"Song and Dance Man"! Wow, I was listening while driving one night, had to replay it multiple times, I got chills listening to the lyrics the way that song flows, never really paid attention to it before. Life is poetry in motion

Big Talk is another great one. Such a fun song & video. Tell me Guru...When ya gonna score that interview with Maddi Lane ?? Thanks for the watch & take care friend !!
Awesome, man, I'm so glad you like this stuff. I'm actually in the middle of recording the Poison episode for this series tonight, so should be out in a few days! Appreciate your support, Brother!
My # 1 is, has been, and will always be Uncle Tom's Cabin! That intro, holy shit!!! Who the hell else has ever had banjo in a metal song?? Thats the most awsome shit i've ever heard!!
Loved this episode. Anytime Jani can get credit I’m always in. A lot of great picks from you both. I met Jani 3 different times here in Ohio where he grew up and he was super cool every time. I miss that guy and again I enjoyed this episode and hopefully you guys do this with other bands too👍🏼
I listened to DRFSR on a walk about a year ago. I had not listened to it in years. I was surprised how 'classic rock' it sounded. It had a lot more 70s even feel than I recognised at the time when it was just lumped with hair metal.
About Sometimes She Cries, that guitar intro is one of the most iconic guitar intro ever made in rock. For those who claims Erik Turner and Joey Allen aren't good players, pick up the guitar and try to play that intro properly.
There is something about Sad Theresa . It was an old song , left off Dirty Rotten , subsequently didn’t make Cherry . It’s like they were saying goodbye , or the scene was saying goodbye .
I never gave dog eat dog a shot in my younger years at all. I’m so glad that I gave it a chance. This album is damn good it’s crazy!!! I love discovering new old stuff!!! Long live Jani Lane!!!
My very first concert was Warrant with Lynch Mob and Tora Tora opening. It was fucking amazing! It was in 1992, Warrant was touring for Dog Eat Dog and Tora Tora was promoting Wild America. Still two of my all time favorite albums 3 decades later. R.I.P. Jani.
Greetings from Australia: My brother and I do a compilation every few months of our favourite songs from bands of that era. Funnily enough, we chose 12 for warrant as well and it was one of the hardest things I've done. My top 12 are (from 1 to 12): Uncle Tom's Cabin I Saw Red April 2031 All My Bridges Are Burning Down Boys Mr Rainmaker Let It Rain Big Talk Heaven Sad Theresa Sometimes She Cries Cherry Pie Sooo many missed out , but warrant are an all time top 5 band for me. Loved watching the video. I sent my brother the link.
Hey, man, thanks for sharing your list and for sharing the video with your bro, I really appreciate it. Still blows me away that people from Down Under watch this shit, thank you!
Thanks for getting me back into Warrant guru. I doubted you at first but after seeing your videos defending this band over and over I made a complete turnaround on them!! Thanks!!

Thanks for this. I love that you are so dedicated to Jani and that his lyrics mean so much to you. That’s why I tune in. I realize that you focus primarily on the hair metal era which is great, but I’d love to someday hear your thoughts on the unreleased lyrics of Jabberwocky. To me, the stories they tell are second to none. I know you’ve listened to them. Maybe a Jani Lane tribute to him on his birthday or something?
Hey, thank you so much for the great message and for watching. As far as Jabberwocky, that's a great idea and I'll add it to the list. Thanks again, I really appreciate it.
I saw Warrant live in November of 1992 and July 1998. I actually went just to see the opening acts but I'm glad I saw Jani Lane fronting the band before passing away.
G’Day from Australia, Great lists guys. My number 1 is Uncle Toms cabin, but they have so many awesome songs. Jani was such an underrated singer, songwriter and story teller. April 2031 paints a very bleak picture of the future. Only 7 years to go to see if he was right, and the way things are going in the world he very well could be.
Yeah, he was so ahead of his time, completely agree. Australia, huh? Still blows me away that people from Down Under watch this shit. I appreciate it, Brother.
