Another bunch of cool, spooky books. I've had some of them. I didn't even know that Journey had been rebooted. Great stuff. As a collector, myself, I am more interested in the stories inside than the covers. That's why I am interested in reprint volumes, so I can read them.
Gil Kane is such an under-rated artist! It's kind of interesting how over the years my attitudes towards some artists have changed quite a bit. I wasn't a big fan of Gil Kane's work, but now I appreciate it so much more.
Mine would be , " Monsters Unleashed ; Dracula Lives ; Zombie Tales ; Vampire Tales ; Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction ; " and possibly others that I've forgotten about over the last 40 years ?
Frank Brunner also was an artist on " Savage Sword of Conan! " A few times. One story was called " The Scarlet Citadel ? " He was quite a prolific Cover Artist for Marvel ; DC: and maybe some Warren magazines [ Creepy, Eerie, and others 😳🤔 ? ] His rare " Alice in Wonderland " portfolio is definitely for adults only ; but his art is amazing ! He's definitely in the same kind of contemporary genre of Wrightson; Ingels; and others !
Brunner is an artist that I feel is very under-appreciated! Savage Sword had a lot of great artists and writers over the years, quite an amazing run for a black and white magazine. Thanks for watching!
New sub here! Wonderful books my friend. Thank you for sharing. I have been lately attempted to pick up key horror books for the PC. The Headless Horseman now is on my list. Look forward to checking out future content. Stay tuned!
@jerrythejitterbugcomicbook4098 Thanks for the kind words! The 70s Marvel books are fun books to look out for, and they're fairly reasonable in terms of cost.
When it comes to Atlas, do you read them or only collect them? I'm mostly into the Golden Age EC, Batman, Marvel Family, Simon & Kirby romances and Crime Does Not Pay! I'm content with beautiful compilations so I can read them, but if I stumble across a reasonably priced original, it's getting the royal treatment and will remain unread! BTW Tomb Of Dracula is excellent! I have both the original series and 3 of the Essentials volumes!
Read and collect! Generally, the only copies I can afford to buy for older Atlas books are beat up and in lower grade - that Uncanny Tales is a rare exception. I avoid books that are falling apart, so I don't mind flipping through and reading the copies I have as they won't be getting any worse. There's also something about the feel and smell of old newsprint!
Hi Ralph, I am enjoying the recent videos and we share a number of favorites. Can I just make one small comment and I am not trying to be a jerk but just want to help you fix a very small problem. You refer to Berni Wrightson as Bernie Wrightston. You add an extra "T" in his last name, not a big deal but you obviously love these comics just like I do and I would want someone to let me know if I was making videos and was mispronouncing a name. All the Best-Shawn Hamilton
Thanks Shawn! I've embarrassingly done this more than once in my videos, and a few others have let me know. I hope Berni isn't rolling in his grave every time I do this, as I don't want to incur his ghostly wrath! Another view gave me a nice tip to remember, 'Wright-son, right son?', which was good for a chuckle.
15:00 - that is GOD (the one and only) tier work - Not god (pantheon) tier work. Even within the tiers of master works there are master works, and this is THEE prime example...
The level of detail is staggering. Everything from The Monster's expression to the remains of the bride on the table, the endless amount of glass...it's a perfect piece of work.
Nice video. As i reduced my superhero/villain collection and got into PCH i ended up selling my JIM83 and using the money to buy JIM1. Much more interesting and rare.
What a great video! Enjoyed seeing all those cool covers! Thanks for sharing this!
Thanks! They are great and fun to look at.

I have to be honest, I think I enjoyed the reprinted stories more than the new ones! There's a quality to them that's hard to describe.
Great covers. One of my favorites is Supernatural Thrillers #6 with the Headless Horsemen.

@@raph-retro-comics Agreed and you are welcome!
Love your show! We share the same taste!
You have an excellent taste in comic books 😁 Thanks for watching!

Fun video. But...Wrightson's name is not pronounced "WrightsTon"...just Wrightson. Not trying to be a jerk, just trying to help.
Yes! I've unfortunately mispronounced his last name incorrectly in a few videos. Only way I'll learn.

Indeed! I think you'll have plenty of opportunities to get the JIM 83 back, but a JIM 1 doesn't come up very often at all.
