- In this Minecraft video, I test out the new Minecraft 1.20 Trails and Tales snapshot and experiment with the Callibrated Sculk sensor in order to make a simple Minecraft anti-elytra defense system. This Minecraft redstone weapon is very simple, reliable, and easy to build. Use this Minecraft Java Edition anti aircraft system to defend your base from a Minecraft nuke, or base invasion. This redstone weapon is perfect for Minecraft civilization experiments, factions servers, and anarchy servers.

If you see, anti-elytra technology is something really important, there isnt much you can do about elytras in this game. Nice job mate.
What's the problem with elytras? I know this game for more than 8 years and I still cannot get it.
@@user-oq7xc5qp3y Elytras are op, simply.
You can avoid fights, that only occur on ground.
@@EnderMega log out button does the same, enderpearls do the same, enderpearl stasis does the same.
@@EnderMega what makes elytras special?
@@user-oq7xc5qp3yMost servers punish you for combat log; enderpears statis, yeah, nothing you can do about that. But preals dont do much, it used in cpvp alot, if your oponent preals away you can preal back to him, but if your oponent FLIES AWAY, no, you cant get him on the air. Minecraft air combat doesnt work.
I feel like there has to be a way to use sculk sensors to triangulate a player's position and basically do guided attacks. Maybe some kind of smart TNT cannon combined with sculk sensor detection could be used to reliably hit players, but I feel like any redstone computation needed to do the actual math to make that work would be so complicated and slow that it wouldn't be practical
cool idea. you can do a lot with zero-tick nowadays, although i assume you would need computation of sine and cosine and i'm not sure if that's possible
maybe four or more to get basic tracking
Based on the needed precision sin can be pre-computed and accessed with a lookup table. Cos(x) is just sin(90-x); if working in degrees. Music disks can store 4 bits of data so might be usable for table storage.
Have toyed with the idea of an automated 'no fly/no go zone' in my head for quite a few months but don't have any of the details worked out.
(Sky sensor network relayed downward to an instawire mesh below ground, each step down of sky sensor layer increases the number of sensors tripped at the ground determining height & position, use multiple tnt stations that accelerate a single arrow at different times/places to computed coordinates based on best fitting Bezier curve fitted to at least 3 sensor readings, ..., multilayer regenerative walls and 'ground' to prevent access to the computer from the ground)
Would be fun to build and try to get working one day.
@@SWRDMaster if accelerated arrows are your kill method, you might have trouble given that by the time the arrow reaches the computed position the target might have moved out of that position - unless it's fast enough to hit them immediately after the sensor goes off, which might be possible, i don't know enough about technical redstone
Completely agree. Charging tnt for launch would also be time consuming. Figure a few accelerated arrows should clear the air and save the sensors/ground from tnt damage.
Not to mention calibrated sculk sensors can be hard coded to only detect elytra passing
i forgot about that lol

See weird stuff floating in the sky, fly near it to check it out, hear an explosion ahead of you, go "huh that was odd" realize the contraption does nothing, fly past it.
Or the tnt was nearer the edge of the skulk sensor’s range and you die
@@J0hnB09 Much less likely to happen than it just blowing up randomly not on you. You wouldn't fly past some shit like this at full speed ignoring it.
😂😂😂😂
This was a one-direction mine, you can make Omni-directional mines just by repeating the sequence both on the sensor and in all directions from the sensor. More expensive but expense is not an issue in late game Minecraft
@@youtubealt243 And you can easily fly above the build limit with elytra, There is a tiny chance this works on 1 person once on a server. Then its design is known and people will just fly over it. This is a novelty, no actual function and it would be insane to actually build these surrounding a base.
