As an experienced Master Tech I'll let you know that I never use a clutch alignment tool, and I do as you did and have random bolts which do the job (unless its a pull type in which case you need to compress the clutch before fitting so a tool is a must), but overall I am impressed with your work and think you should apply for an apprenticeship.
Thanks Mate glad it seems I somewhat know what I'm doing aha 😅 if I was to do it over I would have 100% chosen a more engineering career but I've already got a degree in chemistry 🧑🏼🔬 not that it helps much which changing clutches unfortunately 😂
Use screwdriver in the vent of disc stops it moving 👍and use a chisel in the gaps on the hub to spread it to help balljoints come out easier 👍👍well done a lot of people are to scared to try so let garages rip them off so good on you mate 👍
great video I've almost finished replacing the clutch on my mk6 fiesta just need to put the gearbox oil in and clutch fluid it's very similar but still hard
With a block of wood or rubber on your jack, jack up on the disc to just past horizontal. Takes the weight out of the spring pushing down and the ball joint comes out and goes in a lot easier.
I have the mountune one in mine. Cost about 110 quid about 8 years ago and it's been a nice little upgrade. Very noticeable when new but now I'm used to it it's just a nice feeling gearbox. Although seeing how I'm watching this video, I might too be experiencing a little bit of age on my car...
Just a point about refilling the trans, with these 5 speeds and the 6 speed in the ST - you’re not meant to completely fill the trans with oil till it overflows. Fluid level should be about 10mm from the top on level ground, believe it works out to about 1.8 litres. Spark Plug Steve did a video on this as lots of people get it wrong, doubt it makes a huge difference just worth a mention!
My only concern is that bolt you used for the lower ball joint. I doubt its the correct grade and the oem bolt has a thicker shank (non threaded part) thich is what keep the lower arm in place with that type of ball joint.
I drive a 2017 Fiesta DPS6. And work on it myself. You have to drive the DPS6 hard, or the finer workings, like forks/actuators, get coated in clutch dust, and stick, then bend, etc. Two LuK clutches. She stays loose, and working correctly, if you pretend to be Séb, Elfyn, or Ott, multiple times per week. 😀 Wait.... I'm not sure it looked like you replaced a 8+ hardness bolt with another 8+ hardness bolt in your suspension. Don't use soft stuff. It'll sheer off at high speed.
just wanted to ask you, i wanted to buy the steering wheel cover that you have but i was a bit skeptical about it cuz i dont think it provides much grip and the material are just bad, what do you think?
Its decent, I mean you get what you pay for I think it only cost me £3, did a video a while ago on it if you haven't seen it here's the link: th-cam.com/video/iCZ8LhskA6w/w-d-xo.html
Did you figure out why it was running rough after 1st start up? You said you waited a bit and then never mentioned it again. Was it the suspension or just that sleepy car feeling?
just that sleepy car feeling thankfully the car has been running fine since 😄 although there is an issue with the suspension keep your eyes peeled for a future video on that 👀
Brilliant. That's good then. I have loved binging your visa recently! Also don't edit out the mistakes you make. It makes it real and honestly gives people like me confidence to know it's not always going to go according to plan like this when you work in your car but nothing will explode (hopefully)
Thanks I'm glad you're liking them, and yeah I do my best to include when I mess up but don't like the videos being too long as I know people prefer shorter snappy form videos
Took a solid week 😅 mainly because I had to wait on tools to arrive etc but yeah took a lot longer than it should and most expensive tool was definitely the transmission jack 😭
As someone who just passed and knows so little about cars... this is incredible. Well done!!
Join along on my learning journey 😄👍 I still know very little 😅
Nice vid, a clutch replacement is definitely a hard job to do if you're not a mechanic so kudos to you.
aha thanks it was a struggle but we got there in the end

