Just so you two know, my system has 128GB of DDR5 RAM and I've seen LIVE allocate 25-30GBs of RAM. 4.0 will ask for a staggering 40-50GBs of RAM. @@laurentguyot3362 I don't think you are familiar with the Warden mate. The Warden has 4 more guns, way better ship HP, better shields, and a turret. As it turns out, we got ships like the Titan that are also starters, they do way more DPS than this ship while being able to do cargo more efficiently. And in the case of the Titan, in particular, even have room for vehicles. Even the 300i, a touring ship with a focus on luxury still makes this ship pale with its 3x S3 guns. This ship's sole weapon should be, at the very least, a s5. And that just to be remotely competitive. Even with the S5, it still is lagging behind. “He went off to the Nyx system” This just further leans on my point along with the “New Frontiers” blue jump point teaser that Nyx is coming before or at the same time as Pyro. I’ll eat my Polaris if it doesn’t!
The Intrepid is not a ship I would own. I feel it's biggest appearance factor is that the cockpit is not centered on the ship. I feel a lot of people would be ok with the looks if the cock pit wasn't also offset.
Cutty red also has beds, co pilot seat, toilet, multiple entries and a much older ship. I love the potential the Terrapin chasis has, i just think it's been wasted twice now. You could fit so much more in there
The Intrepid could either have a bespoke gun, that is large for it's size, or they could bring the body/wing edges forward along the cockpit. Either would make it look better.
I can’t wait for 4.0, having joined the game and its journey since 2021. I am I guess ‘new’ still compared to the 10 year veterans. Just seeing this game grow and also Squadron 42 being so close is making me more excited
I'm glad they updated the intrepid to a S4 gun. Looks a little better than before. I'm interested to see how many patches they are going to have to do for wave 1 of 4.0 before it goes on to wave 2.
The Intrepid for sure looks interesting. Especially the really fleshed out interior is nice with the weapons and suit locker. Seems like a decent starter ship for new player.
I do fee like the Intrepid missed the mark for the crusader style. It leaned a little to far into wanting to be asymmetric. It may grow on me but CIG doesn't have a track record of going back on the designs of their ships.
Buffing the Intrepid makes sense and it now looks like it might be worth having as a starter. Lets see how much it's worth though. The Avenger is $60 and that's a better ship. In my opinion, $50 is reasonable considering the Intrepid's lack of space and still limited armament.
I think if there was some more raidiators and flanges and sharp type business in that front area between the cockpit and the gun it would be 100% awesome
Terrapin medic is a really nice lil combat ambulance. Sturdy as heck small foot print to land just about anywhere and probably enough firepower to at least back people off so you can work.
I would love to see more narrative events, but with players on both sides, pushing objectives, and the narrative might change based on who completes more of their phase 1, 2, 3 ect
Glad they have listened to feed back and modified the intrepid. The original weapon looked ridiculous for the design of the ship, looks better now but not sure I would ever get it in game. What in the world is so complicated about one cabin on a ship when you have already designed the entire ship and people can test fly it…..? Does the gravity generator negate the gravity pulling down on the ship because otherwise all the power you can muster would be required to land some of these things without functioning aerodynamic and huge vtol engines? Will the Aurora ever have foldout wings since it looks like they do?
I think I'd be more interested in the intrepid if the cockpit was centered instead off center. It would be nice if CIG would give us 2 or 3 different options for the captains quarters on ships like the 890 or the Carrick or the Polaris.
I like the Intrepid. Its unusual yes, its asymmetrical but so is the Millennium falcon! Its Crusader DNA done differently and I think its a fine addition to their fleet.
Fun save stanton story for everyone here. I was doing the 'eliminate the operative" mission, and i eliminated my target by landing on him. Also for my previous comment about the intrepid: Everyone: "its Ugly." Me (before seeing it): Oh i'll love it then." Me (after seeing it): "Oh...hmmm....Its....Hmm...thanks, I hate it."