I wonder, if given enough time and practice, one could learn to fly through the holes in the circles and avoid the mechanisms
Probably, but I only built it like that so it would have a nice grid pattern. You could always just put the mechanisms closer together to make the holes smaller. Might make an interesting minigame though
You could, if you see these contraptions, fly close enough to trigger, then fly away, wait for the explosion, then fly on through
@@danielsieker9927 or fly in the other direction
@@celsiusnebula yeah but then whoever set up the traps won without using them, you champion. The point is tricking the defence, not giving up
@@danielsieker9927 i formulated my point incorrectly. the traps only work if you fly in a certain direction. if you fly in the opposite direction, you can trigger the trap without dying. (or use blast protection 4, but im not sure if that would work)

The sculk sensors are probably calibrated to exclusively look for elytra flight
We’ve done it lads. We now have military grade anti-aircraft weapons in Minecraft. We’re leaving the Stone Age and sprinting to the modern era.
soon we will have CBU and surface to air missiles
We're more like moving from medieval era. Cause yknow, generic TNT cannons were there a long time.
@@pixel273a no the medieval era was tnt cannons
@@ShadowDancer1000 That's what i meant, TNT cannons WERE the medieval era, we move on to somewhat WW1 tech i think, this anti-elytra defence reminds me of WW1 small unmanned blimps used to block planes from moving around a specific area where they are flying at + they had chains to catch planes on, you xan replicate that by putting iron bars all the way to ground.
Ok, but we already have nukes. What more could we possibly need?
I don't know how, but it's the third time you upload a video with a working contraption a day after I come up with an idea of pretty much the same thing. However, everytime you do it much better than me... Anyway, good job
Great minds think alike, I went through quite a few bad designs myself before eventually coming up with this one
work together! engineering is best with a team!
@@tertsv7746 Engineers aren't exactly team players
waterlogging the sculk sensor will also make it undetectable so victims wouldn't know what triggered the trap

great design, but what if the elytra-player just slow down just closer enough to trigger the calibrated sculk sensor ? There should be another TNT nuke right next to the calibrated sculk sensor
Yeah I considered that but didn’t add it in for simplicity, I’ll probably bring it up in the tutorial
consider the use of trapping something like a nether tunnel, if it doesn't have a iceboat track, people will be using the elytra to navigate through it.
It would be child's play for calibrated sensors go under the tunnel to set up a trap like this. by the time they hear the sensor go off, they're dead.
@@WhatIsMyPorpoiseor just adding it in an area of the nether which isn't that high
that's actually really smart@@WhatIsMyPorpoise
Why bother slowing down though? The defenses are super obvious and can be totally countered by either flying over or flying parallel to the wall, triggering many of the traps in short succession, thus costing excessive resources for rhe defender, for very little risk to the self. Tbh, these things are the sort of thing that would only work once or twice.
This is unrelated but the title makes me think that a mining fatigue like effect on elytras can actually be really good for the game, something with the same debuff as mining fatigue but with the same radius as a beacon. It can set up isolated areas in the world where elytras are rendered useless and therefore the player is forced to either go around it or do whatever challenge there is in that area. It may also be great in servers where you want a base that's only accessible through walking to showcase build sight lines. For pvp this can be very interesting since it can restrict access to the elytra and force the player to finally use their chestplates for once.
Using elytra in combat was always so rewarding I’ve gotta get back into it
figured this video was coming!! big improvement with the upgraded calibrated sensor range :)
Didn’t expect this to be a legitimately viable strategy good job
I swear to god the minecraft community one day is gonna discover tech to make 100% accurate arrow railgun AA batteries
They already did that. Without AA batteries.
What about launching tnt... kinda like serface to air tnt? That sounds really cool. Basically make a flak cloud using skulk sensors.
some flaws are the gaps in the circles, but odds of someone making it through without that being highlighted is slim. But what happens if someone slows down or stops short of the tnt?
Those gaps can be covered by just arranging the sensors in a denser pattern
The slow-down is an issue but if you consider the entire configuration disposable
Just add more TNT scatters along the detection rod's length, you can also make the rods strike at any of the four axis by just making it a cross with the sensor at the center rather than a rod
@@syrelian Another flaw is that you can just... go over it?