Im an Apprentice Mechanic and this is actually pretty impressive! 😂 well done mate
Thanks 😁👍
Fair play man, its hard work changing a clutch especially when you haven't done one before and haven't got any help either!
Thanks, thought about giving up more than once but happy I saw it through 😁
@@NAUTOG yea I bet man, you can do the flywheel and clutch on mine if you like, looks like you've got all the kit now 😁

Thanks for the tips hopefully I won't have to change the clutch again too soon 😅🤞
Hey dude, i got a 1.6l fiesta zetec.
My favourite mod was to cut the airbox off before the filter. Sounds even better than a pod filter imo. And free!
Yeah my current air intake could do with some more improvements 😅
great video I've almost finished replacing the clutch on my mk6 fiesta just need to put the gearbox oil in and clutch fluid it's very similar but still hard
Congrats mate yeah it's a tough job, but I learnt so much in the process I'm sure you did too 😄
Well done pal, not an easy job first time and on a driveway
Thanks, yeah there was so many times I wish I had a lift 😄

Thanks for the Tip I need all the help I can get 😅
you should put a short shifter in the car so there would be less throw in the gear changes
That would be an awesome project, now need to research how much a short shift costs 😅

Thanks for mentioning it I need all the help I can get 😅
Nice work! I’m pretty experienced, but I don’t think I’d be doing a clutch in my drive. Well done
Thanks, Yeah I don't think I'd go through that pain again well at least not on my own anyway 😂
Well done mate!! 👌
Thanks 😁👍
Well done 👏
Thank you 😁
I’ve never had any issues with fords that you don’t get with other cars. And mostly you can fix it yourself fairly easily.
Awesome bro, keep it up
Thanks will do 🫡

Well spotted, I found this out after filming this and have since changed it which you'll be able to see in a future video 😅👍
i will second that you need new ones from ford
If you lose track of which way around the clutch plate goes you can possibly Google the text on the new plate. Mine said gearbox side in German.
That's great to know thanks 😄
Well done big job you made look easy 😅
Aha yeah the video makes it seem a whole lot easier than it was
@@NAUTOG keep it up 👍
Well done m8!
Thank you 😁
difficult one but had to be done ahaha, if something happens to mine (hopefully not lmao) imma use your vid do to it
yeah glad its done now and lets hope you don't need to ay aha

Sounds like fun to drive 😄 and well spotted they've been changed for the correct bolts now you'll see that in a future video 😅
Doing this same project now. You have the torque numbers for the bolts?
did this over a year ago now so I've forgot them all 🥲 sorry
Next time you bleed the clutch make sure to bkeed before you revserve bleed and fill the actual tube that sits on the bleeder before hand
Thanks for the advice I need as much as I can get 😅
Great job, how long did it take you to do it all?
on and off 2 weeks 😅😂 had to keep waiting for specialist tools to arrive when I got stuck on a certain bit
fair play to you lad, I would have ended up with 10 spare bolts 🤣
It was honestly such a relief when I realised I only had one bolt left and I knew where it went 😂😅
da hora em gringo !! =D

thanks mate@@NAUTOG
Where did you get your transmission jack from?
it was the Sealey Tj150E Floor Transmission Jack from Amazon needed quick delivery so didn't shop around much tbh 😅
What’s your front bumper and grill?
Zunsport Grill and it's a Stock bumper just with a bit of black vinyl 😁👍
How much was it to skim the face of the flywheel in the machine shop?
From memory it was £80 but I could be wrong I paid cash so can't remember
@@NAUTOG thanks

and yeah I still have very limited knowledge on cars but I get stuck in and just learn by doing 😅
I need a cup of positivi-coffee.
did you torque it correctly
i followed the torque setting wherever I could 😁 and it hasn't fallen off or broken yet... 🤞
How long did it take you pal
Too long 😂😭
how long did this take you? made it look easy, how much you spend on tools, few trips to halfords i bet lol

the skill and exp you gained well worth it and the feeling of it working at the end is mint@@NAUTOG
