Well done! I am an electrician and on big jobs I see whole dumpster full of conduit stubs thrown out this length. I have always wanted to build a conduit dome. Yours looks great, cheers.
You certainly did a great job. I myself and I know many others definitely appreciate your efforts. Thank you for your very informative videos. From the heart, God bless.
Thanks for this excellent post. Same techniques work for greenhouse or workshop, shelter, etc. I'd never seen the value of an hydraulic press demonstrated so well.
I've built one of Paul's wooden hub-less domes a few years back. They look beautiful but they take quite a lot of timber ripping. Recently I purchased a 5 metre diameter dome kit using the steel struts similar to that shown in this video. It's amazing how strong the frame becomes when it's all bolted together.
I notice he (Paul Robinson geo-etc.) gives me, GIVES ME FREE! all the clues of his brief in-depth conversation “ here. Eye-bolts for the floor, parachute cover, all evidence for my slow mind. But (Paul and)TH-cam lets me review over and over again
What dome kit did you purchase? Ive made a magidome recently and looking to expand my skills into conduit/metal domes to get to airbnb level dimensions
Structures like these are perfect for putting up at RV parks for keeping bikes out of the weather and even suspending a hammock away from the mosquitoes.
Great job love your work I world like to know what would be the best way to cover it looks amazing thanks for sharing I have one of your books I saw on one of your videos you were writing anew book but I don't know where to purchase it have you stopped making videos it's ashame i miss seeing your work thanks for sharing hope all is well
wrap it in shrink wrap then add aircrete on top and you have an igloo you can turn into a sauna... or just shrink wrap it for a greenhouse. I've seen it take years for shrink wrap to break down in the sun.
Thanks for sharing the information. An issue has become a mystery to me. How much extra should be calculated on each side of the pipe compared to the value of the calculator and how much should be flattened on each side. And does the radius of the center circle of the hub decrease from the length of the pipe in the PVC dome?
Yes, please Paul can you post the strut length and bending angle? And thank you for all your videos, I am presently constructing an underground Hobbit House 10 ft by 20 ft 7ft deep. There will be steps in the back leading up to my ground level bedroom. Covered by your dome! Sleeping under the stars. Thanks to you.😉 I will gladly send you photos of the work in progress to finish. The mini excavater is reserved for next Wensday!! bUT i WOULD LOVE TO USE THIS FRAME, JUST NEED DIMENSIONS. tO BE PERFECTLY HONEST WITH YOU i AM A DISABLED VETERAN, BECAUSE OF SEVERE HEAD INJURY I HAVE TROUBLE CALCULATING THE MATH. But my construction and following instructions are excent. Please I will appreciate any aid you or your members could give me. Thank you again Paul. You are my new hero.👐
I made a 20 ft diameter dome and slept in it for 3 months. I have since recycled the conduit into various racks, A-frames, and I'm thinking about making window awnings next.
Hi Paul. I'm thinking about fiberglass rebar struts to use for my geodesic dome frame. Did you try to use that material before? I just wondering if it's will be stable under UV of sunlight.
Greetings Appreciate your video I’m from saskatchewan Canada We get extremely hot and cold weather with wind I’ve been looking into making a 3v dome some 24ft diameter to use as a 4 season work area for larger projects and a green house I have a small work area that I could manufacture the struts in. Construct in winter if it’s nice days around minus 10c Questions What thickness of aluminum piping is used? Size of hole drilled and length of bolts Thankyou
Unfortunate that non-standard construction is not allowed or too expensive in many places. It is hard to meet building codes designed for conventional buildings.

makes me crazy when i see all these people grinding with no mask. I used to do that all the time, grinding with no protection at all. Take a look at the crap you are breathing in. All of the disc turns to dust then there is the metal dust and sometimes paint dust etc. It's mad not to wear a mask. I guess you could say the same about driving a car with the windows down, all the brake dust and other dust on the roads but lets face it thats going a bit too far. In the future of electric cars we will almost never use brakes as we can recharge the batteries with the kinetic energy, slowing down the vehicle in the process. Anyway i'm getting very sidetracked. Nice project.
@@shaun6828 Probably due to new plastic off gassing in the sun. I don;t really like the smell of new cars. That's one of the reasons i like driving and maintaining older vehicles. I mean, most of them are close to the year 2000 + - a few years. I do have a 73 RV in USA which is a bit old to be efficient, but pollution wise for the amount of use it gets it's almost irrelevant by comparison of people who drive daily. Not much off gassing going on in that one!
What is the biggest conduit frame you can build? Is 100 foot diameter 6v dome something that would break under it's own weight? Is 1 inch or 1/2 inch better? Is stronger better or lighter better? It doesn't need to be claimable. Just able to hold up a rain water collection UV protected greenhouse plastic.
I just put together two massive desks using emt conduit and makerpipe connectors, and made probably close to 100 pipe cuts. I never thought to use an angle grinder. 🙄

