You need to have a lot of vocal technique to sing like that without hurting yourself and still keep your vocals clean and beautiful/in tune, but the girl in the video doesn't understand anything and thinks it's just shouting haha!

There doesn't have to be meaning to a song to enjoy it. You dont have to undersand lyrics to enjoy a song. Your sister claiming that all she heard was "aaahhhh" clearly didnt listen to the song. I could clearly hear what was being said. Shes tone deaf for sure and she just cant seem to grasp the concent of music. She probably is a pop artist fan that makes things sound the exavt same for every song and its so clear what its about

I think it's partly the contrast. If a singer always sounds melodic, it's great but you're used to it. If they always sound brutal, it's cool but it gets monotonous. Bands like (older) Opeth and Jinjer have a secret bonus to the emotion. The transitions make the melodies feel more melodic, the brutality feels more brutal. The drawback is the band has to be ridiculously skilled to pull this off, because they all have to learn both. Doubly so if they're adding in the time signature shenanigans.

Dying on the hill of “I can’t understand the lyrics” is really interesting to me because it’s not difficult at all to look up the lyrics and read them alongside. Even then, just because one person can’t listen through the screaming doesn’t no one else can. But what’s really annoying is her trying to make fake narratives about Metal having a small audience which is factually incorrect. Trying to lie about something you admitted that you don’t understand is really weird to me. Opinions are one thing, lies and fake narratives are another.

Obviously late to this, but my counter is that if you can't extract any meaning from a song without having to understand all the lyrics, then you're not listening to the actual music. Lyrics exist to support the tone created by the instrumentation and vocal delivery. Personally, lyrics are usually the last thing I pay attention to in a song. Also saying SPencer's vocals are just one tone is wild, he covers close to the entire spectrum of timbres a vocalist could ever hope to use well brilliantly in just this one song.

I can understand them for most part it depends like on the video its more clearer but like in live performance they can be like she said though I can tell the difference of what they saying plus heard song on other videos lol there's lots of videos bunch are lyrics videos you don't have to look up the lyrics there's lyrics songs for all kinds of music lol yeah there's lots of songs old and new that I'm like what are they saying it sounds like this but its that lol but I can still appreciate the beat the music the lyrics I do understand sometimes its funny in those rap songs I'm like it sounds like this and its something is this really what they saying lol probably not but its funny lol these guys are more easier to understand than other bands like korn or some metallica songs lol there's even some old songs I'm now listening to on lyrics videos and I'm like oh that's what they saying always figured they were saying something else and those are like some classic songs whatrver you wanna call it rock or soft rock like some bands like reo speedwagon or like Kansas or different bands like that lol

i watched roman's guitar play through of this song without the vocals... and it is SO MUCH BETTER than with vocals.... it's not even close... the riffs are incredible but you can't tell with the singing that doesn't match them and acts only as distraction

I have to say, the fact that Spencer can write all these songs dedicated to each horro movie takes WAY more talent then a lot of pop songs out there that are just anout breaking up or whatever. He made full dedications to well loved classics and did them so phenomenally. I unsdettand not everyone enjoys this style, but it’s a style that still deserves respect.
