I will say Session will definitely survive but not thrive. with no multiplayer coming I think that deals a huge blow to session's success. And I am not sure if the updates will even be enough for the game to thrive. In my opinion if the devs don't want to bring multiplayer then it needs to be like the greatest single player experience. I think Session has a great foundation and feels really good to play. I feel the connectivity between my controller and the skater more than I do in skater xl. I think session needed to kinda be like a skateboard gta. like have many things you could interact with, and have a bustling city or map with pedestrians and moving cars and stuff. Along with great missions you could do to really bring the game to life.
In preparation for skate. ive actually been getting back into Skate 3 and just feeling the difference between it Skate XL, Session, and even Skate 2. The Skate 3 modding community has also been making strides and been gaining more interest because of the new game which is really cool to see. I hope in 2025 all of them can do well so we can have choices, just like you mentioned.
At this point they could’ve just made skate 3 remastered and released it again, they could make so much money if they added a new story mode and maps and characters and such
Maybe I’m a little late to the party since I just got the Paris, Prague and the school dlc 2 weeks ago. But I really feel that since the last update the gameplay feels so awesome that I highly doubt I’ll stop playing session anytime soon
@Nghtwlkr85 it doesn't need mods but some would make the game insane.. in XL you can move your feet around the board for everything. Setting up, landing even hang ten and one foots for any grind or slide... If someone could mod in new animations to session then session would be insane.... Also the mod maps kinda suck for session. The only good ones are the ported xl maps...
@eternalrewind2190 idk i noticed a difference as well the game feels better than it did when I last played it a few months ago I even started a new character and started doing the missions again and getting tricks to count first try vs before I would have to do the trick several times and hope the game would finally count it to complete the mission I feel like the game Is a lot more consistent now
@eternalrewind2190 ig idk i dont have any issues playing it everything feels fine maybe you need to adjust your settings you can adjust the physics pop height, gravity, etc.
They also say they don’t drop another big town …. only water park is a really good one … mall is good , school suck so limited for lines … Paris is horrible they drop the wrong spot of Trocadéro … and I don’t know the country of the last one 😂 a simple place with DIY ….. 5 DLC 1 minor update …. That’s suck a little bit … we never have new hair or beard , bags … so poor ….
waiting this long for the goofy update is kinda insane, I eventually had to switch to reg even though I don't skate that in real life, been doing it so long that I might as well stick with it I think it'll survive no bother, the community mods and things will carry it, I've been playing for like 2 years on the vanilla maps with no DLC or mods and only just got the year 1 pack, for me it's like skating IRL, skating the same couple of spots absolutely crushing them with different lines each day
that’s wild to me that the game has been out for this long and this is still a thing - if I skated goofy irl i would consider this game simply unplayable. I did some research and according to some reddit threads I found, the reason is because Unreal Engine 4 doesn’t have “Animation mirroring” and they were waiting to add it into the game in once they switched to Unreal 5. But in a more recent thread, I found that they’ve apparently just given up on switching to Unreal 5 at all, because apparently the “investment required[…] is too high”, with no guarantee of a return. My question is Why even make “switch” animations in the first place if they couldn’t be mirrored, or at least turned off? Did they just assume everyone who skates is regular?
Hey Pigeon just want to take the time to say thank you for introducing me into session I used to be a real huge skate fan and being someone who has never skateboarded (would always have my boards stolen from me as a kid so I never kept trying to ride irl) this game put me off at first but after watching your vids I can throughly say I’m glad I took the time I purchase the game I’m currently only a week into the game and I’m trying to learn manual catch any tips for getting better control over your flick and scoop my timing is shit lol
I've been playing a lot of skate 2 and 3 in preparation for the new skate. I think Session and Skater XL might actually see an increase in players because of all the comparison videos that TH-camrs in this niche are gonna make.
