Thank you for reacting to one of my all-time personal favourite psychological horror drama films which is a rarity of Martin Scorsese to direct given his high profile for Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino and recently Killers of the Flower Moon. It took me 3 times to watch the film to see the signs that Teddy Daniels/Andrew Laeddis (cool fictional character names) is not who we thought he is. At the end of the film, his last words “What could be much worse in this place: live as a monster or die as a good man” is an indicator that Laeddis opted out for the “lighthouse icepick” due to the fact he got to the point of no longer handling the trauma of killing his wife for killing his kids and not wanting to regress restarting the entire cutting-edge roleplay all over again. As much as I know that it was all a roleplay: I loved the scene of Dr Rachel Solando in the cave, got a feeling it’s real (yet Dr Cawley brushed it off as fake hallucinations in Laeddis’ mind) as I could see this play a role in the plot of a continuation miniseries that I call “Escape From Shutter Island”. No matter if he was thinking of something in the past that’s true or not - the US army liberation of Dachau (among the early Nazi campsites to appear in the Holocaust) resulted in the soldiers and surviving Holocaust prisoners participated in a revenge killing (execution squad-esque) on the camp guards except those who faced the music in the criminal courts. It did happen in our world. An investigation conducted by US army Lieutenant-colonel Joseph Whittaker was suppressed by US army general George Patton and a Bavaria governor to cover up what Laeddis described as “not warfare but murder [on both sides]”. I do believe Laeddis’ involvement in the Dachau liberation and revenge killings was true.

The financial situation driving the scheme. Jerry borrowed $320K from the car company using falsified paperwork. He wants his wealthy father-in-law to loan him $750K to buy 40 acres to develop a parking lot, but the stingy father-in-law won't do it. So, he gets an employee at his dealership to get some kidnappers to take his wife for ransom for a million dollars, to pay back the $320K loan (?) and buy the 40 acres. He plans to give the kidnappers $40K and keep the $960K for himself. The kidnappers go on a murderous spree and Jerry gets nothing.

I was 7 when this movie came out I was never creeped out. I was fascinated. I even found a rock that looked like the shard and always kept it with me. One day when I was reacting when Jen Jumps onto the dark crystal and drops the shard my rock broke. I was devastated but my dad helped me put it back together, so in a way I healed my own dark crystal. 😊

Of course Peter was there. He just ditched the glasses and got more hair (Or the original actor had a previous commitment and had to leave before filming finished and they replaced him with a different actor who looked nothing like him)

I enjoyed your review very much! "Fargo" is a classic and multiple Oscar winning movie. Frances McDormand deserved and did win the Best Actress Oscar. It also won Best Picture among other awards. Amazing all-around acting by all in the film, and incredible direction by the Cohen Brothers.

It goes to show you just how much you wouldn't expect such horrible crimes to happen in a remote little town in Minnesota. You might think that a pregnant police officer would be pulled from active duty until after the birth, because of the inherent danger risk that goes along with active duty. But that didn't happen with Marge, precisely because that kind of danger is so unexpected there.

I played the Security Guard outside the door leading into the vault area. The scene where the brothers couldn't find the key.

This is definitely a Kubrick masterpiece. But it also was created by Arthur C. Clarke. It would not be the same without him.

I'm about halfway through your reaction and you are so spot on to how I viewed this movie. Joaquin Phoenix SO deserved his Oscar win. Come on! He took a cartoon character that has been played many many many times and unraveled it and wrapped it up again in so many levels that I was blown away. I'm old school... Love Michael Keaton as Batman always!! And will Joaquin as Joker always!! You have such an eloquent way with your reaction but wish you'd shown more. This movie and his performance is so amazing. It speaks to where our world is and heading.... This movie is a masterpiece

I think the radiator young Arthur was tied to was polluted by ACE chemicals which is why Arthur has a laughing condition.

everytime, I watch Joker 2019 on my laptop, I follow it with The Batman 2022 as a way of making believe as if they are connected.

What a dumb show. It hurts my soul. Vader can use the force to start a fire, and drag kenobi through it and put it out. But when started by a blaster, unable to do so? Literally, nothing about this show makes sense. Its so disrespectful to the legacy characters as well. Ugh... this show I beg you to watch Andor or heck, Altered Carbon. Truly great shows.Andor is by far the best star war show ever made.

A few things might interest you. The opening and closing scenes were shot at the Rahway State Prison in New Jersey. When Clooney calls his truant officer you see the lights of the since demolished Trump Plaza casino in Atlantic City, NJ. The shot of him going up the escalator to meet Frank, that was from the Boardwalk into that casino. Trump also once owned The Taj Mahal casino which is now the Hard Rock and Trump Marina casino which is now the Golden Nugget. Yes the Donald once owned 3 casinos in AC. FYI since Steve Wynn left Las Vegas, all of the casinos are owned by Corporations. No One person owns any of them anymore.

This show is honestly in a whole different league from most contemporary programs on any network. I watched the 6th season already on Netflix. Don't have it anymore so I'm hoping they release it on Amazon prime before too long

Why has nobody else ever reacted to this movie? I don't understand why this movie gets zero interest compared to Fargo and The Big Lebowski.

I always prefer science fiction films and stories when they attempt to have credible science in them.

I saw this in 1968, in the format that Kubrick intended. I do not mind the 35 minutes of no words. Not at all. I recall my undergraduate experience in coursework in video composition. The first and strongest lesson in visual storytelling is the dictum, "Show, don't tell". Kubrick seems to have taken pains in most of his films to follow that advice.

If you are interested in a movie where Charlie Sheen was a real actor. My favorite war movie, Platoon. From around 1988. He acts great as both the lead and the narrator.

Congratulations. Do you really think that you would understand someone who has been manipulating us from the times when we just climbed off the tree, laid out breadcrumbs to Jupiter for us to find millions of years later, lets us go to Jupiter as proof of what has become of their manipulations and then ... as it seems ... it's time for the next step? We are dealing with something that has been far ahead of us at the beginning and a few million years that have passed seem to have changed that only very little. Anybody who encountered something like that would be confused and scared out of his wits. No exposition or explanations leaves the viewer exactly with the intended experience.

Watch the original film (1960). It has even bigger stars, The Rat Pack.

Maybe the best cosmic horror movie ever made. Pure Lovecraftian horror in its truest form. It is different because true cosmic horror has never been made with such perfect execution.
