christeebs Cooper did mention on Twitter, apart from the fact that her beret was to cover up her hair loss to all its haters, that Braddock was on some meds ...
Hello everyone in the comments, I'm coming back to this over a year after it was filmed and it's quite weird having this as a record of that time. I had a minor breakdown between episodes and my confidence wasn't great going into the second round, and I did on some level want to get knocked out to have it over with (thank you Dani). I think I would have had a better shot at it if I'd gone on even this year (second year undergrad) rather than first year undergrad in terms of confidence personally and in terms of training up the team (which I know e.g. Leo did) as well as knowledge. It's also weird seeing that when I was considerably thinner (I could wear that jumper because I was underweight and therefore always cold) and had a considerable bald patch where I had pulled out my own hair due to stress hence the hat. Anyway the experience was good I met some great people from the other teams through it and I recommend doing it!
you absolutely smashed it there! it's always satisfying to see another chick slaying all other competitors too I feel you on the mental health stuff, hope you're better and remember to care for yourself
Cooper is a beast. Will be looking forward to St Peter's - Oxford in the 2nd round, especially that mustache. And I'm always delighted whenever I see fellow Americans on the program.
Wow, many thanks for such a fast upload. I actually enjoyed this game quite a bit, due in no small part to the dapper gentleman Mr. Williford, with his gorgeous face, stunning blue eyes, impressive mustache, handsome attire, gentlemanly southern accent and thoughtfully intelligent answers. Having said that, Bravo to the winning team: great job! Looking forward to seeing you all again.
The Oxford team is looking good, though Braddock from Geneva really has to pick up his game compared to the rest of his team. Hodgson and Cooper look really strong. For students of, respectively, statistics and biological sciences, they seem very knowledgeable on humanities related topics.
S48 LOSERS’ TABLE Despite being on pace for a triple-digit finish, Pembroke managed to go from 60 points to 35 between minutes 12 and 24. Incredibly, they ended up with the worst score yet this season. And now with only three more first-round games to play, Emmanuel - Cambridge have secured the first of the highest-scoring losers' places and will have the chance to reach the second round. 175 Emmanuel - Cambridge ------------------- 150 Exeter 150 Hertford - Oxford 110 Queen’s - Belfast ------------------- 105 York 90 SOAS 75 Pembroke - Oxford 75 Sidney Sussex - Cambridge 55 London - Institute in Paris 55 Strathclyde 50 Pembroke - Cambridge
2 Pembroke Oxfords? If Queens-Belfast go through on 110 it will signal that this season's teams are indeed pretty crappy, AND/OR the selection process is :/
At the start of the match, I thought: surely this will be a close one; and: the losing team will probably earn enough points to come back for a playoff round. Was wrong on both counts. The losing team faded badly.
Deo's beauty is mesmerising (to me). Perhaps I'm stereotypical here but at the first glance looking at her I had the feeling the girl is a Londoner. Her make-up style, perhaps?
Rosalind Franklin was a pioneering X-ray crystallographer whose techniques produced the first images of DNA. This allowed Francis Watson and James Crick to work out the double-helix structure of DNA, for which they won the Nobel Prize in 1962. Sadly, Watson had already died, so could not be nominated for the award. Neither Watson, Crick nor Franklin "discovered" DNA as such, as it had been known about for some years previously. Their work did, however, permit its structure to be determined for the first time.
Watson and Crick worked out the structure of DNA, but they weren't the ones who discovered it. It had been known about since the 19th century, but it wasn't called "DNA" until the 20th.
Paxman is wrong. 'This bizarre committee is a perennial embarrassment' has 6 double letters, not seven. One question at least I could answer correctly.
Only paying special attention to consonants is a typical quirk of EFL learners trying to come to grips with English spelling. Right. I move to a desert island.
St. Peter's Oxford team members look like characters from a detective novel.
Yes, Herge's adventures of Tin tin. Or something by Enid Blyton.
Cooper looks like a British version of Velma
St Peter's look like they were cast by Quentin Tarantino. My new favourites.
they look like twats ..even the cute one
more like the pop-up characters on guess who?...
Aldo Raine was also from Maynardville, Tennessee. You may be onto something.
Williford is just Elon Musk with a fake moustache.
My thoughts exactly! Glad to see someone agrees ;P
I was trying to think who he looked like, you're totally right! :)
italian elon musk
kiloscott
Wrong. You lose 5 points. It's 'O.P.H.T.H.A.L.M.O.L.O.G.I.S.T.'
Thought that too, genuinely the funniest image ever of Musk sneaking on with a bad moustache. Almost something could imagine him doing...lol
Braddock looks absolutely distraught every time he gets something wrong, I hope that he's okay
christeebs
Cooper did mention on Twitter, apart from the fact that her beret was to cover up her hair loss to all its haters, that Braddock was on some meds ...
Heeylow, I'm absolutely distraught.
- Braddock
😂😂😂😂
@@Sandra27HK only isthe one

You're very smart and talented. No need to worry about what others say about you. Be confident. You're smart.
I'm glad you are feeling better now. I hope things further improve for you :-)
You're a great girl, I send you much love.
oh Laura, you were the best mind in the room!
I'm genuinely sorry to hear that you've been struggling.

