Pete's playing makes the world go round! Gotta love some new Victory amp tones, I love my V50 very much and I don't mind preaching the gospel of Martin Kidd and his awesome amp to others. Sounds stellar, gents!
What cleans, lol? This amp seemingly has zero headroom. Sounds great for those broken up rock chords but no way this can do chimey cleans at proper band volume. Unfortunate..
This was on my short list of amps to give me more headroom than my AC15C1... but I'm not hearing any headroom. I mean... maybe change out the V1 to a 12AY7. So maybe a Dr Z Maz 38?
What's really interesting is that the bass middle and treble knobs are really just tweaking knobs where no position is unusable. The tone knob really changes the overall EQ. Really cool feature.
Lee and Pete, thanks for a great demo as always! I just ordered my VC35 Deluxe in the States, will be here in the next few days. I'm a Sheriff 44 and Deluxe V40 Deluxe head owner also. Can't say enough good things about Victory amps! I will eventually outfit them with Victory cabinets also. I came here after Pete tried the Copper V1 pedal and that tone was so good I had to check out one of the actual amps and this amp is screaming my name…. Definitely on my list now
Victory amps are going to start stealing Marshall's thunder at the rate that they are going. I love vox amps they just have a sparkle that other amps seem to lack and I think that Victory has in a sense captured that Vox quality sparkle and moved it into modern capabilities in a more utilitarian unit with the Copper. I have played AC 30 for years but they don't particularly like being pushed to be nasty and it seems that the Copper doesn't mind the challenge. Thanks fellas.

This, IMHO, is Victory’s best amp. That thing sounds incredible from beginning to end. The crunch on that thing has classic hard rock write ALL OVER it. But, the clean is pristine, as well. Just….WOW. Put a quality OD on the front, and you can play all the 70’s/80’s music worth playing.
Got to say, this is the first Victory which I’d be tempted to buy - the higher gain stuff always sounds thrashy and shrill when cranked (the Kraken especially), which seems to become very mushy and prone to clipping. This stays clear and articulate even at higher gain. I quite like the idea of the pedalboard version of this, as it seems very versatile in sound, but simple in terms of controls/features.
Capt Lee, Pete, Andertons: Will you guys do an in depth review of the new line of Mesa Boogie California Tweeds amps please? I'm pondering on of these, and I can't think of anyone who would do a more honest and better review than you guys. Thumbs up if you'd like to see this one too. Thanks!
I gotta agree. I do think the Startocaster is the perfect guitar design, both in terms of playability, comfort, versatility and sound. Everyone has their preferences, and it’s understandable why someone would prefer a Les Paul or a Tele.
Finally - an AUTHENTIC amp demo! Well played, Pete - you rock (even on a G**son ... well shit the duckdape did not help hide all the logo business) :D :D
Oh, oh, oh. How *good* did that Strat sound at 26:00? *Very* good - beautiful, in fact. ("Better" match, imo, than the LP.) OTOH, agree that the LP "took" the pedals better. In any case, great demo - thanks!
I'm currently choosing between the VC35 and DP40. I'm surprised you had both in this video and only briefly compared clean tones. It would be nice to see Pete do a full video on the DP40. I know he's played on it in a couple episodes but it hasn't been highlighted on it's own episode yet.
This is the first Victory head I really want.... how is the master on it? Mainly for practicing in the house... for recording I'll go direct into a reactive load thingee.... most people aren't going to benefit from the 2x12 though... a nice 1x12 with a blue or greenback will both sound great, clean or gainy with an AC30 circuit.
. It is vox inspired but not copy. Diffrent beast! Better Master, low power mode, more compact size, uk made, great service support, just crazy good little amp.
It still sounds good at lower volume, but I'd be curious to know how low that went in this video. I don't play late at night, so I guess a "home" level volume rather than what you might call "Bedroom" volume is what I'm looking for. Sounds great, though. I'm torn between this and the Sheriff. But then you could always get the Sheriff preamp pedal and run it 4-cable method - best of both!
@@bradleyjpaolucci i did something else - i got hold of a BD1 (the old Rob Chapman head without his signature on it) last year, and I like it, so I'm thinking as it's only single-channel head (It's like Victory made their version of a Tiny Terror) , to get a V4 Copper preamp for those sounds, either for some cleans (the BD1 struggles a bit to get clean) or the driven sounds the Copper does well. The BD1's effects loop has a mix control, too. From asking around, I could use that to achieve blends of the Copper and BD1, which seems like a cool idea to me!