Not sure about the order, but off the top of my head these are the 12 I think of as my favorites. 1. Ride #2 2. Ultraphobic 3. April 2031 4. Uncle Tom's Cabin 5. All My Bridges Are Burning 6. Angry Young Man 7. Solid 8. Love In Stereo 9. Let It Rain 10. Mr. Rainmaker 11. Thin Disguise 12. Stronger Now
My top 12 (and this wasn’t easy) in no particular order: 1. Down Boys 2. Thin Disguise 3. All My Bridges Are Burning 4. Quicksand 5. Song and Dance Man 6. Mr Rainmaker 7. In the Sticks 8. Bitter Pill 9. Hollywood (So Far, So Good) 10. Bonfire 11. Love In Stereo 12. Inside Out
This was way harder than I thought it would be. I'm sure my list will be different tomorrow, but for now: 12. Life's A Song 11. Face 10. So Damn Pretty 9. Undertow 8. I Saw Red 7. Uncle Tom's Cabin 6. All My Bridges Are Burning 5. Song And Dance Man 4. High 3. Inside Out 2. Bitter Pill 1. Chameleon
@HairBandBasement I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks so. Even though Warrant is/was Jani's band, there's definitely some great stuff with Robert.
Great list and, wow, Chameleon at #1! I salute that pick. And Life's a Song is great--that Rockaholic album has some solid moments, and I LOVE the inclusion of Face--unbelievable chorus on that one. Thanks for watching, Brother.
@HairMetalGuru419 Rockaholic is one of my "holy grail" albums as I've been trying to find it on CD for years now. Unfortunately, I missed it upon it's release. And Face is proof that Jani STILL had it!!!
Love Warrant so much! Jani was such a great singer/songwriter. I used to deliver newspapers and 32 Pennies was the start to my route. This cassette was always in play! - Danger
The intro of “Down Boys” is inspired by The Cars “Bye Bye Love”. The Cars also had a song titled “Down Boys” on their “Panorama” album from 1980. Jani Lane admitted that he was a huge fan of The Cars.
warrant was a very special band. got in during dog eat dog in 1993, went backwards, then got ultraphobic and belly to belly on release day. belly to belly deserves love because it does have a lot of great writing on it. letter to a friend is beautiful, and its surprising it never gets love from the fans.
Awesome episode with Guru 1 & 2😅....I got 14 songs cos no.12 is a 3 way tie...so my Countdown is Quicksand,Chameleon,Sometimes She Cries all No.12 and then it goes...The Bitter Pill,Sad Theresa,I Saw Red,Bed Of Roses,Hollywood So Far So Good,So Damn Pretty,Heaven,Uncle Tom's Cabin,Bonfire,Mr Rainmaker and No.1 Thin Disguise....was pumped that u guys both showed some love to my favorite Warrant song! Really enjoyed the episode on a truly amazing band...look forward to the next episode...u guys should do a Lillian Axe Top 12 or 15 whatever and Guru I know Ryan and Bryan would both be on board for that one...Take care and Rock On🤘🤘🤘🤘
We definitely need to do a Lillian episode of this series--Ryan and I actually recorded Poison tonight, and are talking of doing Britny Fox in the near future. Bryan would be up for LIllian I'm sure. Hey, Jay, thanks for all your support, Brother.
Bands would put extra songs on EU/Asia releases because at the time, it was cheaper to import from the US. So record companies would add tracks to foreign releases to that they would buy from EU/Asian stores and not import from the US.

01. I Saw Red 02. Uncle Tom's Cabin 03. Bed Of Roses 04. Ridin' High 05. Sad Theresa 06. Sometimes She Cries 07. Down Boys 08. Let It Rain 09. Sure Feels Good to Me 10. Mr. Rainmaker 11. Big Talk 12. Blind Faith
Got a lot of nerve to call me cheap, even though it's true... one of my favorite lines from any song from that era. Also, the fact that the sheriff in Uncle Tom's Cabin is named Tom Brady years before Tom Brady was drafted into the NFL always makes me laugh when I hear that song.