The Medical Terrapin should have an airlock. And because it'd basically be impossible to do this with the current layout of the hull (the entrance would need to be in the rear), the ship shouldn't have been made at all. The Intrepid would look better if it had some silhouette-establishing wings, akin to the truncated diamond shaped wings of the Ares. It could also be improved with some changes to the livery - exactly where the white/black/blue paint is placed. And on top of increasing the ship's single gun to an S5 (an S4 still leaves it as worse in every way than the Nomad, and lackluster compared to the Avenger Titan), I personally think they should bulk up the cowling that holds its single gun.
After trying the ePTU, I honestly do think 4.0 will be live before the end of the year. There are bugs but what build doesn't have those. You two are wonderful for the community and thank you both for all you do. Also for the AI model work, Look into the dedicated crypto cards, I use a few for model training here and they are great, they usually have the power levels lowered but work very well.
I am glad they put the s4 gun on the intrepid, but you can tell it was meant for a s5... even if that wasnt their intent, a size 5 would be balanced in size for the cockpit
The Intrepid looks like a Ares , with the MSR offset , and the nose of a spirit monstrosity. And i kinda love it. The cab should have been a bit bigger and the body a bit less blocky. Then it would be a perfect starter ship , fashion wise.
The Intrepid looks much better now that its got a slightly larger gun. Still a bit silly for just a size 4 but its silhouette makes much more sense vs one size 3. The concept art looked like a size 5. Being able to see the panelling of the white parts helps too. I like the ship overall but if its main benefits are ship component access and the suit locker then they should have released when that stuff mattered. As it stands its inferior to the avenger in almost every way, so I hope its cheaper.
I don't think the Intrepid is ugly, but it does need more greeblies and stuff. My biggest problem with it is at that size 8scu seems awfully small. Gotta be for supplies for exploration rather than cargo running I'd think.
I like the shape of the intrepid. I do think the roof is lacking detail compared to other crusader ships, but the brief may have been to make the ship look like it was designed/manufactured to target a lower end price bracket (at least that's the reasoning in my head canon). If the Cutter is $45 and the Titan is $60 I think $45 or $50 would be about right as its certainly closer to the cutter in its capabilities.
I've bought the starlancer max as an upgrade but planning to only apply after trialing the ship at the event. Lookign forwards to also tryign a hull C in a few trade loops as have considered saving up in game for one.
I was also noticing some unusual bottlenecking in the PTU as well. Just yesterday, I pulled up task manager to to see if I was hallucinating. Star Citizen was pulling 96-97% of my i7 and 20-22GB of RAM. I never overheated, but the game locked up and crashed a couple times when I got into a crowded area. Once I got into the regular Live servers, I was running at a normal 30% of my CPU and about 16GB of my RAM. Still might need another 32GB to be safe, but the PTU is really not optimized quite yet and stressing the system pretty hard.
I kinda like the Intrepid reminds me if the interceptor from Homeworld, id rather they bring 4.0 later and get it working well first and not push it out by the end of the year in an unplayable state, but am looking forward to exploring a new solar system hopefully they get the optimisation sorted 🤞
I'm hoping that the automated defense cannons lead to server blades sooner rather than later. I fly the MSR solo and would love to have the turrets automated.
The upgunning on the Intrepid is good but I'm still not sold on its looks. Saw some nice tweaking to it on reddit which made it look much nicer imo. Excited about IAE, there's so many spaceships nowadays!
Just had a thought on the Polaris Captin's Quarters. Maybe there is something in their that would be a spoiler for Squadron 42. Like a personal escape pod or a hidden weapons locker or a jefferies tube or something.
Oh, Mr. Bored, that optimism of current top tier pc parts could get stable 60+ fps in the early days of server meshing implementation is quite the height of hopium ;)
The intrepid getting a s4 brings it in line with where it should be. And it does make it tempting... But I'll have to see the final stats and how they line up against the Avenger.
A starter ship controversy, what's new, huh? Still, if the intrepid is sold for more than $60, then it's way too expensive for the utility value a starter provides for a few weeks time (as a future taxi service without medbed and platinum bay access).
CIG fix the bugs. I am tired of falling through the floors, My loot dissapearing, quatum travlel not working and a lot of other bugs. I'm not buying anything else until they fix the bugs. Thanks for all your work Board. I do appreciate your work.