@@the-dn3zw I mean, yeah, this isn't particularly practical for open-air defense, but its probably pretty useful for trapping common zones, especially things like transit tunnels or aerial exits/entrances, the configuration itself can work on any mode of movement that generates noise by just reconfiguring the crystal skulk and adjusting length and delay for normal speed as well
this is a cutting-edge idea I haven't seen before.
u can do an iron dome with this, only problem, is countered by firework crossbows (similar of how flares and chaff work on aircraft)
Great work!
Quite impressive!
Very impressive!!
calibrated skulk sensor is still omni-directional and as such just a proximity sensor
what we need next is probably a directional skulk sensor, whose detection volume is a narrow but long beam
These would be easily disarmed... Just do a perpendicular flyby of the sensor ends to set them off, then flu throythe new holes in the grid.
True. You could add more tnt clusters, but they probably wouldn’t be particularly effective at countering. These devices seem better suited for delaying an invasion than stopping one (although that isn’t bad)
@@modernmajorgeneral4669I feel like a regular wall would delay you more than this tho
That’s probably true. On second thought, these anti-elytra mines are probably best for traps than the backbone of a defense
@@svendinsvinderlin4569 not much. Just fly straight up til you go above build height. Ain't no wall stopping you that far up.

Well, that's useful. Thanks.
Now, behold. The flying over y:320 tactic.
Still is a useful technology to defend a tight place like a big cave entrance.
Make these vertical across the top near y=320. You can go over, but not in. Problem solved.
Malorem if possible, mind making a Redstone tank? Well I'd suggest making the box tank which is the French ww1 tank Saint Chamond or the German ww1 tank the A7V
Anti-Air mines, Bluetooth, sand based teleportation, arrow frag grenades. Minecraft is truly reaching limitless possibilities
Ive long wanted a Minecraft server that offered magic and subclasses, and like one of the Mage spells would be Area Denial. Stuff like rings of protection, wards, AOE's, etc. One of them would definitely be air restriction
I like to use the calibrated sculk sensor (signal strenght of one which is movement) to determine motion detection at a given range. It is useful for security for any people trying to sneak up into your base, making you aware of their presence.
"Oh cool what are these things?"
*flies and lands next to sensor. Other side blows up*
HES BACK
I mean thats neat but also really easy to avoid
Played too much clash of clans now the air mines are in Minecraft..
Now we wait until someone designs anti air missiles 😂
Bro you need a 2 part system, heavy flak air mines (your example here) and light flak firework launchers with max power and diff durations so you can cover a massive area with said flak, and water direction based system to cover diagonally (not effective but its the best and probably only option) so you can cover a build in light flak guns and ghast anti flight machines artilleries and your air mine system to maximize effectiveness
Like that weird Pinocchio once said:
"I love it!"
Bros out here making anti air weapon in minecraft 😂😂😂
Idk this is probs only usable for megabases (im envisoning some kind of honeycomb tunnel wall if you dont know the right one you get blown up), but at that point killing them once would do little to stop them from griefing you when they come back so pretty useless (well it might be good if you shoot the tnt upwards and put the trap in the ground then its a pretty good trap for random travellers) One way the trap should be changed is detecting if someone comes from the wrong side (or goes sideways aka triggers an adjacent sensor to the side that would disarm the trap)
Zakviel's anti-air defense worked even before that, but was more cumbersome
**Intense flying over the build limit noises**
Bro nice tech
Wow, nice machine.
Lol I instantly thought of you when I heard about these
you could just fly along the edge of the perimeter and that would set off all the charges. neat idea tho
if you are getting chased by other players using elytra, you can practically usee these passive traps as offensive weapons by simply going onto the other side (tnt side first) and then activate the skulk. If timed right, you will fly past the explosions whislt the opps get bombarded (if given enough distance from u)
Bro I remember being excited about the fact I could dig another 60 blocks in like beta. Now I am watching a tutorial for AA mines.
Seems we need "wild weasel" in minecraft too...?
