I love the colour of the older sovereigns way more! Not a fan of the rose gold on them now. Great video buddy!! 🤙🏼
indeed, I will never understand why they make gold coins copper-colored and pink. Even if there's copper inside, they know very well how to hide the copper color if they want to.
Half Sovereign are nice and affordable a beautiful fractional piece. 👍🏼
Sure is!
Good to have a new vid SS. I've not collected the half Sovereign and prefer the 1/10oz Brits, Maples and Kangaroos. Nice little collection though!!
Missed your videos, nice to have you back mate
Glad you enjoyed should be back to weekly from now on 👌🏽
Me also... one if the few creators I listen to from across the pond.
Excellent shit
I have a half sovereign just because it was there at the coin store and I had extra money. I like them as an older gold coin, I would take either a half or a full sovereign.
It’s been a while, I hope you’re well 🙆♂️,
I’ve got a few halves, but I prefer an older full sovereign 🎉( no money, so I’ve not picked anything up for a while 😱).
Btw, the silver 1 ouncers are cool 👌.
Hey mate, yeah I think fulls are where it's at but don't mind a little side mission on these halves at the right price
I do like the half sovereigns and have a few👍
Nice pieces 👌 I've not got any half's at the minit just doing full ones, thanks for your good knowledge 👍
Cool you shouldn't go too far wrong with full sovs
Half's are the main component of my stack, I just love having a handful of them
Awesome it is a great thing to have a handful of for sure
I've other stuff too but just love a handful of CGT stuff 🙃 lol
6:51 I'm not against getting some for my stack. Great video👍🏻
as always a great video, would buy 1/2 Sovs when premiums are good. Great point regards 1/2's being the new full sovs if spot prices increase......I know you should buy in regardless as averages out over time but still coming to terms with the jump from £1700 per ounce to circa £1900. £1850 per oz as I write this. Waiting for gold spot to lower ( see how this comments ages ) At least silver has taken an upside. Keep up the good work, almost at 5K subs
Yeah a little volatility in the prices recently. I do think we'll see lower gold prices again but obviously long term bullish on gold price Vs fiat (or bearish on fiat however you look at it)
Half sovs and some quality old paper currency is my target for the rest of 2024 and next year
Nice half sovereign! 👍
Thanks 👍
love sovereigns and half Sovereigns! filling a tube of half sov's at the min' then on to the full sov's!
Due to such high premiums on 1/2 sovs I have so far found it easy to justify saving a little longer and buying a full one. Sometimes the half sovs are more expensive then the full ones? I understand they may be rarer though there are just too many full sovereigns left for me to wish for. Now I am getting older and the eyesight is fading I am even looking towards the double sovereigns. It does take a little longer to save for those though. 😂🤣😂 thanks for the great video 🍻
Welcome back, SS!
Thanks, should be back to weekly videos again now
dont have any but would like some. come up a lot less often in Australia
Ahh yes. Luckily the Perth mint have some stunning products I guess
Half proof sovereign's absolutely. Some large premiums on 70 graded examples, especially 1980's, 1989, 90's, 2002, 2005, 2012, 2016, 2022 & 2023.
Yeah not a bad option still for collecting a range without spending as much as fulls
Beautiful Half Sovereign collection! I’ve started collecting the US Mint Commemorative Gold Coins. I think of them as the American Sovereign. Easy to collect, great price points, and good 90% price. Thanks for sharing! PiFS 🐀
Not tempted with the half Sovereigns.
Premiums always too high, ie, less gold for your money. Can't see halfs becoming and remaining anything but an item for the occasional purchaser.
SilverDadKnows here. Love your work. I’m about to hit 1k subscribers. Hope to be in your shoes some day.
I hope so too!
I will be adding Sovereigns to my stack!
Half sovereigns seem now to be in bigger demand then sovereigns because of the price of gold, and halfsovereigns are a lot scarcer then the full sovereign. Half sovereigns are also like more by many woman because of their size. But when you consider that sovereigns are getting on for £500 now, many people cannot afford them, so have gone to Half's and 20 fr gold coins.
Been hanging out for a new video mate. What are the tricky dates that you are still looking for with full sovereigns?
There's a handful. Some aren't necessarily tricky just pricey like the first few years
There are rumors of the mint getting rid of the Tudor beasts, what are your thoughts? They already killed the monarch collection.
I've made a video about this which will be out soon 👍🏼
Love the Half Vic Shields
Half sovereigns sort of crept up on me in my mission to close my date gaps.
I added 1860 and 1877 to accompany my four 1892 shield backs.
Then a couple of really nice George V 1911 and 1912,
When is came to our late QE2, the half sovereigns that are usually incuded boxed proof sets from 1994 - 1996 made a couple of 50th centenary 2002 shields a no brainer.
By now, any prejudice about half sovereigns has long since been left behind. Then others followed...2001, 2007 and 2018.
So does 16 half sovereigns make me a collector? Not really, but I do feel that little bit more diversified.
Ive been selling my worn high mintage sovs and getting silver and a couple of proofs but shields ive barely seen any for sale, but struggled getting silver at a fair price. Got my first half a couple months back 1982 proof but halfs have a slight premium to fulls not much a little. Gold and silver is expensive atm , maybe the new norm?
Enjoy your videos as usual :) Do you have a link to the coin capsules and coin tube ?
There are some links in the video description 👍🏼