Dude idk but I love the game . I make edits constantly, I will say there could be so much added obviously but for me this is the standard for a skate game on console . I would keep playing skater xl but it’s not as clean looking on console for edits as sessions for me imo
I think you hit the nail on the head mate when you said even trying to create new content for this game is now getting stale. With nothing new getting added for such a long time, it’s hard to find new ways to be creative in the game. As you say for the first two proper skateboarding in a decade to be released since skate 3 they fell massively short.
Out of all skate games ive ever played session is definitely my favorite hopefully this game can make a comeback but even if it doesn't ill definitely still play it its fun for what it is i really like the way they went about the controls you have more unique control of your character than in skate having to use the analog to turn and one stick to control both pop and flick just doesnt make sense to me anymore i think session got it right with the controls out of any skate game i see this game how i see actual skating you go have a skate session for a few hours then go home ( find a different game to play ) if they added multi-player that would definitely keep the game around longer skating is a community sport after all i fell out of skating irl because a lot of friends moved or dont have time to skate and same with myself skating just isnt as fun alone so it being single player definitely makes the game stale after a while
Creature should add a season pass, $15 for one or two new maps and a bunch of cosmetics each month, that would definitely keep me coming back and putting money into the game 😂
Skater XL is getting updates, but not enough for me to go back to it yet. 6 months later and I'm still playing Session like a maniac, so much so I'm very close to 1 million in-game currency. So I hope they add more items through the shop, any category. They've said no to a mod browser for maps, so I'd like them to change their mind on that. As for Skate, it's going to do well, but I don't believe enough for people to abandon the other games. I just want to play the game for the giant map/maps? and that's all.
I dont know if you have made a video like this before but maybe you could make a video reviewing your viewers session clips or a different idea is that you could ask your viewers for certain spots in each maps to skate and one final idea is that you should ask for combos and tricks to do from your viewers but the add a twist for example (kickflip into a nose grind and leave the rail with a 180 but you have to it with one hand) hope this helps love your vids bye now
I'm also testing pre=alpha of Skate. and as far as I'm not allowed to share any details for me those are totally different games. Skate. looks fun, especially with friends online, but I'll keep playing Session for skateboarding simulation. What I would love to see in Session (apart of new maps) would be more challenges or some sort of career mode. I was also wandering about adding grabs but I don't if it will ever possible with this type of game.
As a fan about session contribuing in skate comunity, session make a good job. But unfortely session still a sensation its a unfinished game and the resorcers for save the lifetime has been spent, is just a matter of time skate 4 take over.
Personally with the lack of updates and or how long they take to be released is a big kill I actually picked up skate 3 again the other day and the amount of tricks you can do including vert and transition skating is off the chain I understand skate is much older not much on the realistic side but still nun of the less I believe session came into a genre that’s is hard to retreat the love and fun skate was able to create
Let's be honest, with the current amount of support they've been adding to the game, I've only seen the number of players dwindle. And maybe that's what a sim game is supposed to act, it's a niche game and won't appeal to the same playerbase that EA Skate does, while it's still skateboarding, only people that really is into the nerdy stuff in skateboarding and pc alike will delve into these games and that you can really see that it frequently caps the online players at 300 hundred simultaneously, it's a very niche game. And something they've gotta do is fix their respective gameplay, XL and Session, because this game survives on it's gameplay, it's a sim game ffs, and with everything fixed, all they gotta do is launch a couple maps every now and then, even if it's paid, the dlc's being well made and as they've done at the beggining, with crazy good maps, they will keep profiting off the dlc's and maintain the modders interested at the game, as they'll add even more content to it, but well... the devs aren't interested in that tho.
Depends on what the new Skate (4) game offers, how moddable it is and what the playability is like, imo that one game that has the potential to kill off session but it's a wait and see