I like the look of the terrapin medical but the fact that theres no bed to log out in and i believe they removed the weapon rack too which is silly to me. Why do they seem to have something against medical ships having beds or weapon racks lately?
Stations and capital ships are for the few big streamers orgs that already got many thousand of referrals. I wonder if smaller orgs will be able to survive once the game runns for longer. Big orgs will grow and the room for that growth comes from smaller orgs being disbanded. This will create a very "blend" experience for players at some point.
Given the price of the base version i dont see the medical Terrapin ending up in any price range i would accept, so that one is reserved for ingame purchasing. But there are still a few surprises on the list for the expo and that strange announcement at the end of last weeks ISC. Enough for me to look forward to
I would hope the Terrapin medical version is the same price as the Terrapin scanner version. They're both specialized ships and neither really quialifies to be a "base model". Kind of like the Zeus CL & ES. Those are also specialized variants with no base model and are the same price.
I've had good experience with the save stanton event so far, looking forward to part 3 in a few hours. I think it's fair to have "prizes" for completion because that's how games work, do a quest and get a prize for it, and the prizes are not probably going to be any more difficult to find than subscriber flair I would think.
I am hoping that the Intrepid allows us to warbond to it for LTI like they did that one time for Nomads. I have my pledge that has only 4 months insurance but has SQ42 so it would be good to get LTI on it.
The game hasn't been playable on my main machine for basically 2 years again. After some profiling I was finding the main problem was it was taking from 20gb to 24gb or RAM. I had 16 at the time. Sort of the first 15 minutes of game play would be 1-5 fps, then it would settle into about 15 to 20 fps. It was still using more than the 16gb or RAM, it just optimized what was sent to virtual memory better. I bought an extra 16gb of RAM and I'm now immediately start in the 30fps range. I upgraded my graphics card a little while later, but really need to put a modern CPU in to get anymore fps, I think. On the performance graphs it shows all cores maxing out with my GPU only getting up to 80%. I didn't get the new GPU for Star Citizen though. I bought it for AI graphics and video stuff. I wasn't expecting it, but Minecraft SUES PGTI also went from 5 fps to around 30 fps. I thought I was mostly CPU bound, but I guess not.
I think the Intrepid should get a size 5 AND have a special use, such as a smuggler or something. It has to be better than the Avengers, or much cheaper.
Fully behind you guys building a space station and building Zin a Bengal! 😃👍 Also... with respect to the designer of its exterior, the Intrepid is a total uggo on the outside. 👎🤮 The Terrapin doesn't math for me. Very expensive one-person ambulance. Nope. 👎🤑 Releasing a ship, like the Polaris with a locked room seems like an odd faux pas to me, but I guess I get it. 🤔 AI blades are fine. I'd much rather have NPC crew though. In time... 😏⏲ Great stuff, Bored n' Zin! 😉👍
The Intrepid looks like if RSI designed a ship and put it together using Crusader parts. I think that’s the biggest issue in terms of its exterior appearance. If it was rounded out some more and looked more like Crusader designed the ship it wouldn’t be as hideous. Outside of the outside, the ship isn’t too bad though. Nothing that makes me pick it over other comparable ships, but it’s not bad.
The look of the intrepid is growing on me especially now that the gun is a bit bigger. I wonder if they went blocky to avoid it looking too similar to the Titan.
4.0 has been equal parts excitement and frustration. It's a hot mess, but the few times I've made it out of the station, I've had a blast. Found an abandoned Polaris got to explore it, and take it fo a spin, which was pretty cool...
Intrepid somehow feels like on eof those ships NPC security might use to patrol in... More like universe filler than anything else. But that's fine. We need some universe filler. And of course, some people are gonna like it regardless, so all good CIG, keep em coming!
Intrepid should have unchangable / unswitchable balistic gatling like inferno but with more than 1k ammo up to 2 - 2,5k ammo co it could be deadly ;) S4 is ok but dedicated and unique weapon could be fixed by simple code, they barerly fit S4 and S5 requiers that Hole to be a bit larger if they ever think about bigger gun

Does the gravity generator negate the gravity pulling down on the ship because otherwise all the power you can muster would be required to land some of these things without functioning aerodynamic and huge vtol engines? Will the Aurora ever have foldout wings since it looks like they do?