@@HairMetalGuru419 Actually, i looked up the lyrics to see if it was Tom Brady, just because it doesn’t make sense to give two characters in a song the sane name… it’s John Brady, not Tom. lol. But I’m going to always hear Tom Brady, just for nostalgia’s sake.
Wasn’t Thin Disguise added on albums that wouldn’t carry the Ode to Tipper Gore song because of the profanity? Not sure. Love this episode!! Also check out Belly to Belly. AYM, Letter 2A Friend, Indian Giver, Solid and Vertigo killer songs
Hey, Pat, Thin Disguise was only the Bside of Cherry Pie and then later appeared on the Warrant Greatest Hits, but the versions without Tipper Gore just had one less song. And, you're right, B2B has some great stuff, and I love the songs you listed. Check out "Face" if you've never heard that from the Under the Influence album.
I love their first four albums! Especially Dog Eat Dog. I finally got my chance to see Warrant in 1999, and the night before the show I saw them at the popular strip club in my city. The strip club was close to my house, so I went home and grabbed their recent live album for them to sign it. I still have the CD, and they were extremely cool to me, especially Jani Lane and Eric Turner. In my opinion the only albums I consider to be Warrant albums are the ones Jani Lane is on. The last few albums are not Warrant to me, and I will never see the current lineup live either. My top 12 at this moment would have to be. 12. Quicksand 11. 32 Pennies 10. All My Bridges Are Burning 9. Down Boys 8. D.R.F.S.R. 7. Machine Gun 6. April 2031 5. Family Picnic 4. Big Talk 3. Bitter Pill 2. I saw Red 1. Uncle Tom's Cabin
I hear you, Brother. The later albums have some decent moments, especially on Rockaholic, but nothing close to what they did when Jani was in the band. Awesome you got your CD signed!
My top 12 Warrant songs 12. Machine gun 11. Thin disguise 10. Bed of roses 9. Big talk 8. Cherry pie 7. Sometimes she cries 6. Mr. Rainmaker 5. We will rock you 4. I saw red 3. Down boys 2. Heaven 1. Uncle Tom's cabin
Having bonus tracks in Japanese pressed cds are to entice the locals to buy their own domestically produced cds as imports are cheaper. Big fan of Ultraphobic!
The Japanese get bonus tracks to make sure that that the customers in Japan do not purchase the import versions (the U.S., the European versions) due to the Japanese versions costing more.
My number one with a bullet is I Saw Red. I prefer the acoustic version and don’t even like the full band version much lol but that is one of my fav songs period let alone just warrant. Heaven is my second. Honestly, outside of a couple songs, Warrant was one of the bands that I only like the ballads for.
@@HairMetalGuru419 it’s such a great song. I have one of those 90’s compilations cds that has I saw red and heaven with just him singing with an acoustic guitar and it really lets you hear how great of songs those two ballads were. It makes me kinda sad radio doesn’t play them.
My Top 12: In the Sticks Mr. Rainmaker AYM Face Let it Rain Devil's Juice All my bridges are burning Uncle Tom's Cabin Stronger Now Bitter Pill 32 Pennies Bonfire
Didn't want this episode to end 👌 but why the F did Jani have to pass before he finally was recognised for being probably the best singer songwriter of the whole genre ? So sad 😞
I feel like Warrant's music aged the best of all the hair metal bands in overall quality. DRFSR was a really good album. Cherry Pie would be 10/10 except for the title track which is straight trash. Dog Eat Dog is also great. My top songs: 1. Thin Disguise 2. Mr. Rainmaker 3. Uncle Tom's Cabin 4. Quicksand 5. Heaven (yeah it's cheesy, but I'm a sappy romantic) After that it gets a bit muddy but they have so many good songs in their catalog.

@@HairMetalGuru419 you're kinda an asshole. It's a bummer because your page's content is great, but no one wants to hear about a 50 year-old's love story gone wrong from four decades ago. Also, your whole "they call me the guru" thing is weird. Pretty sure you're the only one who calls you that.
