Poor Bert, such a hard working daddy keeping the eggs warm. It would have been awesome to have had one hatch, to see how he would have took care of the baby. Your farm is beautiful, busy ❤
This a sad for poor Bert. . . just my own thoughts, but our late fall early winter is Australia's spring and summer. I think its way too cold for him to properly set on the eggs well enough to hatch them. Can you make him a raised nesting platform in a enclosed mini shelter in the barn so that he can keep them contained and a better consistent temprature? Can you separate him and release the two babies with him if none of the others hatch?I think I recall that was your plan's.
I want the eggs to hatch soo bad underneath the emu. It’s been like a rollercoster with these Emu eggs. I’m glade the two hatched. It would be nice to see how the emu care for there young.
I'm just glad you have a second one to keep the first one company growing up. Hopefully one or two under Bert will still hatch. He deserves something for all of his effort.
I really hope that at least two to four of the remaining eggs hatch. Bert needs the victory of live baby emus hatching underneath him. How many hours do you think he has spent brooding at this point.
I’ve been enjoying your videos for awhile. Love seeing all the different colors and feathers in your poultry. Sorry about all the emus you lost. The little emus are so cute!
I was thinking about the same thing: maybe they need some warmer place for winter if they are brooding on eggs. I guess the floor is cold even if Bert rarely get up from the nest.
You’d think that would be something they’d think about. It’s all I’ve been thinking for the past few years when they try to hatch them. Eggs would do much better in an incubator.
@@noahgraham5912 Same! I mean they took a few eggs out to incubate them but I honestly doubt the Emu could breed a single one just with his body heat. The ground is frozen through.
Those mandarins peeping @ 7:55 makes my heart smile.. they are so pretty and unique! Thanks for sharing your animals via YT. Your family is growing up so fast, too! Take care amd be well ☆
I feel like to get the most out of your emus you might want to get dummy eggs for the boys to lay on next year. Then just gather all of the eggs the girls lay to incubate them inside.
@@brummelbar it only gets strong if they are kept in heaped barns where they end up eating the bedding muk included. the key to not having that over powering flavour is keeping them clean everyday and getting them outside a lot and never in the same pasture for more than a week.
These difficulties the Emu are having... do you have any inkling about why it is? Are the birds just too young still, or is it the environment where you live? (Too cold?) The former will fix it self next year or later... the later you need to find a way too fix the problem (heatlamp or heatmat that gives better insulation)
in the other video there were like 3-4 or probably more emu eggs that developed into Chicks but sadly didn't make it, leaving only two of those (in the incubator) to hatch.
Been raw feeding dogs for nearly 25 years, my top tip is to remove the food from the bag while still frozen, you leave so much in the bag if you thaw it in there 🐾🐾
Jake and Becky will be the best grandparents to have on Earth!!! ❤😅❤ I've been following you guys since bamboo hatched and I looovvveee your journey plus I love all the cowssss; dolly and her daughters 😂🎉❤
Joey is so happy that Dad gets TH-cam promotion products! The Farmer's Dog food is very good quality. I would buy it all the time, but it's over my budget. However, their recipes inspired me to cook for my dogs, real food is better for them.
Bert's doing a great job but I don't think he's able to keep the eggs warm enough. I'd suggest incubating as many eggs as you can as I think they'll have a better hatch rate ❤
It’s always nice to watch these birds grow up w/ you. You should name the emus and if you do name one “Lukas, Lucas, Luka, Luca” cuz all those mean light
next time, try placing the eggs in a bowl of warm water when they are that close to hatching, and it will be a lot easier to tell if there is movement. the egg will rock back and forth if the chick is alive.
The baby emus are just adorable. Two babies seems perfect to me. Can you imagine 19 of them running around? Lol Fingers crossed for one or two more tho.
are you afraid the other emus will be aggressive to the babies if they are with bert while bert is sitting? do you plan that once all the eggs are done to give them the babies and separate them away? think it would be amazing to see some daddy emu action and would be rewarding to bert to know there are babies for all his hard work.
Hi Jake! I wanted to suggest that why can you try to have a new breeding project on your naked necked rooster with the other hens in your farm like the silkies, ayam cemani and the Poland polish?I mean it would be really cool to see naked necked chickens in different breeds in the farm. Just want to share a suggestion 😅
The one thing about color mutations in animals that people work hard to make sure they're viable, the less natural abilities they have to breed/hatch. I see it a lot in snake videos. Ones that are genetically diverse and have no mutations will have a 98% viability rate hatching by themselves, and that would also be 98% hatch rate through all the eggs. Where as, those of color mutations will go on to be assisted hatches, because through each generation, the hatches are assisted and they lose the ability to hatch on their own.
That super baby emu is adorable! What is the plan for future emus? From the looks of it, you have the ability to handle about 3-4 more but you have so many egg. If they all hatch….
Awe love watching you guys !! Your helping me prep for my first hatching of my girls eggs. Now on to getting a incubator for them. Hoping for a few bantam chicks n Americans brawbanters. N a few other types

Hi, I'm new to this channel, and I've come across 1 of your chicken videos, and I love it ❤️ I'm raising araucana and Cream Legbars, and I have a few Speckled bantams at the moment. Can wait for the next video. Thank you.
I know that it’s spring in the US but when the eggs were laid it was winter and it gets way colder than it does here in Australia. I can’t wait until you guys are able to use the aviary that will be epic.
It might be best to get some fake eggs and let yhe boys sit on those while incubating the eggs inside, when they hatch you can sneak them under the boys so they can raise them as fathers. The floor is likely just too cold no matter how much of a good father they are
If there's too much rooster, will chicken stock from the bones work? Males are leaner and usually a lot of people like to use them for chicken broth. Maybe Asian Markets there might like it because these are free range and home grown. Just a thought.
@@whitehouseonthehillI think it was just getting too freezing because of where you are. You might need a raised floor in your emu barn and a heater/red light to keep it at like 40f+ inside.

Poor Bert. If you have a small enough Emu, you could slide one under him. He's working so hard. 🥺

It's funny seeing emus as farm animals. I'm in Australia, and emus are wild and everywhere.
I'm from germany when i went to nz 20 years ago, i thought the same about them having deer as farm animals. I've never seen that before or after!

I was wondering how they could even hatch with freezing temperatures. In Aus it’s never this cold where they breed.

Wishing them luck maybe something from the last 5

It's cool seeing Bert reposition the eggs.

Then swap a few under Bert when they are ready to hatch and let them look after them!
or they could raise the floors of the sheds, and give them heating, like most zoo's do.
I’m so happy for you for getting another type of emu!❤❤❤
I can not wait to see the aviary completed!! I was wondering.
why not get goats for milk instead of cows?
would it not have been easier/cheaper?
Maybe they do not like goat milk ? It can be a little strong. But I’d love to see goats !

2 being born is a sucess for the first successful egg hatch. Hope for more but if not then hope its a good sign next year will do better!
Its the emus first time incubating eggs so they are still learning.

Lower humidity seems to be key for the eggs.
