    I`ve been a metalhead since 11 years old and now I am 45, I have more then 400 albums at home in heavy genres from different bands from all decades and I agree with you that Jinjer is a gift that we suddenly have now and its so much re-light the heavy sound genre in general. From my perspective they are not just a great band - they do much bigger work - they constantly show that there are still so much unexplored depths of what you can do with your songwriting and performing and that personally for me gives an impulse and joy not nlu hear them but other bands and keep exploring the heavy metal continent.

    • @JohnDoe-ls2zu
      @JohnDoe-ls2zu 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Yes, I agree. I think Metal has been pretty stagnant (nothing new) for the last 20 years or so. The last fresh band was Slipknot, and that was 1999. Jinjer is the first new metal band that I've been exited about since Slipknot. Don't get me wrong, there's been good bands, but Jinjer is on another level.

    As a musician the one thing I love about their live performances is that they back off the gain. Because of this you can hear the instruments clearly during the heavy parts and the vocals... Tati sings like an angel but I love how her deep growls live aren't processed.
    Maybe when they get to where they deserve to be and doing their own arena/stadium tours they can have their sound engineer specifically enhance the performance but until then, I hope they don't change a thing.

      @j.f.fisher5318 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Destroy from that same album (Inhale Don't Breathe) is also epic. These are songs from the original quite capable male singer that Tati brutally owned after he left the band because being merely good or even great isn't enough to make it as a musician in Ukraine. I had ignored this album at first since Tati didn't write the songs but Destroy convinced me to buy it (afaik only available as a CD on Amazon). Best sound for Destroy by far is the 2011 Beastarium recording session video.

    They played at 11:00 AM ! Before lunch, and you can see how packed it was. This shows 2 things: The quality of the band and the spirit of Wacken. There's no festival like this one. It's holy ground.

    • @HorseloverFat1984
      @HorseloverFat1984 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I've been a metalhead for a long time and it's been a while since I was this excited about some band. They said they don't like to label their music, but if they really have to it is progressive/groove metal. I love this live better than studio one because the contrast between heavy and soft parts is bigger. Her cleans sound much warmer, vibrato was great (while the studio voice sound flat and cold, overproduced), belting was also very precise, despite she was tired.

    No Jinjer is a band that comes along once. There will never be a band that has their unique sound. That's why they stand out. I can remember a time back in the late 90's early 00's how so many bands were coming out that sounded like Killswitch Engage clones. I always look for a band that has a sound that is new and creative. Fresh is good. Jinjer continue to push limits and I look forward to the next decade.

    JINJER started as a metalcore band (although they have always incorporated other elements like groove metal) they have pretty much moved on to progressive metal. I'm really not a fan of labeling everything, because the elitist always want to argue. It's just great music!

    • @FalconFlurry
      @FalconFlurry 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I would agree with the labeling thing. Back in the day metal sub-genres were pretty well defined, but today so many bands do not stick to one genre, let alone one sub-genre, so I just thought, "what's the point?" why bother stressing over what sub-genre it is? Metal is metal, let's just enjoy it for what it is. When people ask what (sub) genre they are now I just say Metal.

    • @killermonjero
      @killermonjero 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      FalconFlurry: I agree completely. There are so many so-called sub-genres of metal that it is now ridiculous and some are so specific that they have no meaning. It's just metal. And, really, isn't that good enough?

    I definitely agree with you saying they're unique. I listen to a ton of metal and there are a lot bands that I just can't classify correctly. A few examples: Gojira, Avatar, Vektor. I guess they all have roots in one subgenre, but they're just so much more and no other band sounds like them, even if they try.

