The curious thing is that Pat Eddery actually went too soon in the king George showing that he was a bit spooked by the bad ride Greville had given the horse.. DB was a difficult ride inasmuch as judgment was needed but what a superb flashy wonderful horse.
Greville Starkey, Hall of Fame and never to be forgotten for easily the worst ride in a major race ever lol. Still looks as bad now as it did then when I had £30 on the winner at 6/1 and couldn't believe my luck, cheers Greville.

yeah it was a crap ride even though they didnt know he'd stay. And no one knows who was the 'best ever'. DB is a contender, thats all we can say.
ha this years Epsom Derby winner came from dead last to win - no exhuses just not good enough on the day.

DB was unbalanced and took too long to get going. No pacemaker so it was a slowly run race. Starkey was only partly to blame
