We made some amazing tasting alcohol when I was in. One of our batches was the best cup of booze I have had in my entire life. It depends who is making it, and if they know what they are doing or not
@ no, it was me, but only by the end. I started pretty bad, and but by the end I really learned what to put in and what to leave out. In the beginning I did what a lot of guys did: everything that has sugar in it. By the end, I was down to only orange flavors and a select amount of lemonheads for some bite. Plus some peels and various other little add-ins I learned to use. Its been a few years so I don’t remember it all
Oh I care about your kits and think they are priced well but I'm poor so the only way I can enjoy the hobby is by watching you. Thank you for that. I got into mead years ago when I was at a medieval recreation event and someone let me taste a 10 year old mead and a 20 year old mead. Ever since then I have been obsessed but finding it for sale is nearly impossible. I would love to make my own and your recipes would be so tasty I put your kits on top of my Christmas list but no takers sadly. Anyway keep it up I love your crazy stuff.
Literally just found 2 bottles at World Market the other day, first time ever seeing it sold near me outside of tasting @ a ren fair - about 30 USD each in both a black & white bottle
Yeah, Total Wine is where I go for mead. They have a bunch of flavors by Superstition Meadery, but that could just be in my location because it's made in AZ, and that's where I live. They are delicious. About $30-35 per bottle, though.
There are cheaper setups you can try. The plastic goldenhivemead starter kit costs $70, but jigger n' dash has a starter kit with a glass vessel for $50, but not as much equipment as the golden hive set up. It's enough to get started. Use pop lid bottles so you don't have to buy a corker. That's how I got around the cost.
I started with a wine jug I got from my bfs mom and went to a wine store and purchased a cork, airlock, sanitizer and yeast for less than 10 bucks. The honey I got from sams club for $12, and I got a pound of cherries for 5.99. It's still one of most favorite meads i made. You don't need the fancy kit if you really want to start and you're short on cash. And I'm not saying the kit isn't great but everyone has different financial situations.
Honestly alot of these tricks are really good to understand, not because its what I want to make but because it shows examples of things you can use when you dont have a specific thing. Like I never thought to use a sock to strain but it makes perfect sense
My mom does like a pineapple skin fermented drink. Take ripped pineapple skin, add water and and let it sit in a warm area ( like a green house) and let it ferment on it own for 3 days, add some sweetener and it's amazing!!!
Master Meadman, I've added tea leaves to a bottle I have aging. Should I be worried if my bottle is carbonated as a result? Is that normal or should I "burp" the bottle?
Can you make wine out of body armor, because I accidentally forgot half a bottle in my closet for a year and it reeks of alcohol in percentages that probably will make me blind
Im a stationary engineer for my county. We have a few boilers at the jail. Staff told us that inmates were drinking the covid hand sanitizer because it was made by like budwiser or something. They were trying to get rid of pallets of it lol.
Did they use bread crusts? Think it helps with the yeast, in the video he is just relying on the small amount of natural yeast in the fruit so that's why it takes longer
@ hen I was the one making it, I didn’t. Once or twice I threw in just a teeny bit of the soft part of bread, but any more and it screwed with the taste pretty bad, and I was all about making it taste really goos
You should age it and see if it gets better 😂. I've made some hooch out of grape Kool aid sugar and bread and all I kept thinking was this would be fire if I aged it.
Bottle it properly and hold onto it. If the SHTF, it could turn into a valuable barter and trade item. People will always trade for some alcohol. Thats what I did with my rather untasty meads. Stashed in a space labeled SHTF mead. They are alcohol but not quite the flavor I imagined. Now I'm sticking to my successful ferments for personal consumption.
Since you took the extra step for the prison wine novelty and used a sock as a filter instead of straight up using a syphon, did you take the other extra step using toilet water? 🤔 I highly doubt that.
Fuel for a small engine is wild 😂😂😂 it must really taste terrible!
Truly the epitome of "desperate times call for desperate measures"
Has anyone seen the trash bag prison distillation,

@@AFN2750 unless that brewer was consistently good, I'd say it was more luck than anything

@Jay00651 total wine and more is a big chain in my area at least they have a decent selection at a reasonable price.

