What a discovery of this model of a man. George Muller. A contemporary of Darby and Spergeon. I have a new model and there is no doubt about it, I would have followed him rather than Darby at the time of the brethren split between exclusive and open. My brief message today: th-cam.com/video/E_KgVEIMteU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=u-cHKCsy_dIlcuQF I have tried to investigate where Darby got the idea of the Secret Rapture. David Pawson was convinced he got it from a charismatic, visionary Margret en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_MacDonald_(visionary) Others suggest this was not so because Darby dismissed her visions as demonic and wrote about the secret rapture inference beforehand. Or was this him backpedaling? Do you have any further details? I would like to know why there was a connection between Darby and the Scottish finatical/ charismatic Church and why any brethren would allege the acquisition against Darby and his secret rapture position? The seemingly endless good works, testimony, and fruition listed in history that Muller went on and did cast no doubt that God was with him in Spirit. Darby went on to spread the dispensational skeme and rapture heresy with an American lawyer Skofield who sold his commentary all over the USA and beyond. I am stunned that so many of our contemporary theologians bought into it and maintain it to this day. Darby was divisive, competitive, argumentative and fundamentally wrong in his position. I believe he very well could have been a thorn in the side of Muller who handled him gracefully. I mean this in all love. We need to be corrected and expose error as a part of our calling. Charles Spurgeon invited Muller to speak in his church and admired his message and humble stance. However he had tough words for Darby and "Exclusive Brethren" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_MacDonald_(visionary) Charles Haddon Spurgeon, Pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle and contemporary of Darby, published criticism of Darby and Brethrenism.[20] His main criticism was that Darby and the Plymouth Brethren rejected the vicarious purpose of Christ's obedience as well as imputed righteousness. He viewed these of such importance and so central to the Gospel that it led him to publish this statement about the rest of their belief in the Sword and Trowel.[21] James Grant wrote: "With the deadly heresies entertained and taught by the (Darby) Plymouth Brethren, in relation to some of the most momentous of all the doctrines of the Gospel, and to which I have adverted at some length, I feel assured that my readers will not be surprised at any other views, however unscriptural and pernicious they may be, which the Darbyites have embraced and zealously seek to propagate"[22] So in conclusion. I think we need to get away from his strange vision (he may or may not have got from a visionary woman of special tongues) of a secret rapture, and follow George Muller with his traditional post-trib position. I mean look at his life and legacy! I would love to see the museum dedicated to him in Bristol as well as the orphanages he built by God's grace. I will also follow Muller on his many other practices including prayer and Bible study for the building up of the body and edification. I would go so far as to say that the secret rapture position is, for all purposes, a cult like doctrine and is demonic in nature. We need to be warned as I held this position for many years. It adulterates the great hope of the second coming of Christ and confuses the post-tribulation rapture event as spelled out clearly in Scripture. We look forward to learning more about George Muller and being edified and encouraged by the life he lived. Yours in love,
