dick. Best Visual Effects at the Oscars. Repeated plot twists. This movie is a guide of how action movies should be made. You noticed the style well, the director of Robocop and Total Recall is the same (Basic Instinct, Hollow man - must see). I think you will be disappointed with the remake
I just want to let you know (what you probably already know,) your sense of humour is great, your quips are quick and hilarious, and it's obvious to me that you're a deep, deep thinker and of high iq (as if that matters, in the least.) Keep posting.
Loved your reactions to some of my favorite movies. Blade Runner, Total Recall and Robocop. I notice you kind of dress for the occasion. In the Blade Runner reaction your fashion was of Rachel. Here is its kind of Lori. I really appreciate when content creators gio the extra mile and adding their creative touch . Good job!:). P.S. Avoid giving your cat dry food at all cost. Its full of carcinogens, waste material even sawdust as fillers. Predators organs are not designed to eat dry food. It gets them fat, ages them fast and destroys their organs. I learned from experience :(.
I appreciate it all so much!! And I only give my cat dry food as a little lunch, you should see the money I spend on her wet food lol she eats better than me!!
@@camcordercamerinYes they were and so were 80s Sci Fi movies. You should do reaction videos on these two 80s Arnold classics Commando and Running Man. You had me chuckling at 1:43 10:09 12:17 12:29 12:56
Great reactions as always cam glad u liked total recall please react to the classic movie basic instinct from 1992 ita by the same director of total recall and robocop and star ship troopers it stars sharon stone who u know from total recall looking beautiful as always too looking forward to seeing more reactions take care cam stay safe Anthony gibbs from South west London England ❤
Kuato lives! also ya know we usually scoff and side eye remakes but the remake for this one is actually well made and has some really sweet visuals, but obvi no where near as iconic as the og.
I really enjoy your commentary.👍Have you ever seen Arnold in "Predator"?🤔 "Get to the choppah!" is maybe the best delivered line of his career and def a meme. I hope you'll react to it and "Prey" the prequel. Assuming you haven't seen them.
A film that still holds up. Sharon Stone was fantastic. To follow was "Basic Instinct," a double edge sword for her. Huge attention but she was shamed relentlessly for that one scene and could never escape it's shadow. Deserved better: a great actress, highly intelligent with a wonderful sense of humor (she even dated comedic actor Larry Sanders for a while).
She's the reason Leo DiCaprio was in The Quick and the Dead. They didn't want to hire him for the film but she fought for him. She even supposedly paid his salary for the movie herself.
This is more Phillip K Dick - are we going to get a compare and contrast to the source material like we did with "Blade Runner"? And are you going to do "Minority Report" next?
Typical 80's movie. Imagination and entertainment. Paul Verhoven's american stage gave us movies that already classics. He bécame famous in Europe with Turkish Delight (1973). By the way, the remake is garbage.
Awesome reaction again, you’re hilarious!

If I could ever be in a movie I would want to be the human shield who gets turned into hamburger like the guy on the escalator

Knock-off Jack is Michael Ironside. I got to meet him and see this film at a festival where he was the guest of honor.
"This movie is cruel to small animals."

Great selection. Loved your reaction when the fake head deactivated. The effects were so cool for it's time.
so cool today too

Schwarzenegger on Broadway! Great reaction.
Schwarzenegger says: “read the books, now goddammit!”
Arnold's speaking got a lot better. His comic timing was always good. Thx for such an upbeat reaction!
"give these people ear!"
Delightful commentary, as always. You're a blast. Thank you!!

Right in the chicken nuggets!

12:28 You missed reacting to the “Blondes," scene. One of the funniest lines in this movie 😂
Mr Whiskers did win the coveted Golden Cheese Award at the Beijing Film Festival for this performance.
I cannot say I am surprised, I was speechless by his performance
It's not a rumor!
i have fallen in love with Arnold watching these movies - what an anomaly he is!
Don't bother with the remake just watch more Verhoven movies
8:34: That's what she said.

The Remake is.... PG-13. Need I say more?
🤮
@@camcordercamerin 😂🤣 read my mind here on the remake of Total Recall
I recommend watching Running Man.
Perfect recommendation
The lines that sound comical are supposed to be. Nobody can deliver a one-liner like Arnie. His delivery is intentional.
Camerin would fit in perfectly in this cast
I saw this movie in the theater in 1990.
