Why FFXIV Dragoon is getting destroyed despite being PERFECT

    Dragoon chads, the time of oblivion is upon us. Our time in FFXIV has been mostly peaceful. Dragoon got little changes in Endwalker, but it seems that we'll be getting major changes during 7.0 and that makes me very scared.

    The only thing I hope for the remake is just Dragoon ONLY gets softcore streamlined without losing most of what makes it fun.

      Honestly I think the class is great right now, just wish i could queue geirskogul when im in LoD because the 0.3s drift annoys me
      I dunno how I feel about the rework, haven't played pre or post rework SMN but I've heard it went from BLM hard to WAR easy, hope DRG stays similar in difficulty

    Delete dragon sight and buff personal to compensate and then the job will be perfect.

    DRG was always my absolute favorite Job to play for a myriad of reasons. Through each FF that offered it. The actual lore/class fantasy with the job, and just, being a jumpy-boi. Even if it wasn't ever Meta. DRK and WAR were my other two favs.

    I mean. For most of the game drg got screwd. I think it was until mid stormblood that it finally got good.

    According to Encyclopedia Eorzea, G'raha is 24, as of the ARR Crystal Tower raid, so fans are in the clear. Am curious about 7.0 Astro cause I wasn't cool with the cards being simplified myself.

      @@enyaliosares4301 honestly, it does make me nervous that they'd change anything when DRG is at one of the most stable places in recent memory--however, I have to think it must have something to do with lore.
      At the end of 6.0, I was pretty convinced 7.0 would take players to, either the Void, or Meracydia; right now, it's looking like it could be one or both.
      Meracydia is the home of the dragons. So I can't help but wonder how the DRG will change if Estinien and the WoL travel to the cradle of dragonkind.
      Honestly, I'm nervous, but more excited.

    Remember when AST could be both a shield healer and a pure healer?
    It was a very powerful and popular combo. But people complained of many buttons and now is just a pure healer.
    Same with the cone of WAR. now is a circle due to people complaining of the cone. Meanwhile those who learned to use the cone and found it superior to the circle were screwed.
    Square is optimizing away the fun of the game.
    IMO, you could give depth to the jobs and still lower the number of buttons. For example. Why not make the boring 1,2,3 combo into a 1 button rotation combo? That would mean more buttons for more interesting things.
    DRG is likely to be babyfied as the rest of jobs. And tanks are getting too similar to each other. Only exception maybe GNB that feels incredibly clunky. Its supossed to be fast attacks. But with the time between each action makes them do a weird stop instead of a follow up.

    I don't know why ppl say try is hard on ps4 that makes no since all you have to do is set one hot bar side to some and one hot bar for single target like for me triangle is my single rotation. And o is my ape rotation. And back tap hot bar is for job role actions like second wind and also buff soils that would be used between both ape and sing rotations like Dragon site and you can put your whole rotation in a strait line and like never change it it's actually very fluid on a controller just have to organize your bars and then the only thing that will mess you up us drg tunnel vision also all my main combo actions I keep to the right side of the bar just so I can be moor moble

    If the dragoon changes don’t at least make something like spine shatter dive something into the pvp LB version where you can control it, it’s going to be a massive L of a rework

    I started to level Dragoon before Dawntrail and I can see why the devs want to rework the class. It's really basic and doesn't feel like it's got a unique character or defining characteristics. It's got a lot of 'Jump' abilities but none of them feel particularly interesting or engaging and the setup feels like it takes forever before you can actually start dealing damage. At this stage you could rename the job to anything else and it will feel the same. What it needs is a completely new mechanic that will distinguish it apart from the rest of the melee jobs. For Summoner it was as simple as actually making the job visibly summon Primals and then affect how the skills shift. It's not the most innovative approach but it makes the job feel different and more complete.

    I hopeful for the dragoon changes if they get rid of a few actions it will be great and won’t feel like a pain to play on controller 😂

      it's fine on a controller i played it since the bigging of endwalker it's the same as shb they just deleted 1 button and added another ogcd nothing new

      It has a 7 button combo if tht in its self isn’t button bloat idk what to tell you 😂. Then get rid of life surge and you have the perfect class.

      I have no issues playing Dragoon on controller whatsoever. The only problem comes from occasionally needing to use certain skills like Talon situationally.

    Dragoon plays like ass. The main culprit is too many ogcds to flow nicely. You could bake the 10% damage buff of Lance charge into the damage of the abilities, and the class would function the same. Left eye could function like Kardia, and you just activate it again to apply the effects whenever its time, removing the "need" for a macro. High Jump could simply apply the effect of Mirage Dive. Life surge could proc off of something instead of being an ability.
    In my mind, Dragoon should be about fancy polearm attacks and jumping. To that end, the flow of the class should always have you smacking or jumping. No magic casting, clicking on party frames in between smacks.
    I think the design of reaper is much more elegant, and hope it becomes something more like that. For instance, I wish I could just high jump all the time. Like after every 5 buttons, high jump. And maybe in Life of the Dragon, you would high jump every 2 gcds. JUMP JUMP JUMP

      I mean. I like the oGCDs that DRG has right now. That said, turning Dragon Sight into a Dance Partner type deal where you share buffs is a hard agree - it's ass to use even with a macro. They tried the High Jump thing, making it turn into Mirage Dive after it hit but people like to spam their buttons and they ended up accidentally weaving it in, so it got changed back.

      The animation of Mirage dive is cool, but I don't think it enhances the dragoon feel.

    Drg is terrible for console players. Pc players think because they put lots of usefull mods, the job is good but it isnt.
    Ot need a complete rework asap, should remove at least one positional and some buttons as well
