Wow, I thought it was a Hollywood movie. Thailand may not be superior to other countries in terms of the beauty of its tourist attractions. But it is better than other countries because it has 'Thai people' who are smiling and friendly. Land of smiles.

Bangkok is certainly an experience. I can take it in small doses, much as I used to work in London, but after a while there is only so much hustle and bustle I can stand.
I agree that the Street Food culture in Thailand is exceptional and I don't know of any other place in the world that comes close.
It's interesting and quite telling of the Thai culture, that the food vendors, often each specialise in one type of food, and do it well. It means they aren't really competing against each other, all cooking the same thing, whereas in my home town here in the UK (takeouts not street food granted), there must be a dozen or so pizza places, a dozen Chinese restaurants, a dozen Kebab/burger shops, and so many of the menus are the same, and the food... if you want something decent, you really do have to look hard and know what to order. It's quite a lottery.
In contrast, I can't remember having a bad experience from a Thai street food vendor.
Quick story, one a few of my trips to Phuket I met the same small group of Americans from Aspen, two of which actually owned several restaurants and so knew their stuff. One night I took a few of them to my favourite food place, which was down a small alley just off Bangla Rd, lined with street food vendors, each with their own seating and tables. The menu was extensive. Hundreds of dishes, many different styles and of course the ubiquitous display of seafood on display on ice, oysters, red snapper, giant prawns, lobster and so on. Having placed out order, one of them popped over to where the chef was preparing the order. He came back and was absolutely astounded saying that everything was being prepped from scratch, nothing pre made, and was blown away. They are very skilled and the food is always top notch.
Btw in terms of Thailand and sex tourism, it really is mainly constrained within a few of the really tourist areas, such as Soi Cowboy, Nana, in Bangkok, and places like Pattaya, and Patong, but in reality the rest of the country is very different. Also, and this makes perfect sense when you consider it, that the main consumers of sex are Thais themselves.
I applaud your openness in not shying away from the topic and even going to see a show. Things are very different than they used to be 10-15 years ago. The police did crack down significantly on places like Nana. Not to say that it doesn't still go on, but it is significantly reduced.

I think you’re painting a bit of a romantic image of Thailand. As for street food, the whole of SE Asia, be it Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, the whole region is streetfood paradise. Bangkok may have the name, as it is the most visited city in the world, but you’ll find it everywhere in SE Asia. And the sex tourism hasn’t diminished at all. It’s everywhere, like you state especially in the mentioned areas, and it’s a thriving business like always and forever. It’s just a fact and part of life in Bangkok’s tourism.

It's great to hear about your experiences and observations in Thailand, particularly regarding its street food culture, which is indeed exceptional and unique. The specialization of food vendors in Thailand, each excelling in a specific type of cuisine, is a testament to the diversity and quality of the offerings. This approach ensures that you get a consistently high-quality meal regardless of where you choose to eat, making it a much different experience from the more competitive and often repetitive restaurant scene in the UK.
Your story about taking Americans to your favorite food place in Phuket highlights the dedication and skill of Thai street food vendors. The fact that they prepare everything from scratch is a testament to their commitment to providing excellent, fresh, and delicious food.
You also mentioned the issue of sex tourism in certain tourist areas in Thailand, like Bangkok, Pattaya, and Patong, and the changes that have occurred over the years with police crackdowns and reduced activity. It's important to acknowledge that the situation in Thailand varies widely, and not all areas are affected in the same way. Your insight into the broader context is valuable.
Overall, it's clear that you've had a diverse and enriching experience in Thailand, appreciating both its culinary delights and acknowledging the complexities of certain aspects of its tourism industry. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experiences.

You did a great job of introducing Bangkok and all it has to offer. I have lived here for 15 years now and there is always something new or changing to see. You talked about the sex scene with seemingly no agenda or bias so when I say it was well done, I am not being condescending. Most modern people of your age produce terrible click-bait material and your disarming presentation style, photography and editing are clearly the result of hard work and professionalism. I wish you all the views you deserve for this excellent video.

Wat Pho is an old temple south of the Grand Palace. It is also known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha rebuilt by King Rama III in 1832. The King also decreed that traditional Thai massage and traditional medicine be inscribed on stone tablets to disseminate the knowledge to the general public. The famous Thai spa and massage are believed to originate from such stone inscription. King Rama III was also known as Merchant Prince because when he was still a prince he conducted trade with China and asked the ship captain to bring back stone sculptures such as Chinese deities, mythical beasts as stabilizing balance in the ship's belly. These stone sculptures are now commonly seen at Wat Pho, Wat Arun and the Grand Palace. When President Obama had only one day to tour a Thai temple, US Embassy recommended this temple due to its unique architecture, history and beautiful reclining Buddha.
Note all three famous temples: Wat Phra Kaew in the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun, there are two Yaksa Guardians (Hindu/Buddhist giant deity) at the entrance of the temple. Wat Pho's reclining Buddha is not the largest in Thailand. It's the largest in Bangkok or you can say it's the largest enclosed reclining Buddha in Thailand. There are larger reclining Buddhas but they are outdoor, facing elements.

You're shocked by the openness of the "sex trade", but I guess you haven't seen the videos of Seattle, Portland, LA and so many other American cities where block after block (often MILES) of hookers line the streets. It's far more common than you know in the west, you just haven't seen it. At least in Thailand it's all contained in a far smaller area.

Exactly. Them western tourists usually don’t talk about their own vices. Some are honest enough, but not many.

Great job, guys! Super cinematic and beautiful video.
We never managed to go to a ping pong show while we were there. How was it?! Hahaha.
We went to a pretty cool ladyboy show in a proper theatre when we were there! Fun times. 😂

I agree, The night time street food eaten on plastic tables and stools is magic. And a beer from the ice box.

Another great vid 👍 If the hustle & bustle of Bangkok gets too much, check out Lumpini Park. Right near Silom MRT. Huge, peaceful garden with lakes. Can hardly see a single building despite being in the middle of BKK, & it's FULL of dragons! Up to 5 or 6 foot long water monitors

I’ve never been to that nightlife area. But tourists love to go there. It seems like that street was created for tourists

Yes, tuk tuk name comes from its exhaust sound in the old days. Thailand's famous tuk tuk was based on Japanese micro pickup equipped with 2-stroke engine with less than 500cc. It was modified by Thai mechanics to be a utility vehicle, cheap to run, cheap to maintain. In the old days, you could see vendors go to wet market and bought a lot of ingredients and piled them into tuk tuk to their vending site to set up a food stall. Since it was equipped with 2 engines, the exhaust sounds like "tuk tuk". Over the years, the engine is now 4-stroke and run on a small LPG gas tank instead of petrol due to 3 times cheaper price of LPG. So modern tuk tuk no longer sounds like "tuk tuk", but the name sticks. There are even some electric tuk tuks, but still few in number.
