That reef off the beach really bends the wavefronts round it, till they meet in the middle of the sandbar between the rocks and the beach. Both sets of waves are coming in at about 45 degrees, so they're more or less at right-angles when they meet. In a bigger surf, you're looking every which way as you wade out to cast. Good for flatties, bream and salmon though.
Live in Corsicana tx. Been using the world’s deadliest rig to catch catfish and bream. The stinger hook is awesome. Thinking on it I haven’t lost a hook up since using it. This is the one thing you have showed me that I will forever use.
Agree with you Roger about the reef patches just out from the beach, caught 2 snapper 50cm and 54cm from the beach! (on beach worms!!)during the last dark(another tip from you in a previous video!!) Love the videos.🐟
Fabulous spot that, Roger. Fabulous seas and weather, Fabulous video. Up my way up to 4.5 m swell tomorrow then strong winds all week. I might move south!!!
Thanks alot Roger, for that video you are the best keep up the good job, each an everytime you post i learn a lot everytime i go fishing i don't feed the fish like before i also have one or two fish.
I have a similar place with reef just offshore. It is a good place for Snapper in summer and Salmon in winter. You just got to be careful of the kelp usually surrounding such a reef because you can easily get stuck in that. Another good place for Snapper is off the rocks casting onto a sand patch. Then you should use a snapper sinker and retrieve very fast so your sinker and bait skims across the surface to avoid getting stuck on the kelp at your feet.
Great job mate, I always learn something from you. Keep up the fantastic content and educational fishing you do. I am in Victoria and not too many worms around here.. !, I love your work make and would love to meet up and have a session with you. Maybe one day my friend. All the best from Moe town, in Gippsland.😂
@@RogerOsborneFishing Hi Roger looking at buying a couple of beach rods for my wife and myself what would you recommend in far as size and weight of Rod mate will be used on open beaches up on the sunny coast in Qld any help would greatly be appreciated cheers Les 👍🎣
@@RogerOsborneFishing as a boy I was obsessed with ray fishing at a young age sleeping on jetties and got to know them a little, well a lot I think. Now days I don’t want to catch them so have reversed applied that skill. If you ever think it’s a ray don’t strike, pull your bait away. Rays sit on food and chew it .They chew it with those hard outer jaws turning it against the bottom. Chocka baits sitting of the bottom of a circle hook it’s harder for them to hook, far from impossible of course if you don’t strike. If it’s a mulloway and you pull away he will get more aggressive. I also put foam in chockas to get them off the bottom a bit to stop little fiddlers or spade rays. That’s how I would have done my big rod and don’t offer it in any way to be rude to you guru. Take care
Hi Roger. Firstly, your channel is so enjoyable and intuitive. Just a question if you feel you can answer. I'm struggling with the choice of line for my beach fishing. Mono or braid. Currently using braid but notice you seem to be using mono. Do you have a video on the choice of line? Thanx in Advance, Mike - Western Australia
Hi Mike, both are good, and I use both for different purposes. Too much info to put in this comment. I do have a video on it already and will undoubtably do more to cover the subject.
@RogerOsborneFishing Thanx Rodger. I found the vid. Very good. I'm going to run on reel on 40lb braid and mono on my new reel and rod a see how they compare for me. Thanx for the reply mate. Really appreciated. Looking for to your next vid. Pretty much binge watched your past ones now. 🤣🤣🤣
Great video Roger. Just wondering, when you cast out and are walking back to the beach, are you holding the line tight or just allowing the line to spool out through your hands?
Could you explain the number rating of reels - 1000, 2000, 5000 etc. Also I have noticed some rods with 4 or 5 runners and others with 10. Whats the difference and is more better?

Appreciative of the little circle to show us where your cast lands
I agree!
Same
You are welcome Mick
Lol I always try to see where rogers casts land or where his float is ands it’s damn hard! @RogerOsborneFishing
It'd be good if youtube had a function where you could turn the voice off and still have the sound of the waves.

Hi Roger, my wife and I are a huge fan and love your videos. Unfortunately every time we go beach fishing we never catch anything lol.
Hey Rog. I reckon you should introduce the stingrays to the knife and use them as worming bait!
Roger can you tell us when and how you clean / blead/ fillet various fish ?
Just got into beach fishing, manage to land a small shark and one of them pesky sting rays but having a blast! Thank you for the tips.
Nice work!
Ever try a float just above the top bait just big enough to hold the bait up and move it with the swell? I have had some success with it.
Thanks Gene

Yes it would Howie!

I let it spool out through my hands.
I'm 5 minutes in and curious to know do you catch beach worms all year round.
Yes all year round Ray
Thanks mate 👍

Lol maybe not😂
That is the stokins he use to catch worms
Wow... 😵🤯.
The best thing i have learned from Roger is about how to use what you have the best way you can!
Yes, I improvised 👌
