Many have length, few gave the wedge game and flat stick dialed in. Imagine watching Kyle Berkshire play nine holes at Carnoustie and having more interest in his 60 degree wedge shots than his drives. Good stuff.
This looked quite under control for such a tricky course, your lob wedge was on fire! For a future video I'd love to see you go team up with Bryson for his break 50 series.
Hey Kyle! i just want to know if you are going to attempt the world record again, I remember you said you would in spring or summer. no pressure, just curious if you are going to attempt again! you are amazing and keep up the good work!
I can't remember what you posted for the front 9, but this was some impressively solid golf.... especially for a Murican who is *not* used to the links!! ;) Interesting to hear you say the mental side of things is one of the trickier aspects of stitching together a good round. I've been under the impression that you're one of the least flappable dudes in YooToob golf for years. Maybe you've just got a staunch poker face?! Regardless, I'm always impressed with anyone willing to put in multiple hours every day to achieve a goal, & I reckon you're *quite* capable of soon doing well in a couple of mini tour comps, from where you can then use your name to squeeze out a couple of Korn Ferry sponsor exemptions when folk can see you're taking it seriously.... think plenty of positive thoughts & you never know brother. ;) Anyhoo, all the best from that random subscriber who lives 10 miles from Carnoustie.
Really like the long-form stuff, but understand how you have little time for it. Good luck with your game! Keep us posted here now and then (perhaps a video of one of your 4-5 hour practice days?). 🙂
That drive on 18....wowza. Kudos to your playing group, although I would have been standing behind you in awe on the places you hit placed your driver. Hard to explain to my Texas golfing friends how "serrated" the grass is there especially around the greens in order to hit a lob wedge. Big skills, and answer to prayer, to hit that club around those greens if you are not used to it. Nooice.
Carnoustie is one of a handful of courses Ive played that can play like a cupcake and a monster in the same weekend. Depending on rain, rough conditions, and ESPECIALLY wind, day to day can be totally different. Ocean Course at Kiawah is also this way.
Great short game shots, considering how high you hit it when the conventional wisdom is to play it on the ground. Also, I think the term pot bunker is specifically reserved for the small, round, high-faced bunkers not the regular bunkers. Nice playing!
I have had the pleasure of playing the championship course at Carnoustie - the back nine is golf Mecca 🕋- fair tough and very changeable on the wind ! And I have birdies on 17 and 18 what a place
Great playing on a tough day. Quite something seeing the mighty Kyle with 200+ on holes less than 500. As soon as I saw Van de Velde take driver, I thought that he had lost his mind, a thought echoed by Curtis Strange in the telecast. It was obvious that he could have hit 7-iron, Wedge Wedge and won by 2 quite easily. However, the absolute insanity was 2-iron after the drive at which point, he had a look as though he was a rudderless ship. He got lucky on the 2nd and once again could have gone left to the fairway on his 3rd and avoided the risky shot over the burn from deep thickish rough, and then been down most likely in 3 more for a 6 and won by 1. So the whole thing was a disaster from the tee box. I always thought that he was a victim of his almost miraculously good play in the rest of the tournament. He seemed to be playing 18 like someone that felt the golf gods had already handed him the tournament and it cost him dearly, He was like a man that through good practices, patience and some luck manages to build a portfolio of 1 million in stocks and bonds. When his friends ask him what he's going to do to celebrate his good fortune, he says that he thinks he'll go to Vegas and "shoot the moon". Cheers.
It is great fun and thrill to follow your journey on the green fields... Is your goal to go on tour some day? I do root for you Kyle the day you tee off in a tour event at the highest level
1975, 23rd hole Queanbeyan Club Championship, par 4 dogleg right, drive the greenside bunker then 13 shots later I putt out backwards. I take my sandwedge and chip over the bunker and get up and down for 18. I commented "there goes the championship..." One of my group said, "forget it, there's still 2 and a half rounds to go." I finished with 88 that day, and after 72 holes I finished 2 shots off the Junior Championship and lost the Club Championship by 6 shots. I always found it easy to separate each shot from the rest.
Ignore the wind (where possible), did you find much of a difference in carry distance compared to US courses? I play in windy conditions, similar to up in Scotland, and always wondered how much of a difference that made. I've always found that during warm summers with little wind, my carry distance would be significantly different compared to spring/autumn/winter conditions
It is very different golf there. Your swing, what works in your home do not work there. Too much spin an so to high. Allso approach shots agains vind must even do with putter, no wedges. Stinger shots+putter! Thanks, good video🤝
Should have been 3 under.your right pros have the past mental toughness. Keep gaining mental fitness."knowledge is a powerful tool but without wisdom it's not Hing"rosevelt said.i think he played golf lol
Disagree. Given that he's already setting up a camera himself on every shot, carrying around a TrackMan™ on top of that is an unnecessary faff when we know what kind of numbers a good quality low-scoring round will show. Club head & ball speeds are part of the long drive thing for sure.... but this is a solid round of golf at a famous course.
@@badm0t0rf1nger His numbers for his views say differently.. he had bigger audiences 4 years ago than he has today which says it all! He would have double the subscribers by now and his long drive stuff pulls more interest too, proving my point.
@@badm0t0rf1nger His lowest viewed video is one from 5 months back trying to improve his short game (11k views).. his long drive and videos showing bombs on pro courses are killing it with millions of views.
It's not the 'British Open'. It's the 'Open'. It really grates everyone outside of the US, when Americans call it the British Open. It's the original, the first, it's The Open.
Kyle, you have to understand that we are here to watch your driver not your best score, if it lands on the brush well that’s ok as long as we see the 350-400 driver. If we wanted to see low score, we could go to the pga or some other boring channels. Please stick to what you are meant to be and I am sure you will gain more and more followers. Segmentation it’s the key for everything!
I disagree. Kyle is trying to become a complete golfer, something I suspect 99% of his audience would appreciate being able to do. It's an interesting journey, watching the lob wedge being used frequently at Carnoustie was an indication that there is much to learn. Having been shredded by that course myself, I know that the real links experts would be scoring with seven and eight irons rather than throwing the ball up like that. Golf as a game contains a myriad of challenges, personally, watching an obviously talented guy learning unfamiliar parts of the game is more interesting than just measuring bombs.
Hard disagree. He's already proven to everyone that he can do the explosive long drive thing to *world champion* status. I have huge respect that he's now pouring time & effort into becoming the best *golfer* he can be, & sharing that journey with us.