Like Bow as Anti-Radiation Missile
In 2025: Hey guys, I made an integrated air defense system in Minecraft.
You could cover it with fighter jets and have a fighter fleet protect your base!
Those modules could be made even better with wireless redstone available in create mod
if someone flies slow enough or is curious and lands on the tip, they'll just watch the explosion on the other tip , it needs to explode MORE
Now i wait for the the elytra chaff tech
Wow eso es asombroso!
Me: Flies above build limit
The problem will be that you can only build them up to 320 heights, and the elytra can fly infinitely high, which is why it is enough to fly high enough
You should find a way to make a reloading system, so they're not single use and can take out multiple elytra users
I'm scared to ask your intentions

Bruv is talking like this is some serious warfare advancement, and I'm all in for it
If you were tech savvy enough with redstone, you could also make a kill zone that crashes the game of anyone who sets off the system, meaning that they cant avoid the effects, and are forced to remain grounded.
After reading the title I had the image of someone using an elytra getting obliterated by a flak cannon
flies on the tnt side outside of skulk detection range
Finally, a flak canon!
havent played this game in a few yrs and now mojang is pioneering echolocation technology
Ah yes anti air weapons a find addition to my redstone base that I totally would build in the next couple decade
I guess that some people tend to fly without looking at where they are going.
This is really when the face of warfare changed forever
they added flight duration three again? let's go
wait so if I see this kind of structure I can just fly in slowly
and then immediately fly out
triggering the sensor but not getting blown up?
This is all well and good until you realize they'd be a pain to make without an elytra to get up to them
Build Limit Go Brrrr
Grian: * spams rockets in opposite direction*
It is just from that single direction though, wonder if there can be one for any direction
What if you use a sensor that detects the Elytra and fires arrows/tnts from multiple spots all at once, so even if the target moves you have a good chance of hitting them if they are still in the area of the cannon
TNT should be placed on the track as well in case they just land on the stick
say hello to phantoms
Forget about anti-air flak cannons, this is an airmine, imagine a 1000x1000 area with landmines and airmines.
the biggest downside is that they only work once, though they don't seem that expensive to restoke if you have a gun powder farm and a iron farm, not exactly hard farms to make
minecraft better add the AGM-88 High-speed Anti-Skulk Sensor Missile in 1.22 so we can make suppression of enemy air defense missions possible
Babe wake up, anti-air mines are in vanilla minecraft
then i suppose you could hard code it into only detecting elytras. and also with the remote control cat thing that you have made a video on you could make a remote switch for it
Finally, floating landmines. Just what I needed to get rid of those pesky flying players.
The radar dodging mission in ace combat seven
nah we have surface to air missiles in minecraft now 😭 whats next? APS like Shtora-1 to stop firework rockets from crossbows?
finally CRAM in minecraft
mojang added sculk senors but minecraft player really made a working tnt anti air missiles💀
recreated submarine mines of the 50s
Anti Air Technology is beautiful
I think it would become ineffective if players trigger the sensor first and not actually going to the explosion radius
This is pretty interesting and could have a potential, but, because of the whole delay mechanism thing, it is...
1. Strictly directional;
2. Pretty unreliable, as you're assuming the player is going full ahead with elytra;
3. Probably really inconsistent;
4. If somebody knows how it works, it's really easy to bait it into exploding and continue on with your day;
5. And the detection range still isn't a large enough of a radius to create an ''unassuming'' looking trap like that, unless it's concealed in a decent looking exterior so that it looks like a base/afk platform or something else. Even then you'll need a lot of them, which is a lot of building and decorating, for a one time use trap that would require near full rebuilding once it's gone off, _if it gets the target to begin with._
Interesting tech, but I don't think it'll have much of a practical use. Maybe it could work if someone's flying in a tight space, where fully concealing it is easy and somebody will for sure be caught in its blast radius with basically no escape, but definitely not in open air.
Its pretty usefull for Minecraft Civilization server😅
Using it with command blocks will be wild
