My girlfriend gave me one job to do while on holiday. To look after her 2 plants while she was gone. She's had these plants all through university. They've not been watered in almost 2 weeks. Hopefully the submersion does the trick and i don't have to bury them in an unmarked grave
That was really informative & helpful in under 5 minutes! Love it! Thank You So Much Dr. Merle for saving our plants with your useful tutorial! Stay Safe & Stay Humble! 🕯🌷🕊🌍♥️
I recently bought this kind of pot and it's drainage holes are covered by the plastic fixing. Nice idea for the pot but the execution is bad. The water won't come out properly. I'll have to make some proper drainage for that one.
Not sure about plants but if we're talking my heart all it took was seeing your beautifu face and basking in the warm energy behind it... Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, God Bless! ☺️
Whoa!! Our new house has well water and I thought my plants would do great with it but they all thrive briefly and then flail. It’s our water softener!!!! Thank you!!!
Rg Oof :( In the future if that ever happens again, see if you can take stem cuttings from the plant. Most plants that have an issue from the roots can be saved, if you take stem cuttings and put them in plain water. Some examples of plants you can do that with: teddy bear vines, peperomia, Philodendron, tradescantia, marantas
Thank you so much for these tips, and the encouragement. I'm a lazy waterer and went into this thinking just watering now and then snd little else, would let the plants figure it out themselves. Then they started to get sick and crunchy and I was so anxious and felt so guilty about it. Thank you for reminding me not all plants make it and it's a step to being a better plant owner. Wish you well in all areas of your life.
OMG thank you so much, my mom is so thankful. In a matter of a day my moms plant came back to life no joke. Again thank you so much u made my moms day!
for getting rid of tomato bugs and other produce-related pests: take 1-2 tbsp of dish soap (preferably biodegradable!) and mix it with 2-3 cups water in a spray bottle. spray it on the leaves of the plant daily and it'll get rid of them within a week!
I finally am able to have a garden out back of my house (renting and they had an old garden out there). The soil before there had wood pieces and was FULL of termites when I started to dig. I literally got a shovel and wheel barrel and dug like a 2 feet down and took all the old soil, flowers, and the bushes away. Then bought a butt ton of new soil that didn't have wood. It did stink, but it was because it helped them grow because it had manure in it and it was moist. So I dumped all 6/7 large bags in then started to plant. I even cleaned off the bricks they had around it and dug about half a foot out from the bricks and put beautiful stones in it so it gives more room so weeds have a harder time getting in. Did I do the right thing just to plant some flowers, or did I go overboard?
Thank you for this! I killed my Boston fern, my fuschia basket AND a cactus. My husband just bought me 4 new plants last night and I’m determined to do better this time!
Ahhh I have been growing an avocado plant from seed for almost a year now. I think I've done pretty well considering I'm in England and the weather isn't the best 🇬🇧 A few weeks ago it was doing so week, it's leaves were massive and now I have to transfer it to a bigger pot! But I missed a week of water 2 weeks ago and when I checked ALL it's leaves were withered 😭 I got so upset because it's taken so long but I know the rest of the plant isn't dead so I had to cut off all it's leaves. Now it's just full of stems but I'm hoping in a month or two things will be looking up! 🌱🥑🌱🥑🌱🥑🌱🥑
I usually have a "green thumb," but I recently got a bit too fancy and may have killed a semi-aquatic plant I own called Hydrocotyle tripartita 'Japan' by dosing it with CO2 while it was growing terrestrially at 100% humidity. All the leaves died and turned to mush, and the plant and its soil smelled strongly of vinegar. Today, I harvested cuttings of the remaining bits of stem, removed all the dead matter, sanitized the teeny tiny cuttings with hydrogen peroxide, bathed them in acetyl salicylate and rooting and shooting hormones, and planted them into new, waterlogged soil at 100% humidity. I hope it works. No more supplementary CO2 for terrestrial plants!
After many years I’ve finally been able to get a bonsai to grow a little and it’s basically a stem and leafs. It was doing sooo so good and now it’s suddenly all dark and droopy so I’ll stop watering it a bit
Thanks! I will be away from my plants for a few weeks. Developed a watering system from plastic bottles to keep them alive hopefully but they will need revival when back. Helpful 👍
@@TheArypoo suspended plastic bottles with a string that goes through a hole at the bottom. The string goes in the ground at the plant roots, and the plant can absorb water through it. This was for 3 weeks in the summer, they all survived :)

I used to overwater my orchid all the time. Either that or I used to under water them. In my *very limited* experience, I've found that giving the potting media a good spritz with some water every day, or every other day, is just right. Mine is a dendrobium phaelonopsis type and it's planted in rocks. Hope this helps! Also, if you need some extra tips, check out MissOrchidGirl here on youtube.
If any type of pests attack on your plant don't worry ! Just get some neem leaves and sticks ; boil them ,cool it & spray on your plants widely your plant get refresh . Just do it when pest attack or every two - three months
just got a basil plant, not sure if im overwatering it or if its too cold or if its getting not enough sun, might be a combination of all three though.
Haha my plant is 100% waterlogged,it ticks all the boxes but my dad doesn’t believe me and waters my plant more because he thinks it isn’t getting enough water 🙃
Hey this video is really useful.... thanks. May I know to take care of aloe Vera because ever since I replanted it... it’s growth is severely affected like thinning and browning at the edges. Also is lightweight soil good for all plant? Especially for aloe? And how to make drain holes in already planted pots? Mine is plastic pots.
the best thing you can do is to take the plant out of the pot, drill or mail holes in the bottom, add a few rocks in the bottom of the pot, and repot the plant. your aloe is almost like a succulent - light soil, full sun, and bone dry between waterings or it will die. just make sure it's not touching the window or the leaves may get "sunburned"
I left for 2 day and my mango bby plant dried😞. Luckily I’m a pro at sprouting seeds now. 🙃 👑 Got 3 more ready to go & more mangos to eat. The plant she said has no drainage u can remove the bottom. I believe that cap is just there so when people want to buy it the can reach it from the bottom without getting their hands wet.
Hi Mary....do the latter two things. The plant must be repotted as waterlogged soil usually becomes anaerobic and not usable. And whenever repotting, take the time to clean the plant up and remove the dead leaves. So too much water? Repot, clean up. Plant dried up? Soak the root ball and if its not root bound, leave it. If it is root bound, let it rest for a week after hydrated and then break up the root ball and repot.

I think That hanging plant pot does have drain holes. You just have to twist that small bottom piece and it will come off..??
I think so too, it still probably would be difficult for new plant owners to know how much they are watering it though.