Your killing it with that lob wedge. I can't hit one for sh-t. 😆
Awesome wedge play Kyle. First 4 holes all had pretty epic shots

great round at a truly challenging course.

I'll second that sentiment! :)
Love the voice over eps
This is a lob wedge montage and I'm here for it
If you get the chance get up to Spey Valley Championship course. It’s got a 621 yard par 5 (which is unusual for scotland!)
Great work. So fun to watch ... Go to Liv golf, im sure they would welcome you with open arms :)
As you said, youve got kind of lucky there. Last time i played the rough was twice as long.

I will say that your short game is so much better than it was 2 years ago.
I played the carnoustie Junior open once from the tips as a twelve year old and shot +4 on the back nine.
great video. as a non gen z i prefer the longer format like this.
Yes Carnoustie is an absolute nightmare. But what a course.
Are you planning on playing in any tournaments in the future?
Ignore the wind (where possible), did you find much of a difference in carry distance compared to US courses?

Actually you are a recvery player : all your second shots are for recovery and you play them amazingly!
Nothing better than a staff bag on a pull cart.
When are u gonna make a video with bryson again?
Are you still in the UK? I have a course for you to try out! :)
Yup, there’s a reason they call it Carnastie

For me Kyle it's time to make the pros sweat start playing pro golf ⛳️
Bro missed 4 greens in a row and lobbed it inside a foot every time. Hes better than a video game

Don't you think it's a bit disrespectful not to mention Paul Lawrie who WON the 99 open.
putting well w that super rat. why did you settle on this putter? need a WITB and why each club is in bag
Hey kyle. Time for a witb
Using an orange whip ???
Carrrnoooustie!!!!
I wish your putting tempo was as good as your driving tempo.
Don’t overpower the course… “230yds I think I’ll hit a PW” lol
Hi Kyle, please add your data like the early days! Ball speed etc as it's what the fans love ❤

People calling it “the British open” and not The Open 🤢🤢🤢🤢
Agree. Absolutely hate it.
I remember saying it to a Scotsman before the British open. He was pissed off. So now I have to say open championship ever since
Only Yanks call it the British Open. It's the first. It's THE Open.
I think the Americans still call it the British open
