Aloha Foodie Ohana and happy Monday! I love me some OLD school eats. Sometimes you need the basics and not all the new fusion/twists/hipster pop ups. That food that brings back the memories and nostalgia is where it’s at. Love the choices for today’s episode. Love you guys! 🤙🏽❤️👴🏽🚌📚✏️🌴
Oh, those brought back all the memories! I love Fukuya's, although you need to save up to eat there with the prices these days! And W&M was also in my old neighborhood, so used to really enjoy that. My sister used to eat there so often that when the workers saw her car pulling into the driveway, they started preparing her meal (she always ordered the same thing). Really threw them off one day when my other sister borrowed her car! 🤣 Thanks for bringing back all those memories and also featuring some ONO grinds!
Wife and I are visiting my mom and couldn't make up our mind on what to get for lunch today. I forgot all about Fukuya's! We should have gone there or W&M. We ended up going to Ireh instead. Still good, but we should have gone to Fukuya's or W&M. Maybe we can hit it tomorrow before we return to the mainland. Mahalo for the video!
Hi Amanda and Felix. Oh my I love Fukui and W &M Burger are my favorite places. They bring back so many memories. I am so glad that they are still around. Take care and blessings.💖🙏🌺💖
WOW!!!! THANK YOU for featuring W&M on this OLD SCHOOL spots video!!! I used to eat the best teri beef burger back in the day when they were on 9th near Pahoa. I'd walk there with my cousins during summer vacations as a kid from the mainland. The aromas of the grilled beef steak with teriyaki have been seared in my memory every time I come to Honolulu. However, I never knew they relocated, just figured they closed up. I could not describe fully the unique taste of that burger to anyone who hadn't been there. Until.....I described to my friend last month as she drove me around Kaimuki for a little nostalgic cruise down Waialae. I mentioned a burger stand on a side street, and she knew exactly what I was talking about! and bingo, she took me to the current location of W&M. I knew instantly it was the same place by looking at the display of Memory Lane and history of the establishment and the menu. The Teri steak burger was the same!!!!! I was so thrilled to inhale the sweet and savory grilled teri beef steak on a delicious soft bun!!! Now I can go back on future visits and enjoy that family friendly ono teri steak that was so enjoyed a lifetime ago! Thank you Amanda and Felix for highlighting them!!😋
Ah, W&M Drive Inn, I remember it well. Their teriyaki burgers are to die for. I believe way back when (70’s) working the beat (HPD) in the area, they had a Crab Mac Salad. Of course that was so long ago and my memory not so good. 😂😂😂😂
You did this video all in one day??!!! Isn't that like 2,000 calories...for each person? and about 20 miles driving? Thanks for showcasing some of locals favorite eats for those who don't know.
Wen loco peepo drink down da saimin soup from da edge of da bowl like one big cup using both hands roun da sides da bowl. If not loco, dey look at us like we cave man & cave lady 😁💥
I haven't been to fukuya since I was a kid. Never went to jacks. we went to w&m one day and it was still good! My favorite at shiros is the wonton min but mostly the mochiko chicken!
I must’ve driven by that burger place on Waialae Avenue million times and never noticed it. I’m hitting that shit soon as I go back to Hawaii next week.
You guys make me so hungry in each episode. Great job in highlighting the local eats. Next time I visit Hawaii , forget the beaches ( LOL ) , I'm hitting #AmandaFelix favorites
Yum! Thanks for this! I arrive in Honolulu this weekend! I’m going to have to try some of these places while I am there! So many places to try, so little time!😂😂😂
Great episode! The saimin looks delicious!!! I love fried saimin! Such a classic! Comfort food. Who has the best? I used to love Yum Yum Tree at Ward Center. Looong time ago!
Seeing the M&W burger reminds me of my childhood burger place. Nakatani’s their Teri burger was the classic Hawaii burger. I wonder if anyone has any videos of it?
I have a love/hate reaction to your videos. I love the food you show but hate the video because they always make me hungry. Keep showing us all the great food of Hawaii or anywhere you go.
WM burger used to be where city mills lumber section is next to Chico's pizza where city mills is now located Always get the hal's special meat on meat burger
FYI…Hawaii as of the 2020 census has a little over 38% Asian and a little over 68% when you add the part Asians in its resident population. So naturally it makes sense to have Asian hosts. Hawaiians are a minority in their own lands.
Love your videos! Can’t wait to check out some of your recommendations when I visit Honolulu! Have you ever done a video at The Pig and the Lady? It was highly recommended to me. Please let me know your thoughts.
We lived in Waikiki on Seaside Ave when I was a wee kine keiki. When I was about 5 my mother would give me a dollar or so and I'd walk over to the old International Market Place where there was a saimin stand and get lunch for my sister and me. In those gentle days in the early 1960s, no one thought anything about keiki going to the beach or IMP on their own.
Never a shortage of food choices to choose in Hawaii unlike here in Las Vegas where theres a few local restaurants and do t even compare. Even if you go to the New Zippy's...its not the same.
Oh man, I miss Okazuya like Fukuya there and Kawamoto’s in Hilo! W & M BBQ cheeseburger is a classic and Shiro’s is a must stop! I hear Koda Farms is closing end of the year 😢 Mochiko chicken!! 😭
W &M Burger had a Kimchee burger that was broke da mouth delicious 😍 Shiro’s is also awesome. Oh I had them confused with Big Way Burger in Wahiawa. W & M is great also but parking can be difficult.
Gone Kaneda's in Kalihi, Tanabe's in Hononlulu, Kenny's burger house in Kalihi, Jolly Roger, multiple spots, Patti's Chinese kitchen in Ala Moana, etc.
W&M is such a treat when I can score parking, and gotta get the green river! Fukuya is dangerous - I always buy too much. Love Shiro’s wuntun min with Chinese roast pork. I often pass by Jack’s but for some reason never went in. Will definitely go and get their biscuit. Great memories! >^.^
Love the Old School Spots ! Nothing but the best back home ! Love our Foodie Ohana !!! I wanna make some mochiko chicken with nori wrap ! Ova hea in San Diego we gotta make our own ! You guys made me hungry ...time for breakfast ! Have an awesome hawaiian day !
Killa footage! I trip out on how expensive okazuya prices are in Oahu. In hilo it’s a little bit cheaper. But everything is a little bit more expensive in the city. Aloha
Definitely all good. I like the fried rice at Jack's Restaurant too. W&M had the crab mac salad for a long time and very nostalgic. Good to know that W&M still has Green River. Thanks to both of you and Lucy.
theres this place in the local mall (sadly i dont live there i wish i did sometimes) I get noodles instead of rice ALL the time when i get taraki chicken. Thatś why I hate eating out side, that and bees. I freak out too whenever i get attacked.

minus ten points for not putting french fries in your shiros saimin, which is of course the only proper way to eat it.
When ever possible, could you please include parking information / situation
It would be helpful, ❤ing your content, keep up the good work!
