    I like that Avasarala's security nickname is "Archangel."
    Amos destroys threats. He doesn't destroy indiscriminately, but he destroys threats without remorse and without rancor. As we see, he doesn't hold a grudge.

      But tbh Miller wasn't a threat to him or anyone else, that should've been clear the moment he could knock him down with one punch and manhandle him like a ragdoll. Him trying to kill Miller in that situation was massively excessive IMO.

      @@AngusSees I see your point but you have to take into consideration what Amos told him, " Stay down." For reasons that for us who know this story from beginning to end we understand Amos. You do not, but you will! As you see him as hot headed isn't how we do. He is calculated, indifferent, and wants nothing more than to get as quickly to the solution as fast as possible. If you haven't detected by now, Amos doesn't possess social skills like most. This is why he is drawn to Naomi. He trust her to be morally right.

  • @madux42

    Don't know if you realized it: When Holden and Naomi are outside on the hull of the Roci, she is pressing their helmets together. This way they can talk and understand each other without using the comms since the sound waves will travel through the helmets.

    Amos reactions to threats is the only logical way for you to stop a threat is to make it where that threat can never poss a threat again. It's utterly without emotion. He actually gave Miller more of a break then he would give most. He used a non lethal attack first, to show his superior position. But once someone continues to attack then that person as shown he is a determined threat. Thus you end his ability to ever harm you.

    In real life, scientists have determined that Pheobe was a captured body, and didn't form around Saturn, that it either formed in the outer solar system and was captured by saturn's gravity, or that it was from outside our system. The writers of the of the Expanse have latched onto the second. Pheobe is how the protomolecule got to our system, not the destination if that makes sense.

    Draper is Gunnery Sergeant Roberta Draper (also, Bobbie). 'Gunny' is shorthand for Gunnery Sergeant, her rank.

  • @xtifr
    @xtifr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    While the story is still book one, Sgt. Bobbie Draper is actually a character from book two, who is introduced early to make the transition a bit smoother. (Technically, Chrisjen Avasarala was also from book two, but _her_ role was expanded for the show because she's _such_ an important character.)

    Great reaction and analysis!
    I typically don't like the Introduction of new characters, but I was pleasantly surprised how well this show does this! As you will see!!
    Loved the bonding scene around the table of the Rocinante! It will mean so much later on!
    Chrisjen still playing the game! Her new spy is interesting!
    Can't wait for the next one!

    Mao didn't sacrifice Julie willingly. She had nothing to do with the project but caught wind of it and tried to hijack the Protomolecule sample in transit, then got caught. Her infection and death were also accidental and Mao now sees that loss as his personal sacrifice for the greater good. None of that makes him a good guy though 😅

    • @AngusSees
      @AngusSees  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I meant, he had no part in Julie's "sacrifice", he actually tried everything to get her back. But here he acts like he knew what was going to happen and accepted it willingly. So, him talking to Errinwright like that is a bit funny to me. But I guess he has a kind of a strange view on the world and the galaxy.

    Phoebe didn’t just show up in our solar system before people started traveling into space, it showed up long before people even existed - about two billion years ago.

    The scene on Mars was NOT a flashback scene. The Expanse doesn't use many flashbacks, and when they do, they are clearly labeled as such.

    Miller is patient, like he was patient with Kolkhari (the guy who spiked his partner) and found the opportunity to take him out. Did he really smooth things over with Amos or is he just being patient? He still owes Semi one. Yeah, I do know the answer to that.

    • @AngusSees

    27:01 No, it wasn't brought there (to Phoebe). What was said was that Phoebe was sent to our solar system, which ties in with our current understanding of it - scientists think that most probably Phoebe is indeed an extra-solar object.

    So you think, that Dresden is "not as bad as it seems"? Do you think he starts do make sense?
    Now, what do we do about it, guys?

    • @AngusSees
      @AngusSees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it is how I thought it was, then there is some kind of chance for that, but there's a reason why I put it in quotation marks. What he did or what he was a part of, is still evil, no matter why. But the one possibility is definitely "better" than the other.
      But I watched the second episode and now I can say that he definitely is as bad as I previously thought.

    • @MrRomulus23
      @MrRomulus23 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AngusSees So as you saw the 2nd episode, you know what Miller did? Right? Don't read further if I misunderstood that.
      Well my comment was a play on his motivation on what he did. He saw that people began to see reason in what Dresden did ... and in the end its just inuman crap no matter what the reason. Doing inhuman things (like killing 100000 people for an experiment) is never justified, no matter what reasons you think you have.
      And you sound a bit just like that and what Miller didn't want to witness.

    • @AngusSees
      @AngusSees  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrRomulus23 It's obviously never justified, was never going to say anything else. It's just a varying degree of evil. Just to explain my previous train of thought: Him killing off 100k people because him wanting to test how deadly this weapon is, is more evil than him killing those people because of some misguided thinking about making a vaccine.
      This doesn't mean that one thing is more justified than the other, because the result is the same, but it would change Dresden's character from an heartless asshole to an heartless idiot who thinks he's doing the right thing.
