Exactly! There should be some fihs in these tanks - they are just not allowed by the rules of the contest, but that's only few days, and for the rest of the time there could be lots of fish! :)
Trying to get some inspiration for my own planted tanks. Have been watching a lot of your videos and I got to say George W. Just tanks are simply breathtaking.
Beautiful tanks!! I've been inspired to create one of these. I do reef tanks, and now want to do a cichlid only tank, and a planted tank. I can't believe there are 2 dislikes on this...maybe their monitor's were messed up lol. Thanks for the amazing video!
Do you know what plants were used at 1:38? It looks like rotala colorata for the "tree" and then some kind of hairgrass with bacopa caroliniana and staurogyne repens throughout?
The tree is made of Ludwigia brevipes. Hairgrass is Eleocharis accicularis, and the stemmed plant is Ammania sp. "bonsai". I think you're right about Staurogyne.
That 1:28 aquarium is sick! Have you got any tutorials how to make one? iv been trying to find a proper tutorial for how to make tree with white / red leaves on a rocky grassfield but so far cant find one.
Does anyone have more info on the tank at 1:29? Aquarium no. 21, 3rd place. I was thinking of doing something exactly like that, any tank similar in style (1 tree surrounded by "grass" surrounded by sand) would also do. I already have a tree, just need moss and will try to drystart dwarf-hairgrass.
Well, it was quite easy - he just took lots of Ludwigia stems, and attached them to the wood by some string :) After a while the stems started to grow up, and the roots started to grow down :)
@ DefiniteAquascapeTV yup i keep my koi in a 75 gallon aquarium, and she is right about 12 inch's from head to tail... she started out when i first got her in a small pond and after i learned how bad of an idea that was (the pond froze to a block of ice in the winter, lucky for me i had her inside at the time) i have kept her inside, and so far she seems fairly happy so long as i keep a high current of water flowing in the tank for her to play in.
+Definite Aquascape TV actually she is happy and healthy, and i would gladly get you a picture if you would like. i just did a 75% water change but the last readout was as follows Ammonia:0 Nitrite:0 Phosphate: 0.25 wide range (basic ph): 7.5 with the water never getting above 75 degrees max. i have 2 water fall pumps, an under gravel and a uv filter (mainly because she loves the water to have a lot of current) oddly enough if i go any higher on the nitrite levels (as recommended by a koi breeder) she swims on her side, i had to resuscitate her once due to it. ill be the first to admit that this is only the second koi i have raised (the first ate a wasp and died) but i have raised tropical fish for a good chunk of my life with all of my fish having a longer than average life span and size for that matter. if you have any recommendations i would gladly hear you out on them. Thanks again :)
Hey, thanks for this detailed answer :) You seem to be very well aware of how to take care of koi fish! :) I don't have any recommendations, beacuse I don't know much about keeping koi - I also keep Cyprynids, but far far far smaller than koi ;)
Great video, can you tell me where i can buy the soil and plants that you use for this tank,i really want to do my first natural plant fish tank, thank you
Thanks - I think my old tanks are going to come out of the shed over the winter. Are these tanks normally kept open or is that just for the competition. Ii love the idea of open tanks so that you can from see all angles
Well, generally sand, escpecially a fine sand, shouldn't be used in aquarium if the thickness of the sand layer is bigger than, say, 1 cm or so. Why do you want to plant on sand? What tank from this video you're thinking about...?
What do you mean by "to be able to connect"? Set up your channel, start making videos and upload them, and that's all. If you're good, and if you will keep doing this, after a year or two you will be in the same position as I'm now :)
What do you mean? That this tank looks like heaven, so heaven is on Earth (i.e. down, not up)? Or that the sun in this layout (the birighter spot) should be in the upper part of the background, not in the lower...?
This may be a silly question, but where do they get such awesome looking branches, rocks and driftwood? I am a beginner aquarist and want my aquarium to look at least SOMEWHAT close to the ones shown in the video. I tried local fish store and petco, but obviously no luck so far.
Easy - just take some stems of Ludwigia, put them on the driftwood, and wrap them around with some cotton or nylon thread. There is no "magic trick" behind this, just any method will work - as long as you provide the plant with good conditions for growing, and keep trimming it.
It a white pane put behind the aquarium, and a small lamp illuminating the pane from below. Check my other video "Aquascaping - Aquarium Ideas from PetFair 2013, Łódź, Poland, pt.3" to see how it is done :)
u know man.. i do prepared to live there,,it is dat so beautiful place i want.. but i dont have gills to breath.. well fascinating i really admire ur work...hehehehe kip it up
Try Eleocharis accicularis or Eleocharis parvula. They look like real grass. Glossostigma elatinoides or Hemianthus callitrichoides are another option, but they don't look like grass.
I'm from indonesia. And I wanna make like that. but I don't know where I can get the content of aquarium like stone, sand, trees and grass and anything about that...
Fantastic tanks, really inspired me to do something with an unused aquarium. What is large fern like plant at 5:20 (no 20, Jurijs Jutjajevs) please, also bright green plant centre at 5:52 (no 18, Christian Gaebler)
please if you can show us whole aquarium and write size. i want build new aquarium and i'm watching all youtube videos to choice aquarium size. thanks keep it going nice vid as allways!:)
how do you make those background look so photographically blurred? is that reflection of emission of the light? it looks like a blend of natural fresh green with white on it
"Show us whole aquarium"? What do you mean...? I AM showing the whole aquariums... (I mean - not just fragments, but whole tanks...). Dimensions of these tanks in the video are 100x50x50 cm :)
What kind of aguatic plants would be good for a "grassy" kind if look? Java moss? And is there special kind of dirt? I really want to make some thing like this
Usually these kind of plants will not be sold at your local fish store. They are mostly sold via private sellers/growers. Look for your local planted tank forums, they always have trade/sell/buy going on there for rare plants and fish/inverts! plantedtank(dot)com is a popular one if you live in the USA.
Beautiful and calming - both the visual and the sound.
All of these aquarium designs are fantastic!
A fish paradise, each. Breathtaking!
You're so lucky to live where these awesome show take place:)
after watching endless amano tanks and others, i'm finally inspired after watching this arrangement! Thank you.
My goodness! Reminds me of an underwater Japanese bonsai and rock garden. Very skillful.
Beautiful, truly a work of art
Incredible work
Totally art.
In fact, it's Ludwigia brevipes :) I spoke with Georg W. Just this year in Hannover, and he told me what plant species he used for the tree :)
wow no. 21 was just baeutiful. red tree, reminds you off autumn foliage, very nice work
Exactly! There should be some fihs in these tanks - they are just not allowed by the rules of the contest, but that's only few days, and for the rest of the time there could be lots of fish! :)

