Hey guys. What do you think? 6,200 nits peak is wild, right? How do you think it will do in the studio? Also, apologies for accidentally omitting the 98” QM8 in the graphic. It is currently $6,000
I really don't care for this brightness focus. Size and well controlled high mini-LED count do interest me as a projector replacement in a light controlled room. Even 100nits (full screen) can be blinding on a giant screen in that setting. I hope to see ~120" TVs focusing on picture quality and standard 1000 nit peak brightness.
I would definitely go for the 6,200 nits if the full screen brightness was 6,200 nits the whole time with the option to turn on the 6,200 nits like a brightness settings on a flashlight.
I have the 2023 qm8 and always find my self lowering the brightness at night time because it is oh so bright. This years model has 5K nits and 5K dimming zones. Whoa.
I just got the QM851G and I’m really pleased with it so far. TCL has my respect as a company because when I couldn’t afford a higher end TV I lived off of the S series and I didn’t have a single issue with it. TCL is legit in my book

What version is the OS on? Mine from 2021 is on 9, while Android TV is up to 13. My one and only security patch is from 2020! Lots of oohs and ahs on the new sets but no one doing updates on older sets from that company it seems. Sony, Samsung, LG, etc. on the other hand...
I hve been using TCL 4K HDR 65 inch last 5 years, very satisfying viewing experience😅. But occasionally when ever I visited electronic shops I felt LG or Samsung panels are better 😅
@@CerdurTVor at least the TV almost completely toppled over and Caleb had to go to great lengths to save it. I forget which TV. So, I couldn't tell you which video to watch.
What's up with the gap in screen size in the QM7? It leaps from 75" to 98" in a single bound. With no 85" offering I'm forced to choose between the QM8 or the Q6 series. I can't go with the 98" QM7 for physical & monetary reasons.
Caleb, one interesting thing to cover in your upcoming review of 115 inch QM8 would be how immersive the picture is particularly for movies. Can it easily beat the best projector available in the market? That'd be interesting to know.
Unrelated but I just bought the u7k. Thanks so much for the review fam it is amazing. I haven't bought a TV since 2018, back then I bought a 50" Vizio with only 1080p. This thing is just crazy. Glad I could get a professional opinion on what to get
The upgraded 75" q691 with full array local dimming and onkyo 2.1 speakers is on clearance in the US at costco right now for only $400, if you can find one. In store only, not delivered. Sadly, there aren't any reviews of this specific Coctco-only model, but it seems to be the same as the Q68 series, but with FireOS, upgraded Onkyo 2.1 speakers, a longer 3-year warrantee and they're claiming over 500 zones of full array local dimming. I gambled on it, and it looks and sounds awesome. I think that right now, that's about the best bank for the buck you're gonna find!
I am looking at the TCL lineup for my next TV. I am in Denmark and we dont have the QM8. Looks like its called C855. But the specs are not exactly the same?? Can anyone clarify?
My QM8 is super slow and buggy lately whenever I try to stream. Would it be redundant to buy a Chromecast, or should I get something like an Apple TV? Im not big on Apple and primarily use Google services, but I also want the best picture quality and a fluid user interface
@Learner1985 I honestly I have no idea. I'm not super tech savvy. I used to stream through my Xbox Series S on this TV and it was super snappy and I had no problems. Decided to sell the Xbox and steam through my TV and it's so much slower in comparison
Very interested in how the 75" QM8 stacks up vs a 77" S90D in a wide-seating living room with windows watching YT TV, YT, and some 4k HDR streaming movies. I think OLED may win, but brightness likely goes to the QM8 and it's $500 less, so if viewing angles are pretty good and processing on par, the QM8 may be better choice.
Of course the OLED will win. The S90D would also give you the benefit of lasting like 3x as long or maybe even longer because it's not from a garbage brand.

What streaming platform are they using? Hoping more TVs use Roku this year.
TCL used to be Roku based, until last year when they switched to Android. I don't know if TCL uses different OS in different countries like Hisense.