  • @FalconFlurry
    @FalconFlurry 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I had an interesting conversation on Reddit about people losing their accent when singing
    www.reddit.com/r/NoStupidQuestions/comments/9prjw0/why_do_singers_sound_like_they_have_no_accent
    As far as binging Jinjer goes there's a few ways to do it. They have 34 songs to date. 3 songs don't really fit in and won't be played live (Prologue, Beggar's Dance and Micro), so that leaves 31. Then subtract the 6 you already did and you have 25. If you did two songs in every video every day starting tomorrow you would be done on the 14th.
    Or...
    You could focus on the songs that will likely be played live... Every new single that comes out before then is guaranteed, so do that but it likely won't be more than one.
    Every song on the Micro EP is guaranteed except Micro, so that's four, but you already did two, leaving only Ape and Dreadful Moments.
    Any song but the first and last on King of Everything is fair game which leaves 8, minus the two you did, Pisces and Captain Clock (I think?), so 6. You probably won't get more than one song from Cloud Factory, sadly and it will probably be Who is Gonna Be the One, that seems to be the only one they still play from that album, but you heard it already. Small chance you could get Cloud Factory or Outlander, so you could throw those two in.
    99.999% chance you won't get anything from Inhale, Don't Breathe or OIMACTTA, but if you do it will be Scissors which is a great song, so just do it anyway.
    All in all if you only do the songs that have a chance of being played that gives you 11 songs to react to which you could easily do before the concert, plus it would still leave something to look forward to after the concert

  • @PlugInKali
    @PlugInKali 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They are progressive metalcore. Since you're starting out in metal it might be very helpful to you to search in Wikipedia what exactly that means. Which elements of the genre you enjoy and which you don't and that will help you figure out what other genres or bands you might want to explore next. You want something less technically complex? Try metalcore. Do you want something complex but without the harsh vocals? Try progressive metal. Can't get enough of that sweet sweet bass? Go for djent. And if you want another awesome progressive metalcore/djent band, I recommend Periphery.

    Talk about social media, I got into a shitstorm recently on social media over some hateful post of a girl that accused the driver who ran over her dog at night of doing it intentionally. And all these people took her version for granted and wished him all the worst without even hearing his side, so I basically roasted them in a really indelicate manner. Yeah, it was very self gratifying seeing them keep their narrow minds unchanged and start shitting on me in return for questioning the truthfulness of the story, although it was kinda the opposite of earning their acceptance. Oh and Jinjer rocks!

    I haven't reached the music part yet. I'm not a huge fan of social media myself and I'm 19. I figured when I was younger how much I and my friends really tried hard for the photos to be so glamorous just to receive those compliments and to be looked up on (and chicks obviously). I really found that disturbing at some point. I now only post photos that mean a lot to me and is never just myself. Either me at a special location or with a special person. Now that I think about it, the last time I posted any selfie was 2017 if I'm not wrong. It's like we've all become enslaved by this urge to feel accepted based on what others see about our lives on social media, which could be true or just a disguise to show how good or bad we're having it, either for the praise or for people to feel sorry for you.

    I rather watch someone who's genuine that I don't even agree with than the fake bullshit plastered all over TH-cam these days.

    I'm not sure you can place jinjer into a genre. Maybe groove metal? They're like a genre unto themselves. They're definitely pushing the boundaries of metal and forging a style unique to their own artistry. What I've noticed is that they incorporate so many different styles, including ones outside of the metal genre. They're in a league of their own if you ask me.

    I think that artists/bands that aren't from the US grew up listening to American bands. So, they mimic the singing they heard, So, the natural accents aren't that present in their singing. Another theory I have heard is they've been taught by "entertainment industry insiders" that having a foreign accent will limit the exposure they could possibly get. It's like a lot actors/actresses from different parts of America especially the Southern US. They've actually trained to tone down or get rid of the twang/drawl or heavy accent in their voices.

      You get tought britain english in school here in europe. And if you learn a song with all nuances, youre not learning the words like speaking a language. You learn the melody and pronunciation and when you perform, its like running on autopilot. That has nearly nothing to do with the US.

    Hey Trey, love your Jinjer reactions and permanent drinking whiskey! You're definitely into this band and I, as a fan of them, really appreciate it :) Where's the link to your insta?

    Gratification and attention whores, that's what (anti)social media is turning the feeble-minded humans into. Fortunately, there's still a large group of resistants among us.
    Dang, I wasn't expecting an inverted video! What the hell happened? O_o
