This monitor is an interesting piece of tech, but does it have any fans that can be loud in a quiet room? I had to send back that famous Alienware ultrawide OLED, because of that loud fan noise.

It's more like 27" 1080p than 27" 1440p, it's horrible when you compare around 85 ppi to 110 ppi. The image 85 ppi is noticeably blurrier and sometimes individual pixels are visible.
Yes, it's immersive. I own 1000R myself and it's very good and I can imagine that 800R is even more immersive than 1000R but 85 ppi, no. I'd prefer 110 ppi for games and work.

It's not fine to play using 1080p when compared to 1440p. If we compare 1440p (110ppi) to 4K, it would be fine, but comparing 1080p to 1440p, it isn't. 110ppi is on another level.

I am tossing and turning over the low ppi this screen offers, it’s in my opinion the only downfall.. I can’t imagine spending 1700 on a monitor for it to look pixelated. Im very curious about the Samsung OLED 49, but it of course was changed to a 1800 curve instead of the 1000 which I believe was a mistake.
It seems like there’s always a perfect monitor with one shortcoming and it’s so frustrating.

    • @phoenixamaranth

Agree. I've been needing to upgrade for a wfh setup and want picture by picture so looking at all the monitors in this class for the past couple weeks and for the amount of money, none of them seem perfect. Each is lacking in some area that is hard to justify when spending nearly twice what it'd cost to have multiple smaller monitors. Definitely feel the same frustration you do.

i am on a 32" 4k@160hz ips monitor and as much as i want to have an oled gaming monitor i am afraid of going back in resolution.
before i had this 32" i had a 27" 4k ips gaming monitor that replaced a 27" 1440p gaming monitor, and already back then the 27" 1440p ips monitor started to look blurry to me compared to the 4k oled TV i had at that time.
So now being used to 32" 4k i am really afraid to think that 1440p is just not good enough (anymore).
however, 32" 4k oled gaming monitors will probably still take 1-2 years to arrive.

I did this with my aw3423dw and it burned in the 16:9 aspect ratio due to the pixels on the sides not being used. No amount of anti burn measure will help here due to it being in 16:9. I have full control of the lighting in my room and I've used 4K monitors since 2016. I'm not going to compromise to get anything less. My current monitor is Samsung Odyssey Neo G8. I guess this is perfect display for me. I am just hoping this will not feel sluggish since it does have more pixels than regular 1440p. Anyway thats my opinion.

84 Pixel density is VERY low for 3440*1440/45". Its actually as low as a 27" 1080p screen, which is pretty poor for 2023.
In comparison an 1440p 27" is around 110ppi.
This means, that you have to put this EVEN FURTHER from your eyes than an LG CX48(92ppi). And that also has to sit waaay to far for desk-use.
Curve is not a problem on an ultrawide, but PPI is. It will feel like a serious downgrade from an 1440p monitor, let alone 4k.

    • @1GTX1
      @1GTX1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I doubt that it is as bad as 27 inch 1080p, just because it has same ppi doesn't mean that it has same image quality. CX48 looks sharper than a 24 inch 1080p display, even though it has same PPI.

Pro tip. Run DSR through nvidia control panel @ 5120x2160 on this ultrawide during gaming and it becomes a 4k ultrawide. It's night and day especially with this ppi. You would barely notice the difference compared to a native 4k TV when gaming.

For gaming is fantastic, although mainly I have been using it for FPS games and have to say it has caused some motion sickness and I am sitting at least 80 CM away from the screen (update: got used to it after one week, motion sickness is gone). For story based games there is no question about it is one of the best I have tried due to the screen size, the next one runner up will be the Alienware 34inch OLED.
The part where I am struggling and don't know if really returning it, is the pixel density, it is really noticeable for text reading :/

Based on the fast-paced action and the game dominating my field of vision, I felt a certain way. This reminded me of my initial reactions to rapid VR games. However, just as I adapted to VR, I got accustomed to this monitor while playing Warzone. Everyone's experience may vary, but if you're hesitant to try it due to this, I'd recommend giving it a shot. It's an excellent gaming monitor. Cheers!@@ThePresentation010

    GREAT REVIEW!
Can I please ask one important question for you:
In low light (or NO light) room conditions, are the blacks as deep as they are on your LG C2 TV? Would it be possible for you to check that?
A HUGE issue for many people is the matte coating, which obviously degrades blacks and colours when it's in well-lit/direct light situations. But could you check whether it's an issue in dark (or no light) conditions because that might be a deal-breaker for people. The Asus's coating for instance, although matte, reportedly looks as good as glossy in a room with the lights off (or at least very low and not facing the screen).
    THANK YOU!

@@MinimalisTech Thank you for the quick reply!
I don't have instagram but if you could have a look and just give me your opinion (I trust your eyes, lol!) that would be great. I'm not really that obsessed with refresh rate so for me (and I presume many others) THE number one attraction from these monitors are the 'perfect' blacks and infinite contrast that oled can deliver. That's why everyone's freaking out about the screen coating despite almost all other gaming monitors having it.
Thanks again, and great channel 👊

This may be a rookie question, but I'm newer to this specific monitor after switching from a 4K TV. Also upgraded from the Xbox series s to the X also. What's your and even others that see this current xbox tv & display options settings as well as monitor settings? I've navigated monitor side fairly well but keep trying to compare 1440p vs. 4K UHD (though I know 4K vastly differs, etc). Use the ultra high-speed hdmi that came with xbox but wanting to dial everything in better for quality and also overall speed/lag minimizing. Any is appreciated.
