A damned good doctor. He gave them what they really needed, the chance to vent openly and honestly. He recognized that they really did want to stay together, so he used some reverse psychology on them and let them come to their own realization and decide to stay together.
I liked Dr. Ashley; he was informative and helpful in treating the four ladies with their problems while being ironically funny ("Shut up, Rose!"). It’s a comedy. Nobody in the show would usually talk like this in general with anyone. Nobody makes a quip every other second to everyone you interact with. Besides usually therapy isn’t simply handled in 1 session that only lasts less then 10 minutes.
The flashback where Rose puts Dorothy’s job ad in the personal column was hysterical! ‘Do anything for $8/hour, no job to big or small”. A bus load of Greek sailors show up wanting to pay her.