Wow, Miss Cooper. Superb performance.
Yes, she was truly terrific.
Marry me Miss Cooper
trueblue - Biological sciences is not the type of subject you'd expect an SJW feminist to be doing, as it requires work and might be useful.
No, me me me!
Wat is going on in these comments
1:37 I never would've thought Nietzsche was from Tennessee
Never imagined I’d see a fellow Tennesseean on this programme!
Thanks for sharing!
that is a beautiful mustache he has
Since when did John Green decide to go back to college.
The whole St Peters team wouldn't look out of place in a Harry Potter movie.
Ms Cooper is wonderful, and in that beret!
is williford actually elon musk wearing a feeble disguise?
St. Peter's has to do better on those history questions, considering that two of their members read history.
not their specializations, one supposes
Cooper looks like a presenter of a BBC Bitesize GCSE video.
The boys in the Cambridge team seemed hell-bent on buzzing away any chance they had. Well done Cooper, Elon Mu-WIlliford, and Williford's moustasche
Deo's beauty
Cooper's style
Williford's EVERYTHING
Cooper has puffins on her jumper, that is some serious style

Did seem to have a little meltdown midway through haha
lots of training , like any scholastic competition team.
Braddock was on some serious medication in this lol
The bloke on the left of St Peter's team seemed to be just sitting there.
Well, this started close, but one team just clearly was better than the other...
SPOILER:
Also, that mustache clearly deserve a next round spot.
You wonder how some teams make it through the heats.
I'm guessing coz Pembroke had a 'Bamber' on it Lol
You also have to wonder how some individuals make it onto their teams. It seems that almost every team has one or two passengers.
Williford looks smashing.

Cooper what a smashing performance !
Paxo quite ticked off on this one ...all the more enjoyable
seems perfectly as normal to me
although you can hardly blame him on some: ZZZZZZimbabwe....

Deo cute too--knows the KINKS! wow, kid. nice one.
"Cooper"? That's Michelle Dockery aka Lady Mary Crawley.
Thanks for uploading!
Deo is gorgeous!
Too bad beauty = / always = intelligence.
I want an alarm clock with the tune "BZZZZ St PETERS WILLIFORD - wake up".
Fantastic effort from James.
Cooper super cute.
I'm not from Britain so I would like to ask a question. Are these questions based on their curriculum or their suppose to be "General knowledge"?
General knowledge
elon musk is not kidding anyone with that fake moutache
i thought the customary term is "nominate" instead of "designate"?
You're right, they should have forfeit the match
Limerick Goblin thx for the laugh :)
Happily Paxo isn't as picky and inflexible as Trebek. At 4:50 Deo doesn't even 'nominate' Bamber who answers 'Kuiper Belt'.
I'm in love with Deo, just saying
This moustache was legendary
Already seen it when it came out
I'm going to keep clicking on this video until youtube stops telling me to watch it. She is a goddess
If Elon Musk were a CEO in the 1980s.
no one:
cooper: 🤔
Did Pembroke give more wrong answers to starters than right ones?
Not only does Elon manage 3 companies but also goes on to UC lol
Bernstein, not Bernsteen!
Poor Pembroke
That moustache isn't fooling anyone, Elon.
As his mother I could only wish that he had Musk's money! LOL
I don't usually like mustaches but I like this one...?
14:31 COOPER OG
i actually liked the pembroke team :( but congrats to st. john’s, esp cooper and williford
If you watch University Challenge every Monday night, you will learn it's like life; you can, and never, will have your favorite team win.
When the guy who was first wrong answer uploads the video.
Laura Cooper is soo cute.
I am so attracted by intelligence!
As am I. Too bad beauty =/ always = intelligence on University Challenge.
Like Hannah Woods and Victoria Coren-Mitchell. Same with women musicians like Sharon Corr, Rosie and Amy Langley. In fact all of the Langley sisters!
Cooper is a real babe. She won that for them!

you said James Crick and Francis Watson instead of James Watson and Francis Crick.
So I did! Thanks for correcting my slip-up.
Philadelphia all day baby!!!!
DEO is a bad B allie
Some handsome Americans on this episode . . .
PLEEEEESE stop applauding over questions. !!!!!!!!
Aren't St Peter's members just like Cluedo characters?
Hodgson and Braddock are useless, just passengers. They really let the side down in the second round. They also don't seem to care, pathetic!
mmmm Deo.
braddock's presence is pointless... just wants to be a showpony
Paxman is wrong. 'This bizarre committee is a perennial embarrassment' has 6 double letters, not seven. One question at least I could answer correctly.
I got that before either team ... recount Lol
Bizarre = 1 Committee = 3 Perennial = 1 Embarrassment = 2
Only paying special attention to consonants is a typical quirk of EFL learners trying to come to grips with English spelling. Right. I move to a desert island.
Urvi B
Are u a teacher ... so patient! I thought I'd let him scratch his head a tad longer :P
Wow miss Cooper looks like the hot girl dressed like a geek from a film!
Elon Musk busted. The moustache did not hide you.
I cannot adequately express how much I hate the intro "music". I am horribly transported to a dentist's drill.
That fake moustache is just a distraction from his ridiculous tie.
The mustache is not a fake.
Too many useless arts questions.