# 21 !!! Beautiful. Thanks for sharing.

It's called "Journey of a lifetime", and is available from royalty-free.tv :)
# 12 amazing. Top three in my list.
You're welcome, mate :)
Super nice! I want one now!
Precioso vídeo. Me encanta, la música es genial. Saludos!
That's right, I was also amazed by this idea when I first saw it :)
It's Ludwigia brevipes wrapped around fragment of driftwood. Very good and, in fact, very easy idea... :)
Cheers, mate :)
The magic of nature in the glass
I just LOVE trees in aquascaping
Love the one with tree... so cool... wish I could do something like that..

The tree is made of Ludwigia brevipes. Hairgrass is Eleocharis accicularis, and the stemmed plant is Ammania sp. "bonsai". I think you're right about Staurogyne.
DefiniteAquascapeTV Do you know how, or how do you think, they attached the ludwigia to the driftwood without it coming off?
truly inspiring....
That 1:28 aquarium is sick! Have you got any tutorials how to make one? iv been trying to find a proper tutorial for how to make tree with white / red leaves on a rocky grassfield but so far cant find one.
beautiful
Excellent job!, this video is awesome, every aquarium in this compilation is beautiful. By the way, can you share us the name of the song please??
DefiniteAquascapeTV Do blue'ish LEDs go well with these types of colors? The blue that is used with Coral/Reef setups!?
Does anyone have more info on the tank at 1:29? Aquarium no. 21, 3rd place. I was thinking of doing something exactly like that, any tank similar in style (1 tree surrounded by "grass" surrounded by sand) would also do. I already have a tree, just need moss and will try to drystart dwarf-hairgrass.