I would definitely play if I could mod the game for a flick it system because the 2 foot controls are confusing to me like Im loving both games like skate cartoonish stuff and online but the realism of session is why I play it
there's allot of content you could still make for session if you'd really want to, for example stuff like underrated spots, etc. Also bro fuck the customisation at this point, we want a finished game, we want street skating to work pretty flawless (wich for like 90 percent does) But the vert and pool/bowl skating is SOOOOO bad) allowing us to shred in pools is gonna feel like a totally new game TBH
i love Session but it is genuinly dead now in the longterm. cant sustain a dev team on mediocre DLC drops every couple months that a few people of an already small playerbase buy. fix the game, get content out and increase the playerbase, make an actual good and finished game...
Session will definitely survive more years ... in my opinion devs work as expected. Now we are waiting for the repaired goofy stance...the only disappointment i've had with this game so far is: no grabs.. otherwise is great i play it every evening after real skating :)
i wonder if the devs behind Session and Skater XL are both just waiting to see if skate by EA is a flop OR if Skate coming out helps both those games by bringing more people into the skate game community. Either could help them. Then would be the time to drop new content and put time into PR.
yeah, as much as easy day has dropped the ball, they're actually picking up the rate at which they put in new maps and they're still not charging for them. seems like a better formula to keep things fresh than asking people to shell out money every time there's new content, feel like people are gonna hit a wall where they go "do i really wanna spend any more money on this game?"
The fact skate 4 will be free i feel the micro transactions wouldnt be that big a deal if it sticks to clothing stuff. Probably similar to riders republic where some as in game currency and some are real money
Yeah like its not gonna be required for locations or tricks maybe variations but mostly cosmetics the devs dont sound like they are gonna pump microtransactions at you and you can just not spend money like its not required
I'm actually kind of suspicious that EA's Skate4 team is poaching talent or tech or something. When it was just Easy Day ignoring their community you could chalk it up to, okay this developer didn't actually have the passion the community thought they did. But Session had much more humble beginnings and has made bigger strides than SkaterXL could have dreamed of. I was really excited believing that Creature WAS different than Easy Day. They were proving it with more meaningful maps in 6 months than I ever got from SXL. But then...they just abandoned their community as well? I don't buy it. Something's up.
Bro, I was getting this error WAY before the mod. I don't know what's going on. I did a complete re-install after deleting the mods. I then re-installed the mods a couple weeks ago. They still don't work.
The number one issue I've had with Session's developers is the complete lack of two-way communication. It's a very odd feeling to be in a community of players in which the game you all collectively enjoy is made by a team who doesn't even tell you what is occurring in the development cycle. Every dev is under these super odd NDAs, and they actually aren't working on the game that much at all, because for a ton of time, the studio has been working on the other game. The thing is, there are games in which there is a single developer who is able to release more updates/content than this studio can. Over the course of an entire year, they've done almost nothing but a couple of maps.... that's it. Respectfully, it's kind of bizarre to see people continue to rehash the same comments consistently... Why support and show love to a game in which the literal developers won't even give that back? Session is literally just a one-way community at this point, and the developers won't tell us anything that's going on, because honestly...... there just isn't anything major that's going to happen to this game. The studio does deserve all the criticism and shit they've gotten. There is no point in developing a game if you won't even clearly communicate with the player base to keep them informed, playing, and purchasing the material. @JLNightmare would you like to give us some updates on the game, besides the NDA-approved blanket message?
@pigeonthief I'm new to modding session and wanted to ask if you have the illusory pro because when i download the free one it doesn't seem to work as my game just doesn't start when the pop up message says corrupted file, it doesn't allow me to click the ok button as my cursor turns into an hourglass which i think means its freezing. pls get back to me ive had no luck anywhere to fix this issue and just want to get mods onto session.
As much as I hate to say it, I think session is gonna die off. After the way the dropped the ball on multiple different occasions, the major disconnect between the devs and their fans. I still will be watching the channel and am exited for the content around Skate. but I am not playing session anymore, I enjoyed the game for years but just getting bored of it.
I think no matter how egregious the micro transactions are, Skate 4's going to have a dedicated playerbase. Think about how giant Skate 3 has been and is currently, and how many eyes are going to be on 4. I almost guarantee the game's going to flow and feel better than Session because Skate 3 arguably already does. And while yes, that's just my personal preference, we'd all be lying to ourselves if we said Session doesn't have issues. Animations, Vert, the general handling of the community. I'm positive both games will prosper in one way or another, and I'm not trying to say Skate's going to kill Session. Session's always going to have those die hard fans who love the control scheme, the realism, the mods or the customization. But for everyone else, ESPECIALLY non skaters, the feel of Skate 4's gameplay is going to make Session obsolete for them. Why spend money on a buggy, harder to learn game that doesn't get free updates when you can play a free to play game made by a triple A studio that's more than likely going to feel better to most people. Honestly, it feels like an unfair fight. But hey, I've been stabbed in the back by pre-release footage before, so I can't be 100% certain.

