      Is there any DAW that doesn't need a subscription

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Roses_R_redeR do you mean needing to sing up and register? Or do you mean a monthly subscription fee? Most do not have a monthly subscription fee. Pro Tools is the only that I can think of where people think that it is subscription based but you can actually buy a licence for it and avoid the subscription.
      If you mean a DAW where you don’t have to sign up and register. Audacity and LMMS might be the only ones. If you’re on a Mac or have an iPhone or iPad you can use GarageBand. It’s built in and doesn’t require you to register it.

    • @Roses_R_redeR

      @@AudioTechTV yes I mean the fee the $200 a month or more for reason but I'm really considering reaper now . You know with the times being as crazy as they are... and I've got a bunch of kids and I'm not made of money..

    • @AudioTechTV
      @AudioTechTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Roses_R_redeR reaper is great and just $60 for license. Also check out Cakewalk. It’s free and not limited in anyway.

    Hello. Ableton Live Lite user here. I know I'm late to the party, looking at some of the comments dates, but I had to comment on Reaper. Ableton has been crashing, a lot, so I've been on the look out for something else. First of all, Reaper is fast, really fast. I had an old home built PC with 6g of memory and that's the reason for Ableton crashing. Reaper just go's and go's and go's, with zero crashing. I'm hooked. Thanks to Zane and That Metal Head over at SpectreSoundStudios. You guys rock.

    Thanks for this great video. I am a total beginner in terms of modern music production. I had some experience with sequencing and arranging music with my Korg Music Workstation 25 years. But wow, times have changed and I want to dive back into this great topic (which is a hobby for me). While researching the internet for online educational resources I discovered this great channel. The DAW is the central hub of music production and I have to decide which I should use. I cut down the list to Reaper, FL Studio and Studio One. Let's see which will win.

    Thanks very much for your help, very clear and concise instruction. Also they are offering a temporary license right now that's good until the end of January, if anyone wants to make use of this awesome DAW!

    Great video Zane. having to double-click to drop a midi note in the piano roll is kinda excessive though. I wonder why single clicking wasn't enough. Reaper has a great mixer, but for the actual compositional donkey-work, I prefer the piano rolls in FL or Bitwig. Think I'll keep Reaper for mastering jobs only. Really solid video and well explained !!

    What's the best approach of you want to create an electronic drum beat from scratch? Dragging samples in a timeline feels a little archaic. Is there any smarter way more analogous to a virtual drum computer? Reason has a ton of these types of instruments and I'm trying to assess whether switching to Reaper would work for me because I'm fed up with Reason's pricy upgrade model.

    good video,very informative. I'm using Mt Power Drumkit2 plug in for E-drums, I managed to make it work, however, since the Reaper is controlling my drum module and sound card , I'm struggling to play Yt along the Drumkit2 plug in.Normally I would use input to plug any other music source device but currently I'm using laptop output for headphones so YT seems like a good music source to play along.
    How to make it both work=plug in and YT as it's either way at the moment?

    I am looking to start recording and editing guitar/bass again. I had a MacBook with Line 6 POD for years and Mac dropped support for Line 6 so I stopped recording for the past 2+ years. Just bought a PC finally and am looking to get back into things. This DAW looks similar to GarageBand and Logic in interface and hotkeys. Would this be good for just guitar and bass though? I still have my POD and I also have a Mackie Onyx. PC DAW and audio interfaces are foreign to me.
    Thanks!

    what do i do for the audio interface settings if i have a usb mic and don’t need a audio interface ?

  • @chrisccc503

    ? for audio tech tv (btw thanks for this awesome tutorial as I just downloaded it) When I talk or record (keep in mind I did not set up my interface while recording to test so not sure if that makes a difference, as I just plugged in my midi keyboard ) but when I played back recordings I could hear this annoying echo and screetching sound throughout and just poor quality throughout. (I just talked into my audio speakers with no mic or anything) I am not sure how or what to adjust in setting to get ride of that.
    Also when I plugged in my midi and pulled up my synth in virtual instruments it was set at default and could only use basic boring default sounds (no matter what synth I picked) and the default sounds sounded strong but when I adjusted it to special synthesizers it stayed at default, so I had to pull up hybrid3 (the plug -in) separately outside of adding a virtual instrument to get the sound into reaper recording and when I played it back, it sounded very low and horrible, so not sure what is up with that or how I can get specific synths sounds (and not the default piano sound) in repear to sound like they do when playing them (strong and magnetic) Besides default there is only one or 2 other things to change it to and that did not seem to make a difference.
    Lastly, if I have 3 tracks and I only want to listen to track 2 and mute 1 and 3, something is still not working right and I normally cannot hear sound on any of them and can only hear the really bad sound when I unmute all of them.
    Please keep in mind I am a super beginner and I do have a scarlett 2i2 but I do not know if that would make a difference or not with the issues I described above if I set up the interface with it
    Any insight you could share would be great. Thank you so much again for answering my ?s and your tutorials are by far the best.
