- Web extra: Several years ago the lead singer of the Irish rock band was diagnosed with glaucoma. Bono talks with Anthony Mason about how it's affected him, and how he plans to help battle unnecessary blindness in the developing world.

I have glaucoma too and it would be nice if bono raised awareness for glaucoma.
People beware about wearing tight collars or tight ties or tight trousers/pants in the belly. Beware also with lifting weights or forcing to stool or playing wind instruments. It increases intraocular pression and damages the optical nerve. (Needless to say self-suffocation, self-strangulation or strangulation play by other people is extremely dangerous to glaucoma-prone people...)

Eat berries everyday. Eat Collards and peaches multiple times a week. Sleep with a slightly elevated head from rest of body.
I was just diagnosed with it yesterday as well as cataracts. I'm 44.
You’re not bad. I have it and I am 27. Elvis had it too. So the thing is to stop it when you see the first loss of vision happening by using the drops. In my case I think I did wrong to stop the drops for like a month thinking I’m better . Try to do a laser surgery if you can afford one and well the glaucoma is what it is just fix the rest.

Exactly, there’s something off about his ‘condition’…..he started wearing shades all the time to look cool, now as he’s getting older he feels he needs to explain that away with a medical diagnosis.
Earlier, he would not wear glasses all the time.
@BudFuddlacker except he didn't wear shades all the time. During Zoo TV he wore the Fly shades only 3 songs in. The rest he didn't wear shades. Even in interviews he didn't wear them all the time.

I have glaucoma too! So what? Am I special now? There's eye drops for it! Should I change my name to something that sounds cool, wear leather clothing or wear stupid glasses everywhere I go? I guess that's why every one of their songs sounds like he's (Paul) crying. My wife's cousin went to all 5 shows when they were here in Chicago and he doesn't even know their REAL names! You two (maybe you too?) fans are amazing! I'm going to put in my eye drops now "with or without you"!

Bono was always a rock star, way before glaucoma. He talked about it when asked for it. So no, you are not special, as you talk about it now too, even when not asked.