Do you guys go out and find this driftwood for yourselves or purchase it? It's amazing how many different designs you can achieve with it
It's Ludwigia brevipes, wrapped around a fragment of driftwood :)

Hmmm, I'm not sure if 75 gallons tank is big enough for a koi large as yours... What are your water parameters, especially NO2/NO3 levels?
+Definite Aquascape TV actually she is happy and healthy, and i would gladly get you a picture if you would like. i just did a 75% water change but the last readout was as follows

Sure you can :) I don't know what the result will be, but it's always worth trying :)
What plants were used in aquarium contestant no23? The one with the dragon stone. I would also like to know the substrate please
Great video, can you tell me where i can buy the soil and plants that you use for this tank,i really want to do my first natural plant fish tank, thank you
That's true - they are sort of simple design, yet very "elegant", so to say... :)
You're welcome :)
It's not a bonsai, it's aquarium plant Ludwigia brevipes wrapped around fragment of driftwood :)
Yeah, they look quite interesting, that's right :)
It's Ludwigia brevipes wrapped around fragment of driftwood. Quite easy to achieve, actually (once you know how to do it ;) )
Very nice, thumps up !
Thanks - I think my old tanks are going to come out of the shed over the winter. Are these tanks normally kept open or is that just for the competition. Ii love the idea of open tanks so that you can from see all angles
So amazing art guys, could somebody tell me what the song name is? it's so interesting to me, thanks

What do you mean...? You plant on sand in exactly the same way as you plant on gravel... I'm not sure if I understand the question... :)
I should be studying lol
I wonder how do they transfer these aquariums to the contest location from there home???!!!! What's the red plant on the driftwood tree??
What do you mean? That this tank looks like heaven, so heaven is on Earth (i.e. down, not up)? Or that the sun in this layout (the birighter spot) should be in the upper part of the background, not in the lower...?
Do you keep Koi in an aquarium? How big is it? (both - Koi and the tank :) )
It is constantly being asked ;) It's Ludvigia brevipes :)
Aquarium 21 at 1:26 what is that tree, didn't know you could put a bonsai underwater. Amazing.
Do you mean tank by Marcin Nowak? :) It's one of my fav tanks at this contest :)
You can do it both ways - either buy it, or find it yourself :) The former is easier but more expensive, the latter is a lot of fun :)
This may be a silly question, but where do they get such awesome looking branches, rocks and driftwood? I am a beginner aquarist and want my aquarium to look at least SOMEWHAT close to the ones shown in the video. I tried local fish store and petco, but obviously no luck so far.
Tree took my breath away
Meaning - tanks in the video are better? :)

thank you for inspiring videos. :)

good plants
That's true :)
Sure :) It's called "Journey of a lifetime" and is available through Royalty-Free(dot)Tv.
Zbiornik z 3-ciego miejsca (drzewo na wzgórzu) jest fantastyczny.
I'm from indonesia. And I wanna make like that. but I don't know where I can get the content of aquarium like stone, sand, trees and grass and anything about that...
Indeed :)

"Oh tanks" what...? Or is it "OK, thanks"? (but I can't see any question of yours in the comments...?)
"Show us whole aquarium"? What do you mean...? I AM showing the whole aquariums... (I mean - not just fragments, but whole tanks...). Dimensions of these tanks in the video are 100x50x50 cm :)
Hmmm, did you try Google "buying driftwood online"...? ;)
But those tanks at the competition were not open at all... They all had hoods...
aquarium no. 21 by G.W.Just is really amazing. can someone tell about it. which tree is that and how it can be grown..or is it artificial..
hello. nice chanel :D my question to you. Where could i find to buy those plants?
Why didn't you think plants would spread roots in the sand? It's exactly the same substrate as any other substrate :)
Why can't you buy them...?
It's just a fragment of driftwood, overgrown with Ludvigia brevipes. Everyone can do it :)
What kind of aguatic plants would be good for a "grassy" kind if look? Java moss? And is there special kind of dirt? I really want to make some thing like this
nice job
You are going to college or be able to mount aquariums?
Id like to learn how to do this... just amazing
What is the name of the music? it is so moving! I want it...
This might have been asked before but what plant did they use on the tree at 1:25?? Thank you.
Which tank do you mean?
Usually these kind of plants will not be sold at your local fish store. They are mostly sold via private sellers/growers. and btw how the hell did he get that plant (Ludwigia brevipes) to stay on top of that wood? i'm curious to knw so that maybe i can give it a try.
