I must say, I haven't done much with bread in my halogen oven but I've had lots of success with cake, generally. A great tip to use the high rack to hold baking paper down, in order to prevent browning. Thanks for sharing. :-)

I have no extension ring.I have found that by preheating the oven for 10 minutes the bottom of cakes browns better, but I do tend to flip the bread over as well to brown on both sides.

I flip the bread also , Half way , but good tip using high-rack to stop burning.

thought just came to me. You're using the low rack to place your bread for baking. Try using the high extension, that will allow more hot air to circulate below the bread and probably cook the bread more evenly.

If you use the high rack the top will brown too much. The manufacturer recommends top rack for broiling. bottom rack for baking.

That bread looks soooo scrumptious & yummy

I just put an enamel plate on the high rack above to prevent over-browning.

I love my Halogen oven It’s much better than an air fryer I found your advice very informative May I ask …if the bread is browning too much could it be turned over ?

Pour boiling water in the bottom of the halogen, put the bread on the high rack , use the extension ring and cook on a lower temperature around 200 deg c the top will go crusty without burning. Check after 30 minutes may take longer.

the bottom of the bread looks uncooked! it is just me?

It is cooked. It just didn't brown. There is no lower element in a halogen oven. You can flip it over and brown off the bottom if you like or don't use parchment. Either way it's yummy!

I don't have a regular oven because I live overseas but I did buy one of these little halogen ovens and am loving it. I never thought about trying to make bread in it but maybe I will try. What happens if you bake without one of those extension rings? My oven did not have an extension ring. People in this country use them to bake whole chickens.

The top might burn but you could tuck aluminum foil across the top and anchor it under it to help once it Browns a little. The ring helps. This was my first bread and now what I do is turn it over when the top is done and brown the bottom. Good luck!

Many thanks. I thought your loaf looked very nice and tasty. When you cut into it the bread had a very nice crumb texture. You have inspired me. I think I will try first with banana bread since we get great bananas where I live and mine always go brown before I can finish the lot of them.

Why did you hide the bottom? To test if bread is done .... tap the bottom. I am not convinced.

It looks like the paper was touching the sides? If so the air would not have circulated to the underside too well.

Your bread looks very underbaked. Not edible.
A bread is baked when the internal temperature reaches between 87C - 99C. Use a probe thermometer.
Rolls and Sandwich Breads are fully baked when the internal Temp reaches 85 - 88 deg C
    For a harder Crust allow from 93 - 96 deg C
For a French or Italian style loaf 99C.

Just tuck tin foil over the top and continue cooking.

    - On seeing your video, I immediately place an order for 1 unit 14000 watt halogen cooker..... -
May I know if, can I make garlic bread by slashing 2 cuts on the leaven dough & add chopped garlic with butter into the cuts before baking...???
    - Anyone can enlighten me..??

    • @davebox588
      @davebox588 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Answering way too late, but here goes.
Bake the bread first. Then part slice and insert garlic butter. Next wrap it in foil, before back in the oven again for 15 or so minutes at low heat setting (125 deg C or thereabouts) to melt the butter into the bread.
I haven't had huge success at making a proper loaf in a halogen oven because they turn out too thin for my taste, but this method works fine for turning short baguettes into garlic bread.

      210° equivalent in degrees celcius.

What did you use to weigh down the parchment paper? I just bought mine at thrifty store.

Yes the bulb goes on and off, when it heats up to just over the temperature you have set, the bulb will go off, so the temperature remains the same, as the temperature lowers, the bulb will come back on so the temperature remains on what temperature you have set your halogen oven on.

You could've just turn it over and let the other side get brown too. The bottom is too white🙄
