    We installed a DIY sun shade for our travel trailer and put it to the test when some severe storms came through South Carolina! See how we built it...and more importantly...see how it held up against a severe storm and 60 MPH winds 💨
    Thanks ‪@TinyShinyHome‬ for the inspiration for the triangular shade!

    Instead of 4 tiny screws holding the eye piece, please consider to drill through the pole and use a at least 8mm, best 12mm bold and fix it with a counter screw.

      That sounds industrial grade! Two years in the tiny screws are holding up… but if they ever fail we will absolutely make this upgrade. Thanks for the tips! 😎

    We put up a 26'x20' shade sail over the pool, with both high and low eyelets. The sail is lowered on the East side in the morning, and then that side goes up and the West side gets moved to lower eyelets. This has made a tremendous impact on the temperature of the pool!! It's been over 100 degrees every day since the sail went up, but the temperature of the pool is still going DOWN (at 70 deg. today)!! So, simply add another pole (or two) and put up MORE SAILS!! We used flag pulleys to make it easier to put up, take down, or adjust for sunshine. Enjoy!!

      So good to hear from you Debora. Next project entails another sail shade! You nailed it. Love the multiple eyelet suggestion. We’ve done that on one of our posts and it has been a great addition. Hope all is well with you. Enjoy the pool time! ❤️

    You could probably attach the sun shade on each Pole to a flagpole rope kind of setup. That way it'll be easier to take down alone if need be and it would also make it adjustable.

      That would be so convenient! We considered doing some sort of pulley system but could not find a compatible set up at our local box store. Thanks for the comment, suggestion, and for watching Robert!

    Nice video. I have been planning to make a shade for our 34' Vibe trailer here in the CA desert with blazing sun eating away at the decals etc. I plane to use 4x6 posts and sail shades on the side of the posts, maybe on top. I have to keep in mind the small slope of our backyard and all of the things you mentioned as well. If successful will build one for our Hulk (Dually F350 long-bed) that doesn't fit in our garage...

    Nice video! Does the sunshade decrease in a major way the effectiveness of your rooftop solar panels?

    • @ALittleBitUnhitched
      @ALittleBitUnhitched  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Jim! We have a 30Amp hookup on the homebase so we haven’t tested this yet. We may have to run an experiment and get back to you!

      @@ALittleBitUnhitched Thanks again for the video! I just wonder if shading half of a solar panel all day for months at a time effects the cells or panel.

    • @ALittleBitUnhitched
      @ALittleBitUnhitched  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@brambleview Now that’s a great question! Let me just think out loud here… So if our battery is constantly being charged though the converter via shore power then technically we wouldn’t have to be worried about “overworking” specific solar cells to compensate for the shaded ones. However, if we were not hooked up to shore power… this could potentially shorten a solar panels lifespan (and obviously reduce efficiency) due to this compensation.
      Please weigh in anybody if I have this wrong. I haven’t actually considered this before! 😎

    My like should be worth at least 10 pushups

      The Unhitched council has approved a one time exception for your request Brandon. Sam will do 10 pushups for your like… for old times sake. 😂