Skate 4 looks like a micro transaction game thats gonna be a trash game. Its gonna be Fortnite of Skateboarding. Very cartoonish and boring after an hour.

Skate Franchise was always mid and we only had Tony Hawk to compare it to. Now we have Session and Skater XL that actually has better controls, and feels like Skateboarding should feel. It's not cartoonish, and you actually have to put real effort into learning how to catch and time the board, Rather than like Skate where you aren't actually catching the board. Skate 4 is gonna be a flop and in 3 years EA will shut down the servers to the game and the game is unplayable in 3 years.

Session toxic community whack... session will always be an unfinished street skate sim. Which is OK I still like it but they have to do better at fixing the game. Also multiplayer being able to play with friends makes it the winner for me. And its free to play. It's definitely playable BTW I've played on the test servers and it feels good.
Unfortunately the more I play session the quicker it gets turned off, I try to keep the game fun by trying to do illegal tricks like slappy and wall rides and making diy spots, unfortunately nothing can make me ignore the lazy ness of the game, physics tricks spots mission all of it just bugs me the wrong way at this point, rlly hope it gets better
I just can’t back Creature Studios anymore. They’ve shown themselves to no longer be the company we all fell in love with during early access. Paris DLC was super lazy and showed a huge drop in quality. The School dlc was better but it was tied to paid hair with hats. Then they nuked the discord and got super ban happy on all social medias. Donovan has proven himself to not be a trustworthy person and one of the worst community managers the industry has ever seen.
Regardless of what happens, I love this game and will continue to play. Give me the Philly map and I’m sold.

The last update didn't do anything other then fix bounce glitch and Manny roll off. It's still the same stuff game with crappy animations

you should try the loaded brooklyn banks in the map layouts in the experimental settings it just add a few different things in the back of there
There's also a Shredders 2 coming by the way, a successor to the snowboard sim. It's unclear if that happens in 2025 but i surely hope so.

there's allot of content you could still make for session if you'd really want to, for example stuff like underrated spots, etc.
Also bro fuck the customisation at this point, we want a finished game, we want street skating to work pretty flawless (wich for like 90 percent does) But the vert and pool/bowl skating is SOOOOO bad) allowing us to shred in pools is gonna feel like a totally new game TBH

i love Session but it is genuinly dead now in the longterm. cant sustain a dev team on mediocre DLC drops every couple months that a few people of an already small playerbase buy. fix the game, get content out and increase the playerbase, make an actual good and finished game...
They definitely have new competition coming, for the casuals skate 4 is coming out, fake skate is making a game, theres the untitled skate game

Session will definitely survive more years ... in my opinion devs work as expected. Now we are waiting for the repaired goofy stance...the only disappointment i've had with this game so far is: no grabs.. otherwise is great i play it every evening after real skating :)
i wonder if the devs behind Session and Skater XL are both just waiting to see if skate by EA is a flop OR if Skate coming out helps both those games by bringing more people into the skate game community. Either could help them. Then would be the time to drop new content and put time into PR.
yeah, as much as easy day has dropped the ball, they're actually picking up the rate at which they put in new maps and they're still not charging for them. seems like a better formula to keep things fresh than asking people to shell out money every time there's new content, feel like people are gonna hit a wall where they go "do i really wanna spend any more money on this game?"

The fact skate 4 will be free i feel the micro transactions wouldnt be that big a deal if it sticks to clothing stuff. Probably similar to riders republic where some as in game currency and some are real money
Yeah like its not gonna be required for locations or tricks maybe variations but mostly cosmetics the devs dont sound like they are gonna pump microtransactions at you and you can just not spend money like its not required

I'm actually kind of suspicious that EA's Skate4 team is poaching talent or tech or something. When it was just Easy Day ignoring their community you could chalk it up to, okay this developer didn't actually have the passion the community thought they did. But Session had much more humble beginnings and has made bigger strides than SkaterXL could have dreamed of. I was really excited believing that Creature WAS different than Easy Day. They were proving it with more meaningful maps in 6 months than I ever got from SXL.
But then...they just abandoned their community as well? I don't buy it. Something's up.
Bro, I was getting this error WAY before the mod. I don't know what's going on. I did a complete re-install after deleting the mods. I then re-installed the mods a couple weeks ago. They still don't work.
The number one issue I've had with Session's developers is the complete lack of two-way communication. It's a very odd feeling to be in a community of players in which the game you all collectively enjoy is made by a team who doesn't even tell you what is occurring in the development cycle. Every dev is under these super odd NDAs, and they actually aren't working on the game that much at all, because for a ton of time, the studio has been working on the other game.
The thing is, there are games in which there is a single developer who is able to release more updates/content than this studio can. Over the course of an entire year, they've done almost nothing but a couple of maps.... that's it.
Respectfully, it's kind of bizarre to see people continue to rehash the same comments consistently... Why support and show love to a game in which the literal developers won't even give that back? Session is literally just a one-way community at this point, and the developers won't tell us anything that's going on, because honestly...... there just isn't anything major that's going to happen to this game. The studio does deserve all the criticism and shit they've gotten. There is no point in developing a game if you won't even clearly communicate with the player base to keep them informed, playing, and purchasing the material.

