Listen to comrade Akuno! 3 critical takeaways, among others, from his talk: 1) creation & expansion of mutual aid networks 2) political defense (including self defense) 4) SOLIDARITY (unity without uniformity) 4) NO compromise with liberals, or conservatives, on STOPPING the genocide in Gaza

I want to thank y’all for this. I was in a dark place for a while and listening to Kali Akuno speak has brought me some calm and clarity. And amen to this point re: the many ongoing genocides the West is complicit in 1:17:11
This is was great. Thank you, Jared. Starting to think that everything Kali laid out here, and the praxis he’s cultivated and lived by for years, is less a utopia and more of an absolute imperative and necessity to survive - not only during a second Trump term, but in the face of worsening climate disasters and increasing state repression. Gaza is a blueprint for the future. Fascism in America might very well soon look like jackboots & armbands; but it also will be a bipartisan technocratic Voltron that uses AI-generated accuracy to mark everyone for elimination based on resource scarcity.
TY for saying out loud that we all need to come around to that it is likely there won't be another true election cycle again. We need to organize our communities for self-governance, local ownership, self-sufficiency for basic needs and services, bioregional regeneration, and intersectional inclusion (including climate refugees, immigrants, trans refugees, etc).
we do this by living within the limits of nature (especially bioregional), acknowledging the harmful social hierarchies are the same which are causing exploitation of nature, and organizing our communities for self-governance and local ownership. we do this by -building local political coalitions for taking over local government and economic power. -mass protest, occupation, solidarity networks, mutual aid, rebuilding domestic communities. -leveraging novel legal structures- community land trusts, multistakeholder coops, local finance mechanisms, and inventing other new things. -embedding it within ecovillages and creating new cities. -and then new institutions are created to support it, like citizen assemblies overseeing economic commons.
Kali Akuno appreciate the solidarity around understanding realities of grassroots struggle which may living in empire have forgotten or never learned but would be necessary as the times change. 49:52 Kali mentions healthcare for women I would like to suggest that men have more discussions with men about they can do their part in reproductive matters aka. condoms and vasectomy these items are legal so need for morning after pill and abortions will be reduced. It may light women's load a little until universal health care and actual family building support are realized Nationwide.
Good to hear this analysis from Kali. I have been saying for a while now the close connection mass immigrant deportations has to increased penal labor to replace it. They literally tried to implement that in Alabama some years ago. Prison labor and unemployed people on probation. No one ever really believed what i was arguing. Kali is the first one who said exactly what i believe. As a New Afrikan nationalist i believe it is time now to actualize our politics more so than ever before. Liberalism is a failure. A lot of these social media "movements" will reveal their incapacity to resist and build in real life. Time to get busy.
we have such a garbage oppressive media and educational environment imposed on us none of these rhetorical circles stopped to consider who would be rendered downwardly mobile to fill these labor vacuums

I think we need a deep dive into the tech industry's true role. Many comrades talk about 'AI' but are using the industry's narratives to understand what's happening, which leads us astray. Algorithmic systems are having and will continue to have impacts but not in the way the tech industry asserts (which is a misdirection). Varoufakis' 'cloudalist' thesis is a result of this lack of technical acumen.

just a few thoughts in response @walter1932 . If you've followed our show for the last 8 years you'd know that we've never once hosted a debate and that we've discussed on multiple occasions why (for better or worse - and there are pros and cons for sure) that is not our approach. Others who have differing views on what is to be done are welcome on our platform of course and there are other platforms who host debates and things like that. Hell I'm not totally opposed to it if people want to do that. I'm not sure what assertion of Kali's I should've played devil's advocate with. Again that is not my general orientation in almost any conversation on our platform. As for Cooperation Jackson they were absolutely involved regarding the water crisis in Jackson, maybe not as the leading force, but that seems like a sectarian comment or a dig. As for poverty in Jackson, obviously that is something much greater than what CJ can adequately address and they're quite clear on that within all their work. Doesn't mean they don't do work that is meaningful to the community down there. As for being very far from actualizing it, that's true. But that doesn't mean it's the wrong horizon. For folks who propose another, I'm here to listen. The last thing I will say is this was a public live conversation. I asked the questions I saw from the chat that people had. If people had disagreements or critical questions etc for Kali and asked them, I would've shared those with Kali for his reply. Perhaps we can get into them next time. But don't assume I can read your mind if you're not there to voice your thoughts. Last thing I'll say is this is at least the third discussion we've had with Kali on this orientation going back a few years and there will be more. Some of what you raised we addressed in our prior discussions or went into more detail on. He's been consistently sounding the alarm and arguing for his orientation for some time. If you don't like it that's fine. There's lots of stuff we've platformed over the years that I don't like lol. So we're all entitled to our opinions and what we think the correct orientation is. Always open to engage further.
