I've owned and used a commercial spiral mixer and there's no doubt they produce good dough development. But I don't think they fit easily into a domestic setting, even for a keen bread maker. They are too heavy to move (this one is 30kg) and they only have the one function, compared to a general purpose kitchen mixer. You can make great bread dough, pizza dough etc, but you can't make cakes, whisk a soufflé, mince, and all the other things a general purpose mixer can do. Also the cleaning is a hassle...in a restaurant kitchen you have staff to do that, but at home....Anyway, good to see another Scandinavian alternative to the more widely sold stand mixers. I have an Ankarsrum, which is not a spiral mixer but I think is a more practical and versatile general purpose mixer, while offering a better solution for the keen bread maker than a planetary mixer.
Thanks for taking the time to view and comment. Yes you are right - its a heavy machine and single purpose more or less but I still find that it mix the dough to perfection
KYS ProBakers are Chinese OEM mixers sold by a Scandinavian company. They have nothing to do with the design or production other than putting their logo on it.
I currently work as a full-time baker in Norway, and from my perspective, the machine is quite good, but not perfect. The hook should be a bit wider, like brands such as Diosna and Kemper. The spiral doesn't hook the dough well enough in my opinion.
thank you for a nice video. But, I really don’t understand the way the bowl is cleaned in the end of the video. Can’t it be separated from the machine?
"Very good ! How much did this device cost ?! "I just think that it has a limitation, that of not being able to remove the CONTAINER - BOWL, for all questions.Thank you
How does it sound in operation? I have a similar KYS, and after a few doughs it started to sound high and strange from the motor. as it flaps against something. Sometimes it goea away a bit, but then it gets back. At high speed you don't hear it as well, but at lowest speed is pretty annoying. KYS service is slow at the moment... let's see how this develops.
@@mattmoreno8121 Loved the machine, until it broke. Big turnoff was that they do not have a repair after market. If it breaks you are on your own was my experience. Got myself a Grilletta and although it's not as quiet (it has a chain instead of a belt for driving the hook) you can get a replacement part of pretty much anything if something breaks.
@@artorias89 yes, still working good. I have the 7+ version. My first unit had a defective motor and they send me a whole replacement mixer. I still have the old one. Been 6 months.
Hello, greetings from spain Please, I would like to ask you a question, how is the mixer? Do you recommend it? I'm thinking of buying my first spiral mixer, and I'm between the Italian ones and this one, although the kys is much cheaper. I would like to know please how it behaves in all situations to prepare pizza, how it behaves with high hydration, how it behaves with small doughs ...if you can explain me a little your experience I would be very grateful. Best regards and I look forward to your reply
Hi there. I am sure they do - click Great Britain in the list. Btw since I bought mine, they have upgraded the mixer to v 7 so you will get new features kitchenchef.no/en/products/kys-pro-baker-7-spiralmikser-eltemaskin
Cleaning is obviously a horror … and it just serves one purpose. Have a look on a Wilka Probaker. That fits better in a household where you bake bread but also cookies or cake. And still it is much better than kitchen aid or Kenwood
@@SQLCPH Agree. I have recently bought the same KYS (though a newer "version") and you get used to cleaning it. If you are careful with the gluten development, it's even esier, since not much dough will be left in the bowl.

As far as i can see, i find only one downside, the bowl can not be released for cleaning?

Hi there - thanks for watching the video. No the ball is fixed mounted which has its own charm to it. You get used to clean it like that