@pigeonthief I'm new to modding session and wanted to ask if you have the illusory pro because when i download the free one it doesn't seem to work as my game just doesn't start when the pop up message says corrupted file, it doesn't
allow me to click the ok button as my cursor turns into an hourglass which i think means its freezing. pls get back to me ive had no luck anywhere to fix this issue and just want to get mods onto session.
As much as I hate to say it, I think session is gonna die off. After the way the dropped the ball on multiple different occasions, the major disconnect between the devs and their fans. Just a couple things that will pave the way for Skate 4 to come in and pull people away. Anyways glad you had a good Christmas bro! Take it easy! ✌🏻

I still will be watching the channel and am exited for the content around Skate. but I am not playing session anymore, I enjoyed the game for years but just getting bored of it.
I've been playing Skate 4 on PS5 and it's not as good as Session imo.
How much would someone bet they'll include the controls from the other games in skate. That would be a missed opportunity i think.

I think no matter how egregious the micro transactions are, Skate 4's going to have a dedicated playerbase. Think about how giant Skate 3 has been and is currently, and how many eyes are going to be on 4. I almost guarantee the game's going to flow and feel better than Session because Skate 3 arguably already does. And while yes, that's just my personal preference, we'd all be lying to ourselves if we said Session doesn't have issues. Animations, Vert, the general handling of the community. I'm positive both games will prosper in one way or another, and I'm not trying to say Skate's going to kill Session. Session's always going to have those die hard fans who love the control scheme, the realism, the mods or the customization. But for everyone else, ESPECIALLY non skaters, the feel of Skate 4's gameplay is going to make Session obsolete for them. Why spend money on a buggy, harder to learn game that doesn't get free updates when you can play a free to play game made by a triple A studio that's more than likely going to feel better to most people. Honestly, it feels like an unfair fight. But hey, I've been stabbed in the back by pre-release footage before, so I can't be 100% certain.

Not when we can’t even get an actual skatepark. On console we get 1 dlc per year it’s pathetic. If I owned the company and didn’t care about updates (cause they don’t) I’d have so many more maps THAT HAVE SKATE PARKS! WHY CANT WE GET MORE SKATEPARKS?!!!
i would say the game is already dead , no1 makes content for it really and no1 streams it , and they dont have a online mode which is the biggest reason its dead . hopefully skate isnt to arcade like . otherwise thats games going to die as well , i dont think alot of ppl want to go back to non realistic floaty skate games , they just want a realistic skate game thats good and has online lol

We need either multiplayer or more maps, better gameplay, new features and more missions. But in my opinion and in the opinion of almost everybody, multiplayer is the only way.

Skate 4 looks like a micro transaction game thats gonna be a trash game. Its gonna be Fortnite of Skateboarding. Very cartoonish and boring after an hour.

@@iDrive100 No its not, Session exist and by far the greatest skateboarding game to exist. You're lying to yourself if you think anything EA sports makes is good. Skate Franchise was always mid and we only had Tony Hawk to compare it to.
Now we have Session and Skater XL that actually has better controls, and feels like Skateboarding should feel. It's not cartoonish, and you actually have to put real effort into learning how to catch and time the board, Rather than like Skate where you aren't actually catching the board.
Skate 4 is gonna be a flop and in 3 years EA will shut down the servers to the game and the game is unplayable in 3 years.

Session toxic community whack... session will always be an unfinished street skate sim. Which is OK I still like it but they have to do better at fixing the game. Also multiplayer being able to play with friends makes it the winner for me. And its free to play. It's definitely playable BTW I've played on the test servers and it feels good.

Unfortunately the more I play session the quicker it gets turned off, I try to keep the game fun by trying to do illegal tricks like slappy and wall rides and making diy spots, unfortunately nothing can make me ignore the lazy ness of the game, physics tricks spots mission all of it just bugs me the wrong way at this point, rlly hope it gets better

I just can’t back Creature Studios anymore. They’ve shown themselves to no longer be the company we all fell in love with during early access. Paris DLC was super lazy and showed a huge drop in quality. The School dlc was better but it was tied to paid hair with hats. Then they nuked the discord and got super ban happy on all social medias. Donovan has proven himself to not be a trustworthy person and one of the worst community managers the industry has ever seen.
