Doc can you talk about brain cancer in dogs? My best friends dog was otherwise a healthy labradoodle but then one day he started getting cluster seizures, he was already 11 years. He was on seizure meds then we suspected tumour, but then it was too late because she started loosing her one side eye sight. My friend was broken. We advised MRI but my friend was not ready to put him through GI during procedure. So we cancelled and kept him on seizure meds. He lived for two months and then finally euthanised when the seizures became worst.
As an oncologist, please make a video on brain cancers, screening tests etc...
It ll be really good if you cover this topic🙏🏾

Crying with you about our once in a lifetime labs, so much life and growing up with them. Watching you now bc my 2nd baby has CHF that we've been medicating somewhat successfully but now isn't eating. Just picked up Cerenia and keeping in mind it could be time to make decisions

I'm assuming these episodes are for dogs on chemo or that had surgery to remove tumors. My dog is in palliative care and my vet keeps thinking his food refusal, while he smacks his lips and walks back and forth conflicted, is probably more about a tumor pressing against his stomach or another organ, and it seems to be reason for her to feel like it's pointless to. change anti-nausea meds. She seems to be giving me appetite stimulants to make me happy and because there is nothing to lose.
And she isn't the vet who actually examined my dog. She is my regular vet. A specialist IM vet did the scans and made the diagnosis. A tumor in the liver and one in the lungs.

Just a quick note about Elura, as a pet owner: Your cat will NOT like the taste of this medicine but don't give up because it DOES work! Also, once you've given your cat this medicine via oral syringe, they will drool a whole bunch but it's completely normal and nothing to be concerned about. I wish I had known that small piece of advice before administering Elura, or any liquid oral medication, to my cat. Good luck and I hope your fur baby starts to feel better!!

great video. thanks for the info! If youre using the liquid appetite stimulant and after 1 or 2 doses the pet starts to eat, do you discontinue the medication or just finish it out? To ask it another way...Once the pets appetite has been stimulated and they are starting to eat again, is the stimulant still necessary to keep the appetite up OR would the body likely/hopefully take over at that point? Just trying to better understand how these stimulants work. Thanks!

Awesome info, thanks! My Beagle is still eating, but oddly some of her favorite things she has always loved, she is turning away from now. If she stops eating altogether I will be asking my vet about the med's you described.

Congestive heart failure almost always causes poor appetite. And the meds for CHF can decrease the appetite.

I'm having a terrible time pilling my dog with Cerenia. I done bait and switch and he always seems to figure out which goody has the pill in it. Cut the smaller and he still figures it out. Wanted to avoid the pill down the throat, but may have to. Any ideas welcome. I thought of trying ti liquefy the Cerenia and give it orally with a syringe.
