I think it started with icc, then they started recruiting chinese coaches at icc, and now all the former chinese coaches are starting their own academies. We are so blessed by these coaches in the bay area
personally, i have taken lessons from tao, tian ye, and bob chen. And my present coach is kou. If I am not mistaken, all of them worked for icc at one point.

Tao used to handle Zhang with ease. Now the tide has turned. Being a full time coach hurts one's level of competition quite a a lot.

I just got finished getting 11-1'd by Bob chen. Good times.and believe me, that 1 point wasn't because of anything that I did.
did you play bob chen at swan? I always thought bob chen retired too early. @@LosAngelesTableTennis
Is the Kou Le coaching worth it? I always wondered if a low level player really feels that much of a difference when it comes down to it.@@robert2780