glue. but you would have to get the triangles cut, It would be possible to make this out of a flat or angled material with a bit of thought you could find a different way to attach glass. you could just make glass triangles with holes in the corners and then bolt them all together, might work with toughened glass but v expensive! or with perspex

Great job! Nice and simple and very neatly made. Also, I like how you left the sped up sound in the video - cracked me up :)
Thanks for filming your build. Very enjoyable and great music to accompany your hard work. Inspiring.
I've seen this method of dome construction before, but the clamp you used to hold the tubing for marking is something I'll have to remember for later.
Thanks, good video.
How can i put the cover panels in this type of domo ?
Had one at my primary school in the late 1960s - I didn't appreciate it at the time. It was bigger or, was it that I was smaller back then?
Beautiful build Paul!

Questions
What thickness of aluminum piping is used?
Size of hole drilled and length of bolts
Thankyou
It's galvanized electrical conduit. ⅝ or ¾.
Sir, is it possible to build house with this frames? Possibly with thicker pipes? Thank you for sharing knowledge.
There are plenty of examples of houses just search you tube "doom houses"
@@MrIlangovans , better results to search a "dome house". ;)

De qué medidas cortaste los tubos
is there a CALCULATOR available, please...for the strut lengths? thanks! :-)
Me puede decir como saca exactamente las medidas de los huecos para que encajen y se forme la cupula saludos
What kinds of pipes?
Qual medida em mm que foi prensada?
Great work!
what are the specs of the conduit poles? How much weight can it hold?
Nice! Wondering to save time, if would be easier to make a tool and die to just stamp, cut hole and cut rounded edge at the same time?
Yes if you where doing a lot that would be the best solution, I might look at something because this is quite an easy way to build lots of things.
was It a v3 Dome? And what about the sphere? 7/12? Great job, thanks!
What angle is on the ends? Maybe a close-up of the die in your press?
Could you please tell me what is the name and size of the tube that you used so I could order it off amazon?
It's 25mm electrical conduit, wall thickness is 1.6mm I think, better go to a electrical trade store, I think they would be cheaper than Amazon.
Saludos..se cortan todos de la misma medida

I've heard that the air inside the car is often worse than the air that would be coming in from outside.

Larger tubing is always stronger, the length of the struts would be one of the biggest factors in deciding tubing diameter.
@@edgarpryor3233 is there a formula?

Hola amigo cómo puedo saber la frecuencia de los tubos para un domo de 6 metros de diámetro ?
Hi, good morning. How thick is the pipe? 1.6mm?
Yes, correct
Hola soy de Argentina bs as quería saber si se pueden hacer de que medidas de largo
Which plan is this one on the website?
Wow, I would like to make a shed out of this.
@very-very end: used parachute? Useful, thanks
What are those bolts you used called with the ring to connect the struts? Thank you for your video

Nice work. Really like all your different designs. What the spec on the conduit?
3/4 inch or bigger for climbing depending on the strut size. The conduit looks like it is 1 inch in the video.
I just put together two massive desks using emt conduit and makerpipe connectors, and made probably close to 100 pipe cuts. I never thought to use an angle grinder. 🙄
How did you cut the pipe? Pipe cutter I'm guessing
Y como le saco las medidas
What a cool project! I love how simple it is and the finished project turned out beautiful.
How is it holding up after a few years of use?
I'm not sure why paul bends the ends
Dear Paul please tell me
what is the diameter and wall thickness of the pipe
25mm OD 1.6mm wall thickness.

There are several great geodesic dome calculators online.
very neat workshop....
Paul you are good.
wow nice how much did it cost and how long did t take you to build?

Any idea about the measurements or where we can find it???
It's in your head...any length you want :)
