You're right, I wasn't expecting that! I'd love to see a line like an "alternators 2" where the gimmick is completely accurate modern vehicle reimaginings of the characters without the sacrifices from having working doors, interiors, trunks, and mechanical components. They could re-release/remold Netflix bee, same thing with the Datsuns and the seekers.

I'd rather all gimmicks of alternators. They can do it so much better now.

I love how the back of the truck is not the legs for once. Love the original design mechanics.
I know Legacy's whole thing is G1-ified recreations of things, but I really hope after that we get a line of redesigns like this. Some characters have been using the same transformation with very few variations for decades. It would be cool to see some new ones as experiments.

I know this is a super unpopular opinion. I prefer the Holiday Prime colors for this particular mold. But I love the silver paint added to the shin armor.

Honestly, if I get one I'm gonna display him with Legacy Bulkhead and Prime Arcee. He's lanky, a bit bottom heavy, and the truck mode reminds me more of TF Prime (or of Earthspark) than of G1
He would make a pretty decent TFP Optimus I guess!
I distinctly remember there being leaks for a TFP Optimus alongside Bulkhead, Arcee, and (before we knew he was a Siege PR) Soundwave.
I love this mold, so cool to see in normal colors. The way the leg seems to explode with parts everywhere then just cleanly comes together is impressively and surprisingly simple.
This is one of the more unique transformations for Optimus. I absolutely love it. This and Armada Prime is great.
The GTR alternators is one of the most unique transformation as well
This could have been such a good mold for a legacy G2 combat hero Optimus prime, but oh well... All that aside, this guy looks so good
We might still get him, the mould is still fresh. Hope that they repaint him as Nemesis Prime though.
I imagine hasbro isn’t done with this mould yet. They always try to get 3 uses out of one so hero prime might still be coming!
It's an easy repaint, but I'd love them to use this mould for a nemesis prime, think it would look dope
The colors on this figure look so much better than the Christmas one and I would mind if the bumblebee movie universe takes in modern era and he scans this truck and it would make sense.

@@PrimeVsPrime the only I don’t like is the one smokestacks, I wish it has 2 smokestacks to make it g1 accurate and I wish the back of the truck was full blue to make it g1 accurate.
I always knew this Optimus was a Volvo Truck, now I hope they rereleases this guy with his G2 Hero colors and convoy trailer

Oprimus prime, Rodimus Prime, Sentinel Prime, Zeta Prime, and now..... AMAZON PRIME! the most powerful prime ever, none of the other primes can do prime day delivery
The way that the colors are spaced out over the robot modes makes it look like it could pass for a movie design, I like it👍🏻

The bot and alt modes are gorgeous. Likely ER replacement.
Would be cool to see some comparisons of him with the other modern vehicle recently released in CHUG, Knockout. Would give us a good idea of how he looks with standard deluxes too.
Awesome Review! I may sound silly when I say this but I prefer mainline figures as to generations so I will probably pick up Rotb figures but this is probably the best generations prime we’ve seen for a while.
7:19 I think he would scan the Ford Focus hatchback, they actually make them in Bumblebee yellow with black stripes.

You're forgetting about Alternators/Binaltech Prime! Those figures are AMAZING. Yes, they are finnicky to transform. Yes, they are flimsy and don't have the best articulation, and yes they just straight up look a little goofy sometimes. BUT, they were mainline toys released in the mid 2000's with fully licensed alt modes, beautiful paint schemes, rubber tires, working steering, and fully decked out interiors. And to think figures like that used to sell at retail for $20... Seriously, you should give some of them a look. It'd give the older collectors like me a real kick. They truly are something special as long as you go in with the right mindset. I recommend Tracks personally! One of the first times a transformers toy referenced G1. Smokescreen was the start of the line and he is incredible as well. :)
You know, i think its great they're coming out with new forms of Optimus Prime BUT what about Megatron. Upgrade his gun alt mode. Make him into a shoulder cannon, a stealth fighter get, something

I’ve been waiting for a good Optimus as a new transformer lover. The one from the bumblebee movie looked like what I wanted.
Both modes look good but I'm so over fake Prime chests. That back-window unit is pretty well made, I like the smokey look, but they could give us a fresh new take on what Prime looks like - maybe a design that plays more directly with the Matrix as its centrepiece.
What if: they had originally planned to release the Christmas Optimus as a seasonal thing for everything from Easter to Halloween and this is just testing the waters as to what we think of the mold
and that's just a theory

Great looking Optimus! I would've liked to see more conversion in the legs and maybe more detail in the red plastic, but I'm not mad at it. Might consider adding this one!