@@jeffspicoli763 You called me pathetic and I'm the asshole? As far as talking about love story from 30 years ago, ummm, when you're talking about music from 30 years ago, you tend to relate it to your life and things that were happening when you're getting into that music. That's why I brought up the girl from 30 years ago--that's what was going on when I was listening to I Saw Red. If that bothers you and you find it pathetic, well, what can I say, that's what was happening. Mr. Rainmaker is a complete banger!!! What a song! I loved all the acoustic versions of ISR and Blind Faith, Jani was magical. - Danger
Those acoustic versions of I Saw Red and Bitter Pill were amazing--not everyone could pull that shit off.

11. 32 Pennies
10. All My Bridges Are Burning
9. Down Boys
8. D.R.F.S.R.
7. Machine Gun
6. April 2031
5. Family Picnic
4. Big Talk
3. Bitter Pill
2. I saw Red
1. Uncle Tom's Cabin
I hear you, Brother. The later albums have some decent moments, especially on Rockaholic, but nothing close to what they did when Jani was in the band. Awesome you got your CD signed!
This is James again Anthony on the Rock Candy version of the Cherry Pie album Thin Disquise is a bonus track on the Rock Candy version
That's right! Forgot about that.
My top 12 Warrant songs
12. Machine gun
11. Thin disguise
10. Bed of roses
9. Big talk
8. Cherry pie
7. Sometimes she cries
6. Mr. Rainmaker
5. We will rock you
4. I saw red
3. Down boys
2. Heaven
1. Uncle Tom's cabin
Great list, Brother.
@@HairMetalGuru419 Thanks man, greetings !!
Having bonus tracks in Japanese pressed cds are to entice the locals to buy their own domestically produced cds as imports are cheaper. Big fan of Ultraphobic!
Yes, thanks for setting me straight!
Bitter pill is a great song
The Japanese get bonus tracks to make sure that that the customers in Japan do not purchase the import versions (the U.S., the European versions) due to the Japanese versions costing more.
Thanks for filling me in, Brother!
I Saw Red was when Warrant became 'my band.' Thanks for watching, man.
@@HairMetalGuru419 it’s such a great song. I have one of those 90’s compilations cds that has I saw red and heaven with just him singing with an acoustic guitar and it really lets you hear how great of songs those two ballads were. It makes me kinda sad radio doesn’t play them.
“Missy don’t thinks she’s pretty no more”…. I originally thought he was saying “Melissa” but I guess I was wrong as well 😂
Shit, I honestly thought he named her Mercy, "Mercy don't think," but you're probably right. haha
My Top 12:
In the Sticks
Mr. Rainmaker
AYM
Face
Let it Rain
Devil's Juice
All my bridges are burning
Uncle Tom's Cabin
Stronger Now
Bitter Pill
32 Pennies
Bonfire
Cherry Pie has to make it. I do not care how over played it is. It’s a classic.
I hear what you're saying. I do. I just couldn't do it.
I’d add
Hollywood
Undertow
Big talk
Bourbon county line
Train train
Love in stereo
In the end
I never really got into the Born Again album with St. James--I probably need to give it another chance.
My top songs:
1. Thin Disguise
2. Mr. Rainmaker
3. Uncle Tom's Cabin
4. Quicksand
5. Heaven (yeah it's cheesy, but I'm a sappy romantic)
After that it gets a bit muddy but they have so many good songs in their catalog.
Have you heard Animal Drive’s cover of “Uncle Tom’s Cabin?”
Shit, I haven't, but I'm going to check it out now, thanks for letting me know.
My number 1 is bitter pill
Amazing song
So Damn Pretty should be against the law
Amen, Brother.
Hip hop and rap gets a pass but warrant was sexist BS
Right!? Such a double standard.
Warrant rules, but you GOT TO stop talking about some girl from 1990. It comes across as fairly pathetic.
@@jeffspicoli763 You’ve been on TH-cam for 10 years and have 1 subscriber, so if I want advice on how to drop out of school or clean my bong I’ll come to you, but when it comes to TH-cam I’ll probably look somewhere else, Cupcake.
I appreciate you liking the content, I really do, but if you want to call me pathetic and then you get upset when it kind of pisses me off? You want me to be happy about it?
