That acapella part was actually unplanned. The director of the video said that the first time he sung it they had to stop shooting because the ppl on set froze lol.
That´s Tatiana Thumbtzen who later became kinda obsessed with him. She later went on tour with him and got fired for crossing the line - kissing him onstage unexpectedly. And yeah, MJ did like her initially. He said that he liked to choose women for his videos himself because it is him who has to pretend he likes them and it is easier when it´s true.
With MJ, remember there are usually several versions of a video. There´s usually a shorter one for the TV and than a full one. There´s a longer version of this video.

She was in love with him and she claimed that she was being encouraged behind the scenes by his mother...and honestly I could see Katherine trying to force pieces to get Michael coupled up and married at the time.
If I remember correctly, she said that she asked Michael before the show to kiss and he agreed. Apparently, MJs manager didn´t like it and fired her beyond Michaels say so.

@diggs19 Michael wanted to kiss the girl in the video. He had a mint in his mouth ready to kiss her. It was the director who told the girl not to kiss him. If you watch the BAD 25 Documentary by Spike Lee the director of TWYMMF video talks about that.

The story goes that when Michael did the acapella part on set, everyone went silent and kind of froze :D. Michael got the idea for the song after his mother asked if he could come up with something that had a "shuffling" kind of rhythm. I love the extended version because in that one, the older gentleman you see sitting on the ground later in the video is there at the beginning, telling Michael that he doesn't have to be like the other guys (who in this version are talking about how they don't think Michael knows anything about women) to get the girl; instead, he encourages him to "just be yourself." The leading lady in this is Tatiana Thumbtzen, who you can read more about in other comments :D. Fun Facts: The visuals for "The Way You Make Me Feel" and "Bad" were both up for a Best Choreography Award at the MTV Video Music Awards in 1988, but they lost to . . . Janet's "The Pleasure Principle" XD. There were no hard feelings, though (he was always so proud of her

The girl is Tatiana Thumbetz. After the video it was always speculated whether they are in a relationship. After she kissed Michael at a live concert, which was not allowed, she was fired, but not by Michael by his manager. Michael really liked her and she really really loved him. And I think they wanted to control Michael in some way.

He was unstoppable back in the 80's. He had 13 number ones on the BBH100 and amazing fans. Even tho he was very succesful, I believe that he didn't get what he really deserves. He and Prince were like the best pop artists that I've ever seen. I miss those times when music is music. 😢

The girl is Tatiana Thumbzthen and she ended up dating Michael after this video, she showed up on the set of "Leave Me Alone" and went on tour with him. She got fired by Michael's manager Frank Dileo for kissing him onstage.