I am excited for the IAE. Love me some CCU chaining. Poor Intrepid, I still love you. I also kind of wish the Terrapin Medic had two MedBeds
I would like it if the Liberator got a couple of the PDS to help with the blind spots the other turrets have.
Great to see people trying out Pyro! I tried the playground last year and it was a wonderful change of pace back then.
I've bought the starlancer max as an upgrade but planning to only apply after trialing the ship at the event. Lookign forwards to also tryign a hull C in a few trade loops as have considered saving up in game for one.
I love how smooth the servers are in 4.0 CIG just need to fix the crashes
I want to see what a crusader capital ship would look like
I was also noticing some unusual bottlenecking in the PTU as well. Still might need another 32GB to be safe, but the PTU is really not optimized quite yet and stressing the system pretty hard.
really loving the zeus, gonna upgrade to the MR version asap, been a backer since 2017, the game has come soooo far. excited for whats next.
Was only on a little bit this weekend. But what a substantial difference from a week before.
Thanks for the invitation to the pod cast
I kinda like the Intrepid reminds me if the interceptor from Homeworld, id rather they bring 4.0 later and get it working well first and not push it out by the end of the year in an unplayable state, but am looking forward to exploring a new solar system hopefully they get the optimisation sorted 🤞
The Intrepid is slightly growing on me. The interior is lovely. If it gets a S5 gun, I'll probably pick one up.
We have roughly a month to debug, optimize and improve stability of 4.0 before the holiday break.
I have faith in them
I'm hoping that the automated defense cannons lead to server blades sooner rather than later. I fly the MSR solo and would love to have the turrets automated.
Jax Mc Cleary I think he's called. We need our I.A.E. videos from CIG, so I hope they have some entertaining ones over the I.A.E. period.
The upgunning on the Intrepid is good but I'm still not sold on its looks. Saw some nice tweaking to it on reddit which made it look much nicer imo. Excited about IAE, there's so many spaceships nowadays!
The size 4 upgrade finally made it a decent starter ship, now to see what price they will sell it.
I am looking forward to all the new ships. I'm trying to hold judgement until I see them in person.
The intrepid getting a s4 brings it in line with where it should be. And it does make it tempting... But I'll have to see the final stats and how they line up against the Avenger.
Always happy to talk about spaceships
A starter ship controversy, what's new, huh?
Still, if the intrepid is sold for more than $60, then it's way too expensive for the utility value a starter provides for a few weeks time
(as a future taxi service without medbed and platinum bay access).
Has there been any mention as to what Tier the Polaris MedBed's are going to be?
CIG fix the bugs. I am tired of falling through the floors, My loot dissapearing, quatum travlel not working and a lot of other bugs. I'm not buying anything else until they fix the bugs. Thanks for all your work Board. I do appreciate your work.
I want to fly the Starlancer before I pull the trigger. It seems like a great team daily driver and gives off Firefly vibes.
Ai blades would be good for snub fighters so you could use them as drone fighters but only snubs so you cant just build a fleet
Definitely terrified both IAE with a Live Event and 4.0 itself could be 3.18 all over again.
I like the take that if the weapon is a specific part of the design, it needs to be a good weapon…
I'm curious how many star systems CIG is gonna have to add to make enough space to have total server meshing between all players
It has to be better than the Avengers, or much cheaper.
reddit made some great ideas for how to easily fix the intrepid would be cool if cig put up a community vote or something
Should the Intrepid gun be bumped up to size 5? Still feels a bit underwhelming. Also, a bigger gun would help balance out the look.
I had a really good experience jumping and in pyro yesterday. Is it buggy? Yes, yes it is but im happy i could TEST it.
o7
I'm excited for the Intrepid change. I love how it looks imo lol.
But I am also stoked for the Medipin.
The look of the intrepid is growing on me especially now that the gun is a bit bigger. I wonder if they went blocky to avoid it looking too similar to the Titan.
4.0 looks great, cant wait for some of these new planets.
What makes the Intrepid weird is the off center cockpit.
