Away and he’s been incarcerated for almost a year pending court case being heard and finalized with a judgement. Admiration for this courageous woman who survived and is now helping other women and future possible victims of this twisted patriarchal structure. “ we won’t go back” for all women and men.❤️❤️🤞🏼🙌🏼

I can't believe my library already has it‼️ I'm 5th in line on the holds list. I had a go-round with Jehovah's Witnesses yesterday. Usually we get along okay, but I'm good and sick of patriarchal religion, X10 right now. Patriarchy, in general. Such a crock‼️‼️‼️‼️

Talk about the universe having a sense of humor. They come to the door after that book?? Ha!! I hear you. I'm aware I tend to be intensely anti institutionalized religion. I really wish the men of this system would have to really step into a day of their wives. I can’t stand this crazed way of living. It seems unbelievable something like this is happening in America, or anywhere. My sister was involved with this movement. When I was about 11 I saw my sister get spanked by her husband. It bothered me for years. It’s all about control and degrading women anyway they can. Thank you for shining the light on this disgusting situation. Not Christlike at all. Sickening really. Had to stop listening. Was too much like my parents life. He was a hungarian macho peasant with PTSD from Korean War. I majored in theology to get my catholic faith straightened out as my mother went overboard pre-Vatican religiosity while looking away at the sexual abuse going on. Priest told her to pray harder. Not surprisingly, got involved with catholic charismatic healing group. When it got to turning over my finances & schedule to another husband as I was a single parent, I was done done done. Almost we t to pat roberton University for my masters. There would have been the same life but slaving to make money for him. That was years ago. Still love the mysticism of catholic faith but, the rules, well, am a skorpio. What can I say. Tragic this abuse still goes on.

Starting this book with you. So far this sounds like the Amish. Men rule women under your heel. I just cringe when people worship the Amish lifestyle. My Uncle used to call his wife, my Aunt, 'woman'. He'd say "get over here woman". Geez. This was in the 70's and probable before I was born. My cousins say it was like growing up in prison. Yet they are all still voting Turnip - my my.

Often the church itself, the people, the minister and the elders are as abusive as the husband! My husband wasn't "saved" or a churchgoer, but every time I tried to leave, that b@$turd would "walk the aisle" and "get saved" (3 times!!) because he knew the church would pressure me to stay. When I finally made it out, my friends dropped me, my kids also got their hearts broken as the moms wouldn't let their kids be friends with mine any more. I moved to another town, found another church (oh when will I learn??) but it wasn't more than a year and I was DONE with that crap. My mom, however was another story. At one point she attempted to get all but my oldest kid removed from me, lying about me being a drug addict; when i asked her why she said that I was "going straight to hell and taking those kids with you" ... all because I was not going to church.
and i havent watch this yet but its probably going to make me want to scream...
Your story is painful and all too common. I'm sorry. I hope you watch Tia tomorrow. She will inspire you with ger strength, resilience and hope. Hang in there. You aren't alone.💕👍☘️
I'm going to do my best to get through this, but I'm already feeling squeamish about what is implied re. treatment of women, etc., in such churches/marriages. This so correlates with the Paul Wallis writings. Re. the door-to-door people, I love Steven King's term "God bothers." Oh, I remember Marabel Morgan. Her ideas never quite made sense. Didn't her husband divorce her? Maybe she met him at the door wrapped in the wrong brand of clear wrap. 🤣 What an awful human being her husband was!!!!! How on earth did she keep her sanity?
