    Get woken up early and have a great video to watch with my morning coffee. Nothing more relaxing on a Sunday morning. I have a State 4130 Gear and it's been a great bike, even used it on P2A and worked great in the mud with 32mm GKs, only issue was the mud LOL. Congrats to whoever gets a great cruiser.

    Tip two if you get those little plastic spray handles for the spray cans you will flow so much better and get much even paint lines I know it's just a bike but I've done flat surfaces with cans made it look professional

    My OCD can't handle the black cranks but my knees like the smaller chainring. Great paint job 👍

    Hi. Just a noob question. How long it needs to dry between coats of paint? Thanks for the great content and your approach to cycling is inspiring to me. Greetings from Portugal and all the best for you.

    Great build and paint up. Could you share the parts you added? I have a couple of these State klunkers and want to update the bb and chainring on. I tried to find your A-team build but haven't dug deep enough.

    Paint looks great, but I think the updated crank, pedals, and chainring go just as far in changing the look. Even with the original olive frame and black fork, they would give it a whole new vibe for not much money. Some black IFX cranks/chainring and some platform pedals from Amazon could really update the look for $50

      They are the standard bars on the State Klunker, but I don't see any branding on them on mine. 7" rise. I really like them.

      What the other guy said but basically you have to buy the bike to get the bars they aren’t sold separately sadly.

    “One thing I will say as a public service announcement before moving on to the subject of this paper is that if you ARE going to try that, cover your eyes and the rest of your head, too. The younger guy who is doing the initial painting just uses a respirator, but no goggles or hood. So his eyes and the rest of his head are out in the breeze, and out in the paint. Not good. The older guy who does the final coat has his eyes covered as well as his nose and mouth, but the rest of his head is still getting clearcoated with the bike (minute 13). Also not good. I can't believe these guys haven't figured that out by now. You have to fully cover all skin, and a loose hoodie won't do it either. The spray is a gas so it is going to penetrate everywhere air can reach, including into the hoodie. The hoodie will help a bit, but it isn't real protection from a gas, obviously. I have seen a similar mistake by the guy at MyMechanics, whose videos are very interesting, by the way. He is also sloppy covering up for painting. He will regret it someday “

    I really really want to love Spray(dot)Bike products because I have a whole shed full of old bikes that need TLC and some that I'd love to respray, but I can't get past the fact that it's a can-based powder coat that doesn't get baked on. Just seems like a longevity/durability problem down the road, but I'd love to be wrong.

    • @oldshovel
      @oldshovel  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I get it. It is not a long lasting paint on its own but it is super easy and consistent to use for making colorful paint jobs and needs just one core to cover well. This is why I started using a 2k clear coat over top. With 3+ coats of clear over top it I is a lot more durable.

      @@oldshovelI’m taking a 60s Schwinn Typhoon down to bare metal and do a wild paint job. Make it a beach cruiser coaster. I can baby the paint on a cruiser. Lots of rust on the fenders(chrome)...might paint to match? I’ll probably air brush too, but spray bomb for high light colors... last job I did the 2k clear lifts very easy... still I like making it “mine” 🙂👍 ...considered powder coating base?