Mark mentioned using a hair dryer to help popping off the head for use on the Earthrise version.
Meaning that the designers made sure that the same size ball joint was used.
The prime head sculpts just keep getting better.

First time seeing this transformation and when insaw bot mode I wasn't keen on the legs but wow the engineering that went into them

I would not mind a G1 re-imagining set in the present. I kind of hoped they would have given this mold a Movie Optimus Prime paint scheme with the flames to make kind of a Classics/Legacy style movie figure. I don't mind the Holiday figures. I like have the one odd Stormtrooper standing next to a squad waiting for Emperor Palpatine.
That's the best looking back of an Optimus truck I've ever seen in a figure

I did the swap putting the VNR head onto earthrise. Only one mod needed, earthrise balljoint is way bigger so i had to file it down a bit. Also the placement of the hole is a bit off between the two so for earthrise in alt mode theres a bit of a gap closing up the head panels

What gets me is the fact that it's a PERFECT Model for a Movie universe (V1/Bay) Optimus figure. Mainly AOE/TLK, since the truck fits more with that design.

Xmas is definitely very original and will stand out from the rest but personally I think you can never beat the original colour haha

I’m using this as a standin for Prime Optimus prime, next to a thrilling 30 bumblebee, and Legacy Evolution prime universe figures
I wish they'd add the flames to him - they could re-release him in legacy as a movie verse g1 crossover optimus. The truck reminds me of his AOE/TLK form and would live to see that style applied to this.
He actually pulled up an image of mudflap
The head swap is possible. The ball joint on ER is slightly bigger you will need to heat the head. It’s tight. I did the swap with holiday Prime. This mold has a bobble head with the ER head. When you swap them back the head is looser. Be sure you want todo the swap first.

It's nice. It's a more modern looking truck. I really hope they use it a basis for possible Nova Prime.
If Prime were to scan a truck in North America today, the most common tractor would be a Freightliner Cascadia with a high roof and sleeper.

I am going to pick this up definitely. But there are interesting possibilities. Imagine if Hasbro were able to retool this into a copyright neutral generic truck in roughly the same shape, (similar to the relationship between Netflix Bumblebee and Earthrise Cliffjumper) then that could really open the door to modifications and remolds, like one that is a more precise representation of earthspark optimus or maybe a G2 combat hero Optimus

I have a question is this only through Hasbro pulse and or the internet or will these be showing up in brick-and-mortar stores?
Also I would like to see this done as AG to combat hero Optimus Prime maybe with a different trailer with a missile launcher because the robot mode with the wheels on the back and the front of the truck for me the feet remind me of the old G2 combat hero
I don’t know why but this Optimus has a youthful energy to it, like it’s giving vibes of War for Cybertron (video game)/Animated. Like this is a younger Optimus who isn’t Autobot Leader, but has left his days as Orion Pax far behind him.

When I first saw the new Volvo Optimus I thought “meh, looks mid” and was content with my Holiday Prime
But after seeing it up close I realise it is way better than I realized

Well those Netflix/Earthrise megatrons really love to yellow. Hopefully next one will be good. As for OP, this one looks interesting and might be a good stand-in for those that don't like paying 90$ for SS86 Commander OP.

I'm happy to see new designs. From the waist up it looks great, but I just can't get over those legs. They could have done something with the windshield. I agree with you that it would have worked if it was the Earthspark Optimus.

Love this figure, glad the Holiday version wasn't the only version of the mold. I didn't mind the Holiday version but I hated the fact that his chest was red.

Bumblebee as a Ford GT would be sick.
I could see Energon Rodimus being made out of this. Replace the trailer with a rocket pack that takes up the truck's bed for truck mode, which transforms into shoulder pauldrons in robot mode. Throw in Rodimus' big blaster too.
