I really appreciate your videos. My sister bought me an indoor 12 pod hydroponic unit. I planted dill, cilantro, parsley and basil. Only very delicate dill has germinated in 5 weeks. I do have algae on the sponges. Should I dump everything and start over? Thank you.
Oh man, yeah I would start over. Try pre sprouting the cilantro in a damp paper towel for a few days before moving them into the system. The others should come up fine. Make sure your putting 3-4 seeds in each sponge to make sure you get something to germinate. Hope this helps!
I have the weirdest red mushroom looking things growing on the top of my Idoo. I’m doing my best to kill it but it won’t budge! Def going to try the spray bottle method

I'd prefer organic such as comfry or nettle tea. Has anyone had any success with nutrients such as that ? And one final enquiry. I read so many bad reviews on this product where folks complained of lots of mold. Mold is bad stuff, so just not sure i want to deal with all that. Indoor air-quality is generally worse then outdoor air quality, so to bring in an algae (when it blooms that's bad) and mold (again, bad) could be doing more harm to your health. Does the hydrogen peroxide completely removes mold from ever growing?
I like to fill a container with a liter of water and add the appropriate amount of nutrients to that 1 L of water. Then I can just top off the system as needed from the premixed water.
I'm new to this. Just got my amoring system today. they sent stickers so I assume that's the same as the tin foil you used. wish me luck! I don't have a green thumb. lol

So many bad reviews about mold - just not sure this type of product is for me. Had to have a mold petri dish growing in the house. This just seems like to much work compared to doing an outside garden.
I have an idoo shallow 12 pod. It has the long soil sponges and buckets, but a couple of my seeds are getting surrounded with what looks like tiny random white hairs. My water level stays very consistent... but I did overdose the nutrients, because I'm new and didn't read the directions right.... any ideas?
It sounds like some of the seeds are molding. Try removing those seeds, cleaning the sponges well with water then adding new seed. This is a common thing to happen it just means that, that seed wasn’t viable or mold just took over before the seed could germinate.
@EverCrest well heck. Could it be related to location on the tray at all? The only 2 with fungus on the seeds are back corners. Also, should I adjust my the top light higher? Could that be part of it?
Very good advice for beginners. There some very important things you missed though. The first thing someone should do when they are having a mildew and mold problem is to find out what is causing the problem. Which most of the time it could be 2 or 3 different issues. So you just go through the process of elimination. Most of the time when growing with aero or hydro. What causes this problem is the temperature of the water or solution. It's very very important to keep the temperature of your solution around 70 degrees. No higher then 75. I know with those little systems it just about impossible. Because the light is so close to the grow chamber. Next is light leaks. You don't want to have any light getting into your grow chamber or reservoir. Whichever you may have. Now some of her solution are risky and could cause problems. For example the foil. What can happen and usually does is. Light will reflect off the foil. Back up to your plants. And it will burn your plants. So I would try and find something else to use. Now with hydrogen peroxide. Let me stop here and try to explain somethings about growing. In soil, even in the soil in our yards. There are beneficial bacteria and fungi. These are very important for your roots and for the overall health of your plants. This has been a huge problem for people growing with aero and hydro for decades. You see these Benny's also protect your roots and grow chamber from the bad bacteria and fungi. Like mildew and mold. It was always said that these Benny's weren't that effective when growing with aero or hydro.. So most growers would add just a little bit of hydrogen peroxide into there solution. To fight the bad bacteria and fungi. The mildew and mold. The problem with this is the hydrogen peroxide kills everything. Even the Benny's. If you use just a little hydrogen peroxide it won't kill your plants. But your plants will not grow up to standards. I've been growing with aeroponics for almost 15 years. I've built all my aero systems. And they are a lot different than most of you have seen. For example, my systems have 2, 23 site grow chambers with 1 reservoir. So my solution is in the reservoir. My roots don't sit in the solution all the time. Like most of yours do. My systems are much bigger than yours. They are 2'9" x 3' x 18" tall. And I have 4 of them. There is a pump in the reservoir that is on a timer. And it turns on every 15 minutes and sprays the roots for 7 seconds. And then the solution drains back into the reservoir. Well when I first started growing with aero I was trying to decide how I was going to fight a mildew and mold problem if I ever got one. I was thinking hydrogen peroxide NO WAY. It just doesn't seem right to me. And plus I don't want my plants to suffer. So I went with the bennys. And I've never had ANY problems. And nowadays, there has been so much research in regards to these Benny's. Because there is hundreds of them. That they have pin pointed what Benny's do to all parts of your plants. So you use some during your veg. stage and different ones during your fruiting stage. Anyway please remember to keep your solution at the correct temperature. Yes try that, but you can also just take a damp rag and wipe them off sometimes.

I have tried most natural mold prevention and treatment but fuzzy white mold still grows through out the entire sponge pod do you have any tips?
I'm using aluminum foil and bottled water in my system- seedlings either don't sprout or they sprout and immediately look sick and sad. Ideas?

Just push them down, once they absorb enough water they will stay in place.
