I just bought my place, which was updated by a thirty something year old guy. It has five TVs and three sound bars in 2000 sq ft, I kid you not. There are those color changing LED light strips on the back of the TVs. There is surround sound ceiling speakers in every room, on every porch, and in the garage. They each have their own Sonos, so different music can play in each zone. Here comes the punch line: I am a 73 year old who does not watch TV and rarely plays ambient music.
The space behind the bed that could be closet space that he’s getting rid off for a giant bed whilst his clothes are hanging on a cheap rail in the room 🤦♀️
The first thing that came to my mind when I saw the koi pond at the door was your keys falling through the stone steps down into the water and you need to take a dive or break in into your own house.
I believe a local magazine did a photo shoot of the house before it was old to him. He’s in the island because now it’s a tax heaven for gringos. He probably bought a few pieces of furniture just so he could make a video of it because the mural that it’s in the guest room was already there. Too bad that such a beautiful house is being wasted with such bad taste.
These large homes definitely need a designer the owner could work with to bring out it's potential. This is not the same as a 3 bedroom home in the suburbs. So much space needs a restrained and knowledgeable hand, not just, as you said, bookshelves and chairs from Ikea placed haphazardly in the space.
Like you said, the bones of the property and the landscaping are good but everything else, from the home decor to the cladding is absolutely terrible. The acoustics, the fact that it looks like it's populated by teenagers with no adulting skills whatsoever. How old is the owner?
Not to defend him but almost all the newly built modern houses I seen in Puerto Rico that are supposed to be high end are similar to this on the interior and there's not much to choose from. He definitely needs to hire an interior designer to clear up the mess.
I’d be curious to see if any of his updates make it any better. The house seemed too big for the number of people there and it was definitely designed and styled by a man. It looked like a boring, lifeless man cave all throughout. I do love the outdoor area though lol. I’d love to have the indoor outdoor feel in my bedroom and walk out to something that nice. I would say though I think he could have gotten a better house for his money. I think he could have even found an equivalent house for 2mil instead of 16.

Looking how he is dressed explains the interior design :-D Seeing this, I appreaciate my humble home much more - it may be small, but at least it´s cute and I enjoy being in it 🙂
The house's deign is not very interesting, but the landscaping makes up for it. Although it could be improved by adding some trees or a pergola with vines or something to add some shade by the pool.
Too be fair if he just .o ed in perhaps everything there was left over, the house and gardens are stunning but It's totally obvious that unless he gets a pro Interior designer in ........Chaos is looming but after spending 16 million I am sure he will do, who knows maybe he will call you to fix up his home!!!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