I believe the taste is secondary when making hooch like that.
Its definitely made to get pissed not enjoy 😂
Dont worry man, people care
The right people definitely do care
I got one of your kits for Christmas and am hoping it'll be ready for the Super Bowl!
Honestly alot of these tricks are really good to understand, not because its what I want to make but because it shows examples of things you can use when you dont have a specific thing. Like I never thought to use a sock to strain but it makes perfect sense
Make sure it’s a clean sock though, not a prison sock you’ve been wearing for days🤮
Not the shaming merch plug lol
Not proud to say I’ve had to make this before but you did a great job! .. 😂
I only recently stumbled on your channel and don’t even know you had a kit for sale!!! TAKE MY MONEY
I dont care about the kits because I don't drink alcohol, but I love watching your head content
That’s Toilet Wine son! You show some respect. My cousin is the finest brewer in county. And yes, he’s there for meth.
Been wanting to buy your kits for awhile now do you have recipes with exact instructions?
He does!
He has an entire recipe book, and it comes with a digital copy that gets updated
"Cleaning solution" is pretty accurate.
Distill it either traditional or freeze. It might be illegal tho depending on your location so be mindful
I love the improvised "HOOCH" label lol. It fits the vibe.
I asked my husband to buy me one of your kits as a Christmas present. I’m so excited to start making mead 😁

Now we need a batch with the proper equipment to compare it with.
Lets all toast to the poor fellas in the penitentiary.
I will be buying a kit one of these days. Makin my own mead sounds amazing… now how would I get a good honey cider or make the mead sparkling?
Could you age it in some oak barrels to help it mellow.
I care about the kits you sell.
Havent heard of pruno in a minute. Cool stuff
That hooch is crazy.
Could it be that the tartaric acid from the grapes helped clear it?
Can you make wine out of body armor, because I accidentally forgot half a bottle in my closet for a year and it reeks of alcohol in percentages that probably will make me blind
Could be used as a cleaning solution 💀💀
I've seen a lot of hooch and was never made in this way!
Im a stationary engineer for my county. We have a few boilers at the jail. Staff told us that inmates were drinking the covid hand sanitizer because it was made by like budwiser or something. They were trying to get rid of pallets of it lol.
Thank you for getting down in the gutter with us. You are a gentleman and a scholar. Love the poor.
What about metanol contece is it safe?
It's not that I don't care about your mead kits. It's that I dont have a place or time to commit to making mead right now. Eventually though
How is this done without yeast?
Make a mead infinity bottle. A few ounces of every mead you make in one bottle. Be interesting to see how it evolves over time
Please try to distill it and run an engine on it. Though you might need to make more.
I made hooch as a pre-teen after some questionable info given to me by a family member. It was the best wine id had in my life at that time 😅
Call a friend and prank em with it
A little curious why it took a few weeks. When I was incarcerated, it was pretty much three days and ready to drink
Did they use bread crusts? Think it helps with the yeast, in the video he is just relying on the small amount of natural yeast in the fruit so that's why it takes longer
@ hen I was the one making it, I didn’t. Once or twice I threw in just a teeny bit of the soft part of bread, but any more and it screwed with the taste pretty bad, and I was all about making it taste really goos
if you go to prison. you'll be the guy everyone protects.
Hi how much for your kits
Distill it?
Bro should honey up at 1 mil subs
You should age it and see if it gets better 😂. I've made some hooch out of grape Kool aid sugar and bread and all I kept thinking was this would be fire if I aged it.
Try and add chopped tomatoes and honey if u ever do this again. No granulated sugar. It will kick in about 4/5 days.
How many kits you sell in 2024
id twist this through a bed sheet
My syphon in prison: 👁️ 👄 👁️
Sell it as a scorpion killer in small little 3 ounce bottles.
I got an old tattoo I don't want anymore, you think you could send me a bottle?
Can you make meat wine? Like in seinfeld the fermented chicken drink?
Your subscribers: “SHOW ME THE HOOCH!” 😂
Let it age 1 year and try it again!
Just use grape juice and yeast why they gotta do this shi 🤮
You got to use bread for the yeast if you didn't
No yeast?
Just the wild yeast on the berries and in the air
i care about your mead content❤
I had a 8 day migraine my first time I has some hooch
But this one sit for 6 to 8 months and see how it takes to a good aging
King cobra jfs collaboration?
day 4 gummy bear mead prison style
If you drink Old English this hooch can’t be that bad…right?
100 need to see you of cleaning with it
That's a clever way to say it didn't work and tastes awful, lol! But I guess if you're desperate and locked up...
Day 3 gummy bear mead prison style
Age it! I have had wines taste awful at 1 month (almost dumped) ok at 6 then insanely good at 12 (and wishing i kept more)
pepper+honey mead or something idk :)
Maybe it's the sock😮
King Cobra style
I bought the kit my guy
Put it in a still and make some liquor
Nice sock dude
Run it thru a prison still and make a ketchup bottle of liquor
What about the prime wine results?
Thats not true… i care about your fermentation kit but im just poor
Is this shit halal ?
They also use potato and tomato 🤮

Mad Dog 20/20, lol
*goes blind*
